- Fritz Kreisler - Liebesleid
Augustin Hadelich, violin and piano
Recorded on April 9 during Covid19 hiatus.
Since I uploaded Liebesfreud two days ago ( • Augustin Hadelich play... ), I simply had to record Liebesleid too!
Liebesleid (which means Love's Sorrow) is bittersweet. The opening section (in A Minor) conveys a feeling of longing, reaching out, while the major section feels to me like a happy memory. Why is it so much more beautiful when it comes back again at the end? I think there are two reasons: since it is the second time we hear this A Major section, it is not only Kreisler remembering at that point, but the listener as well. And, he changes the piano part in subtle ways every time the violin line is repeated, until at the end, the rhythmic figurations of the violin and piano move rhythmically together and around each other, so it feels like there are two people dancing and connecting in this memory.
Even though it's often thought of as "just an encore piece", Liebesleid has a lot of depth and many layers of meaning in the score.
Science: How much can you stretch the time dimension?
Augustin: Yes.
TwoSet Playlists this is a great comment!❤️
A great pianist once said, “Musicians don’t steal. If they take something they give it back” It’s amazing how he can use so much rubato and and play both parts in sync
with so many great violinist it's almost impossible to say one is thee greatest, but no one seems to compare to Mr. Hadelich. the combination of your modesty and your beautiful sound brings tears to my eyes. thank you so much for teaching us and sharing your knowledge.
What a stunning performance.
I grew up hearing my piano teacher play this with her violinist husband. I am now learning it with their very talented daughter. Thank you for your beautiful and touching rendition.

Amazingly delicious, each sound carefully considered, and the fingering/harmonics is utterly perfect to get just the right glissando and texture.

Always simply stunning...
A complete musician.
Gorgeous! I just enjoyed your virtuoso performance of one of the Joseph Bologne concertos, with Maestra JoAnn Falletta conducting the Detroit Symphony. Watched the Chevalier film and enjoyed it; thanks for bringing attention to that overlooked composer.
I enjoy your self duets so much! ☺️
Maestro!!!¡¡
Bravo
Thank you for this - I’ve decided to give this a try on my new violin which I was lucky enough to get for Christmas. This video is helping me a lot with the phrasing!
I think of Hadelich as the violin equivalent of Yo Yo Ma. They are both such wonderfully sensitive players.
such talent, beautiful!
beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!
👏👏👏🤩🤩🤩🤩 love interpretación
Belle maîtrise. Merci

My best regards from Argentina 🇦🇷!!! 👏👏👏👏
I love you!!! I think you need a vacation and highly recommend visiting us in Honolulu! ✈️ 🩷🌈🌴🌊 TY for sharing!
These videos are a case of the chicken and the egg: which came first? The piano or violin recording? Both are so well fitting each other that one might think Mr. Hadelich has a clone or twin.
Parabéns! Sucesso explodindo! Wow!
You are so amazing Augustin!

Splendid!
Mr. Hadelich, could you please plays both parts of Shostakovich - Romance from the Gadfly?
Wonderful execution! I can ask who made the violin fittings, exceptional quality and perfectly balanced, thanks to you!
Qué maravilla!
Gorgeous ❤️ minor ➡️ major = 🤯
It reminds me much of the version Kreisler played himself, but more dynamic and legato
Are you planning to record these 'both parts'? If so, I shall buy the CDs without any hesitation.
YJ wouldn’t that be wonderful?!❤️
That'd be so awesome
美妙的音乐
Hero
Which arrangement do you play?
I would love to hear paganini caprice number 4 from you...I mean I would just die.
Augustin I found a new piece in Sheet Music Plus you'll wanna record and it's Edward Nanny's Bass Concerto in A Major transcribed for Violin.
That’s the double bass concerto Nanny originally attributed to the much more famous Dragonetti!
is this song difficult ??
DELICIOSO
Very pretty but it should be a lot simpler Don't look for some unique phrase
