Sometimes I don’t really care about what you are making, but I love to just listen to you. Everything you do you put your whole self into it. Hope you make videos for a long time. When I build my shop next year I will be getting some charts to hang.
I come from a construction family in many phases. It is truly inspiring to see young people, like yourself teaching us old dogs new tricks. Keep it up! I do have an interest in that horizontal peg board jar organizational thing. Please advise on that.
Dear April, I really love what you do. It's so inspiring. I live on a small farm in Germany and bought a Woodmizer a few months ago. After watching all of your videos i started with woodworking and I really love building sawhorses. Thank you for sharing your experience with all of us. Keep on doing what you do. Greetings from Germany, Lukas
So often I find "tip" videos are full of either blatantly obvious ideas, or ones that terribly lame/impractical. This is an exception to that! Great ideas and things I haven't seen before or thought of myself. Thanks April!
These tips are actually SO GOOD and simple! I seriously can’t believe how I’ve never thought of some of these before! Thank you for making this video! It’s honestly the best video I’ve seen on shop storage to date.
We just moved and I'm finally at the point where I am organizing my shop so I can start doing "shop stuff." These ideas (as well as the whole video) were very inspiring. Thank you for posting this!
OLD LEATHER SMITH here, I have watched you from the beginning of your videos and you have always had good ideas, I use most of the ones shown today, I have one 4 you, I installed plastic rain gutters on the edges of all my benches which R also on casters, plastic because you can't get cut and they bend and return quickly, GOD'S BLESSINGS ✝️⚾🙃
I've been watching you since you started. I remember you telling how you got started in woodworking.. And look at you now.....I am proud of you.........blessings to you always
This is the one that I will use and LOVE the most!!! Reuse and recycle EVERYTHING!!! They make fun of me, but I save everything and this is why!!! Thank you for the ideas.
Thanks, April! We are finding out what we need to store in our woodshop. BTW - Our workbench, based on your plans, looks and works great! Thank you, dear lady!
Quote of the day: "organizing a shop is never ending!" I have been moving a few things in my shop and will incorporate several of your ideas. Thanks for sharing.
I have been building and fixing things everything from engine rebuilds, home and deck construction to computers and the like. I am thoroughly impressed.
You're just a smart creative woman, I thank you so much for the simple hacks esp. the PVC tubes are a fantastic item storage ideas. Thank you from Addis.
I am literally just taking a break from cleaning up my garage. I know you always have such a clean and organized shop so I thought I'd get some inspiration. I am now going back out to finish with a few of these great tips. Thanks!
April I have recently retired and am in the process of tossing 47 years of accumulated junk from my career. This could not have been timed better as I finally organize the chaos. Thank you for sharing so many great ideas in one video.
I've done the hook/drill holder and the picture hangers and I've seen multiple uses for PVC pipe storage, but the rest of this is new to me. Thanks, April!
A good addition to the magnet drill chuck holder is to add a retractable keychain thing to it so that its tethered to the place and can't possibly be put anywhere else.
Great tips! We don't have much space for pegboard and needed versatile solutions to keep frequently use items nearby. I use a rolling cart for furniture flip supplies, and could easily even add some of these to the side of the cart! 👍 And our Sawz-all blades alone have been making me crazy!
My Viewers are such a wide range of skillset, I mix it up and do both simple and complex projects. Regardless which I do, someone complains I've either lost touch with my roots or I'm being lazy and slacking. Sure is hard to please everyone. Thanks for watching.
Forget tips 1-17. The biggest tip here is use plywood for walls so you can screw things everywhere with no issues. I think this video just sold me on that.
I used Red Oak plywood for the wall of my watch repair shop. I am selective where I drill holes though as it is a nice finish. But that was the original reason I chose plywood. It does work great. Also my shop can be taken down easily as it is all screwed together. If needed.
You are so right! All that Tips Here need also a big room for each. I have only a very small Shop and habe to calculate with each half Inch. I buy or Made my storage Tools only If i found a good rooms saving solution and the plywood allows me to do ist my way. And also the Concret behind ist too hard 😉
As soon as I saw your thumbnail, I had my comment in my head. Tip #12, with the shoe pouches, is one I've been using for quite some time. I have a very small workshop (which I share with the furnace and water heater!), and I have a cloth version of the shoe hanger. It is mounted on the back side of my door, and I keep most of my spray paint and poly cans in it. They are out of sight, out of the way, but super handy when I need them. A tip I have is to take 2' - 3' sections of heavy duty cardboard roller (as is used in carpet rolls), or you can use Schedule 40, and mount them on a wood base. It's best to cut a plywood round that fits in the end of the tube, and then attach the round to the base. Do this with 3 or 4 sections on the base, and you can keep dowels, scrap trim moulding, threaded rods, and other smaller width dimensional items in them. You could even put a lazy susan plate on the bottom, if desired. Thanks for the other tips, April! You gave some I haven't tried before, (I love Tip #1 and Tip #3 the best), and I'm eager to add them to my shop!
@April Wilkerson I just received the reply back from SmartJars concerning the Food Safe plastics. Regarding your question on food safety. The plastic we use to mold our jar and lids are safe for food storage. (Technically, the plastic meets U.S. CFR Title 21, Part 177, Subpart B, Section 177.1520 (c) 3.1a entitled “Olefin Polymers” of the Food Additives Amendment of 1958 to the United States Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act of 1938.) Of course, as with any purchased product, you’ll want to wash these with regular dish detergent prior to use. Also, if you put these in the dishwasher, you’ll want to use the top rack only.
Lot of great tips! And, finally, a sponsor for something that is more than useful and doesn't cost an arm and a leg. I'll be looking into those for sure.
Pinterest and a staff writer. I know it's a catty comment but despite a number of these videos they are not solutions she uses in her shop, they are just demonstrations.
A great video showing inexpensive storage ideas. As to the Smart Jars for storing food items (spices), not sure if the plastic is "food grade" materials. I couldn't find anything on their site indicating food safe or not. I have emailed them to ask this question.
I don't want storage above the surface of the workbench. It will get in the way. I put the magnet on top of my drill press. Nice idea for a tape rack... you could also use it for a paper towel roll. Thanks for the tips. Back in the day... grandpa would attach a mason jar lid to the bottom of a shelf. He'd put nails, screws, bolts, nuts, etc... in the jar and just store it quickly by screwing into the mounted lid.
I always store my glue bottles upside down to prevent the dried film on the inside of the nozzle. It also leaves the glue ready to flow immediately upon use. I set them inside of plastic cups so they will stand up and I can set them on any surface where I'm working.
These hacks are awesome! Thank you for sharing them. Could you consider adding millimeters to your fraction/decimal charts? They are awesome charts but if it had all 3 I would definitely buy at least 2. Your charts are the easiest to see that I've found and there's pretty much no charts available with all 3 that are easy to glance at in a hurry like yours are.
I buy the 16 oz glue bottles because I like the size to work with and I don't end up wasting it like I do gallon jugs. I keep the bottle upside down in a jar with a bit of water in the bottom, keeps the tip clean and the glue ready to come out with no shaking.
i saw your video on using a shoe compartment. mine was made of web material, so i got clear plastic cups to keep sharp tools from punching holes or cutting the shoe compartment
Wow, those are some great shop hacks. I know plenty of Metal Fab shop hacks, but first time seeing these. Cool thing is they will work in a fab shop as well
I use the back of door show organizers for everything haha pantry, coatcloset for hats and glove, hall closet for hairbrushes and bandaid and stuff, shop for batteries and small tools

This in fantastic April. I especially like the idea of the electrical boxes for storage. While watching this I was already planning a jig to hold the electrical boxes to a piece on the backside of my table saw to collect small pieces for segmented bowls. I love all of your quick tip videos as well as your whole channel in general.
These were awesome, Thank you! Also a big fan of reusing my plastic peanut butter jars for odds and ends. Screw the lids to the bottom of a shelf/board....instant, see thru, free storage. And it keeps the plastic out of trash/recycle bin. Keep up the great content.
-Cover the magnet for the drill press in plasti-dip or resin. If not it will break over time from the key hitting it -Use a wire nut to seal silicone caulk.
2:50 best solution for most of my items. 1. It's universal. You don't want a storage where only one particular tool fits in like those holes, where only one size of a drill fits. 2. You can see it all. No need to open any boxes to look for stuff. 3. Doesn't use much space. It's hanging on a wall, but vertically. Horizontal cupboards usually waste a lot of space. 4. If you need to change your workspace you can easily take it down and hang it up elsewhere.

I can’t find it either despite hours of searching.
A good addition to the magnet drill chuck holder is to add a retractable keychain thing to it so that its tethered to the place and can't possibly be put anywhere else.
