- The W205 Mercedes-Benz C-Class is the latest generation of the 'Baby Benz'. Our episode of TestDrive Spotlight goes in-depth with this C300 4MATIC, showing all the features, taking it for a drive, and going over everything you need to know if you're in the market for this compact luxury sedan.
This 2016 Mercedes-Benz C300 4Matic comes equipped with the premium plus and sport packages. On the exterior we find front and rear parking sensors along with a power opening trunk. The inside of this generation is completely redesigned, with a much more luxury-oriented feel over some of the previous generations.
The wood trim surrounds the centre console with elegant heating control buttons, along with the Comand navigation screen up top. A backup camera helps with the rear backup camera, and park assist will help you find a spot on a busy street or parking lot.
The seating of the C300 is finished in leatherette but feels soft and supportive. The drive of the 2.0L turbocharged engine also provided adequate power when needed, along with the control of Mercedes's 4Matic all-wheel drive system.
Watch our full episode on this 2016 Mercedes-Benz C300 4Matic to see all the features, and what we think of this compact luxury sedan.

I own a new C300 too. Here’s a tip to learn. ☝️Turn on the air conditioning to AUTO and adjust the temperature setting to a comfortable level to defog all your interior windows! ☝️
No one should be driving around in a luxury car with foggy windows!
Late to this vid, but I recently bought one. I'm not a Mercedes person could care less, just needed a nice sedan. This car is insanely good and looks even better. The sport plus handling was actually more fun than the 325.
Glad to hear it! These are also nice cars, I haven't driven any since filming this episode, mostly the older C-Classes.
Just bought a 2016 c class last week , curious as to how it held up over the year ?
@@bertTheGod never had one issue so far. one of the best cars and values. Service isn't cheap but sensible
@@anthonyjaswinski5732 my fucking guy! I appreciate it , i been saving for the repairs I’m expecting to pay about 1500 a service, one more question, do u beat on it ? Are you in sports mode a lot ?
@@bertTheGod y, I do occasionally and it likes to rev. I was fortunate enough to get 2 free services because I bought from a person who had bought 4 years of service, but y, a 20,000 would cost around 1500. No different than other Germans but you can always find a reputable local mechanic who would do it at half or quarter the price. Mercedes also offers service plans I believe that would save you money in the long run. But mechanic wise, I haven't had any issues at all with engine integrity. Feels like it could go 300K. You get both performance and luxury
Been in one of these with the black glossy internal trim and its a dust magnet, wood is a must and looks gorgeous.
Agreed! A friend had the 2017 C300 on test last week with the piano finish, doesn't look nearly as nice as wood trim.
Great video!! Well delivered. Really cool car!
Hey I mean if you liked this, hopefully you'll like the recent stuff we've done. This video was a very early attempt for us, I feel the quality has improved exponentially since this. Thanks!
The glossy middle panel scratches even by looking on it.
It definitely feels that way! We’re not huge fans of piano black finishes.
I agree. Hate it myself
Great vid bruv
Thanks!
I wish you would have showed the headlights on
Good video mate. Whenever I come to America from Ireland to compete I need a car to transport me so this one would be perfect 👌🏻
Glad to hear it! This new C-Class has a good look to it, taking on some of the S-Class look and feel for a fraction of the price.
Fake McGregor headass gtfo
It looks much better with the LED Inteligent Light System
Agreed! I was very disappointed to find this had halogen headlights. At this point I don't think the C-Class should still be equipped with it, even as a base model. Maybe a C180 (if those exist still in Europe), but a C300 should be LED.
PRN in Europe we even have a C160 which has something like 122hp
Does it have LED Lights at least? :P
PRN you have to pay about a 1000 euro extra for static LED headlights and about 1700 euro for the ILS, but it has the halogen headlights as standard, onle the V8 amg models have LED headlights as standard, but not the ILS
Good to know! I know BMW is the same, the 320i we reviewed over a year ago also had cheap halogen headlights. I believe it was an option for that car, unlike the Ford F150 we did earlier which required a complete trim upgrade just to option the LED lights.
Looks small? How is it with leg space?
Driver leg space? It's comparable to other compact luxury sedans like the BMW 3 Series. Rear seat space is usable for adults, but I wouldn't want to be back there for an extended period of time.
What’s the price for an oil change on one of these ?
Could be anywhere from $140 to $200 depending on the dealership you go to. You can save a bit on the cost by taking it to a third party shop, but the amount of synthetic oil required is the bulk of the cost.
$60 when you do it yourself, you little sissy girl
I'm very surprised as to how that car's equipped. In the US, you only get the Halogen headlights on the lowest "premium package." Basically no nav, no Burmester, no heated seats, nothing. You hardly ever see them in this trim. With premium package 2 you get Burmester sound, LED lights, heated seats, and push button start. I'd say 60% of the W205s you see in the states are premium package 2.
We find the same here, with this car being a strange anomaly. The CLA on the other hand is a different story, most of those we see around have halogen headlights. Those cars seem to cater to people who only want to buy the brand but can't afford anything worthwhile about it, whereas most of the W205s we see have LED lights.
whats a good merc or beamer to run on a budget?
Depends on your budget! I hear great things about the E90 328i and the W204 C-Class and late model W211 E-Class. Either of those tend to be pretty reliable, many of the owners I speak with are original owners in the 150k+ km range without any warranty claims thus far.
PRN thanks for the fast reply. ive always loved the look of the w211's. is there a specific model to look out for?
The E320 CDI is becoming a very popular car, from my understanding the new wave of Mercedes diesels produce less power and torque due to environmental regulations, whereas the W211 E320 has more than enough. It's the car we'd pick up if we found one! A friend of the channel has a 2009 E350 and it's been bulletproof for them.
PRN ill have to check them out. thanks for helping out and loving the channel. wish you guys luck with the channel!
NONE!
yes, yes it is...and i have a w204 c350. well, everything except interior space.
We're not a big fan of new cars' interior space. They seem to get smaller.
except the W204s front looks better. other than that the 205 is better period
does this have apple car play?
It does not.
How much does it cost?
In today's market these could be anywhere from $20,000 to $35,000 CAD.
Your Mercedes videos are excellent. I've watched them all. I think the 2014-2016 facelift model sedan was better looking than this from the rear. The new wagon model is nicer though.
I spotted a new AMG C 43 wagon on the road yesterday, it looks so nice! I'm hoping to do more new MB models this year. Hope you'll like what we have in store down the road!
Lexus has the best interiors now.
We really liked the interior on the new ES 350 we drove, haven't had the chance to feature an IS of the same year, but a Showdown against the Mercedes would be interesting.
The W205 makes the W204 look boring - and I am saying this as a Mercedes Fan.
To me the W205 is the most beautiful C-Class (currently), followed by the W202 and then the W201 (190-Series).
We really like it when equipped with the right options, LED headlighting is a must!
We have this car on my channel. The flat screen is small. But the car it self is nice with my carbon fiber spoiler 2 ton
Glad to hear it!
I find this design a bit too soft... or the 204 is aging exceptionally.
Agreed! We're going to be featuring a W204 AMG later this month, it looks great even as a pre-facelift model!
Wood belongs in a house not a car!
😂😂
It doesn t have the elegance and the style of your Bmw e38 .
Agreed! The new C-Class looks very nice with wood trim interior, but it still feels a little plastic compared with older full-size luxury cars.
In my opinion, W204 is the worst facelift I have ever witnessed in a Mercedes in terms of design. Headlights look awful. I like everything about W205 except the stiff suspensions. It's like Mercedes is trying to force its customers to purchase the optional air suspensions. Not cool.
Levent Maçkalı well I haven't been in an amg spec but the avantgarde suspension is not bad yet it could be better without run-flat tires.Overall I agree with you that the airmatic is the one to go but sadly it's not even imported to turkey.I went on a couple of places including the dealer service to get our w205 fitted with airmatic but only dealer could offer original ones with a mind blowingly expensive cost,so it's nearly impossible to have the joy of an airmatic in w205 here.
