- Arthur Hacker was an English painter of legends and portraits and an accomplished portrait artist, He painted Interior scenes of domestic life and traveled extensively in Europe, he attended the atelier of Bonnat in Paris where he would find many other Englishmen attending who also made their mark in the arts, including Solomon J. Solomon, who would later pen his own book on painting years later. Hacker was much admired for his daring compositions of the unusual and did not shy away from technical problems in so doing. His work is still much admired today.

You are showing artists I had never heard of before, all of them so interesting and well presented. Thank you very much. I am grateful for your videos
What a fabulous artist. Thank you so much for showing us his work. I shall remember his name!
I'm loving these videos and getting to learn about artists I probably would not have known about otherwise. That painting, A Great Cry in Egypt, is something else.
This channel is a gem
Thank you. Once again you have succeeded in presenting another great artist.
Very good presentation and variety of Hacker’s art. Thank you
An unknown artist that i never eard before, thank you to bring his works, great stuff !
I've long admired Hacker's 'The Temptation of Sir Percival'. Thank you for presenting a broad selection of his work. 19th century naturalist and academic painting is very important to me and this has become hands down my favorite UA-cam channel for visual art. Keep up the good work! I'd love to see a video on Fernand Pelez. I saw his ' Le Marchand de violettes' in a traveling exhibition a couple of years ago and it completely blew me away.
Fernand Pelez., yes a good one.
Another great tour of an unknown artist (for me a least...where do you find these wonderful painters?). I 'm struck by the "storytelling" quality of the works. If it was only the craftsmanship and skill of the artist that brought them attention, I can understand their celebrity, on one level, at least. But the ability to tell a story in these works, delving deep into an emotional level; to me that is a talent that cannot be taught; Viewing a number of these videos, it seems to be a theme of this channel (which I applaud, BTW). Being an illustrator, I'll confess a preference to storytelling in artworks; so there's my bias. I'm hoping to see more from you. Thanks again for your work and research. A bietnôt!
Thank you, we have a vast inventory of books, but to your point- storytelling is powerful and illustrators are also favorites with this channel
Beautiful art work. Thank you.
