I cannot begin to describe how grateful I am for this video! I've been spending hours and hours each short TikTok video having to manually get all the timings correct! Thankyou SO much!
Garr THANK YOU!! Took me MONTHS to find a video like yours that does what I need. I have friends/family of different languages and needed captions in 2 languages... I have the free version on my Mac desktop (recently downloaded) and had no problem exporting the video or dragging the SRT!!
Thanks for a great video. If you could please advice, apparently there's no punctuation marks (comma, full stop, question mark etc) in the captions. Is there a way to automatically do that, otherwise doing it manually is such a tedious task specially for long videos. Help please!
i am speaking swedish in the video and want swedish subtitles.. how do i do it? do i have to recorde my voice all over in english and match the timing and all? all over?:(
NOTE: When I made this video, you did not need the pro version to export your finished video. However, if you do not have the pro version, you can still generate subtitles using the CapCut website. The interface is similar. Log on to your free capcut account, then import your video without the subtitles. In Capcut you can first generate subtitles in the original spoken language that is in the video (“Captions" on the left sidebar). Then, at the very bottom, there is small “Translation” button (a mark with the letter A and Chinese script). This will translate your generated text, replacing it with the new language. www.capcut.com/
@GarrReynoldsInJapan yeah. That's what I guessed, but they won't even let me buy the pro version . I tried to buy it for a week now, but it doesn't seem possible 🤔I saw a lot of people writing on UA-cam with the same problem 😶
Thanks for the comment. When I made the video, we did not need the pro version to do this. Now it seems we need the upgrade to make this work (i.e., get the srt. file). I'm really sorry about that.
I had to first get pro version and then when want to bring in the translated text, paste it back into the same exact text doc, dont use a new document or change the name. It didn't work if I used new text document. Then I dragged it into timeline and it worked.
I have tried your method but mine capcut in pc does not show Srt option after deselecting the video, it wouldn't export anything, is this an issue with latest versions of the capcut or am I doing it the wrong way, please guide ?
I think this is because this method does not seem to work any longer for the free version. I wish the kept this available in the free version as a lot of students all over the world use capcut and need to translate their videos but can not afford to pay.
I did it but the srt just got 1min30sec of the captions, my video is 8min 30sec, i wanted to transport whole caption, what should i do in this case? i would appreciate if u can help me, thanks in advance!
I wonder it it is related to the fact that CC requires the pro version to export now? Sorry that I can not be of help here, but I will investigate this further. Thanks for the message!
At the time I made the video, it was free. But as of today (Jan 2, 2024) I did find that it requires Pro to export the video. Pro is worth it for sure, but I understand that it may be difficult for students etc.
Great video and very helpful. Thank you. I'm trying to translate English to Chinese. I see my Ipad does not have the SRT option for saving 😅😂. The struggle is real. LOL
Yes, you are right. Sorry about that. It was free at the time I made the video. I am very impressed with Cap Cut ( I use Resolve myself mostly) and I think upgrading to Pro would be very much worth it, but I understand that may be difficult for students, etc. Thanks for the heads up.
DO NOT USE this tutorial, if you´re using the free version. You will waste your time, as I did. On the other hand, this is a good and useul video for Pro Users of Cap Cut
Yes, thanks for pointing this out. I change the title to reflect that it is now a pro feature, unfortunately. When I made the video, the feature was free. Since then, many free features have now become paid only. As you said, "this is a good and useful video for Pro Users of Cap Cut." I do wish that CapCut would keep the translation feature free since a key use for this around the world is students, and they often can not afford a pro version. Thanks again!
Sorry. When I made the video, the feature was free. I have not tried the online version yet, but it may be free. So you could edit your video without translation and then use the website to get the translation done and embedded in the video? Perhaps this will work? Try here. they say it is free to translate: www.capcut.com/tools/video-translator (Update: I tried it and it works, see comment above).
A massive thank you! The exact step by step guide we were looking for. Even the language into Japanese matches what we are doing. Perfect!

You literaaly are a hero. Ive spent so many hours trying to find a way to subtitle videos in different languages.
It doesn't work on mine 😒
Finally, a helpful video, the rest of them were useless! Thank you so much sir!
I was able to fix one of the big issue for getting subtitle of the video in French! Thanks a lot!!! simple and straight to the point!
Awesome video! Saved my life in a pinch :)) Grateful with gratitude
So efficient! Thanks~
Great practical video Garr. Especially with a native-Japanese speaker doing the final check, this would be amazing, quick, and cheap!
You saved me 3 hours of work! Thank you very much!
eres un DIOS , me has ahorrado 25 minutos de trabajo
no BS and straight to the point, kudos to you sir!
Thanks very much for watching.
It says to me that exporting the srt is a feature of the pro version Have they change the policy recently?

Thanks a ton! This will be a game changer for me, as I wanna spread out my knowledge to English. Cheers!
when i deselect the video file like you did on the video, the window does not change into SRT
file, and i am not able to export at all?
Thanks for you message. I guess it is related to the fact that now CapCut requires the pro version to export? Sorry that I am not of more help.

Is there a way to do in inside capcut bro?
I don't get that srt file. When I deselect video, it gives me MP3.
Thanks for the comment. When I made the video, we did not need the pro version to do this. Now it seems we need the upgrade to make this work (i.e., get the srt. file). I'm really sorry about that.
Can you upload your own original text and replace the wrong transcription?
exporting srt. is not free on capcut
