Good for her ... feeling a little down. My dog passed away Fri ..she was 16 yrs old ... thankfully she passed away peacefully .I'd just like to mention a conversation I had with my sister .alot of her friends daughters are depressed .I said I think alot has to do with how the world is nowadays , social media ...I think you compare your life to others ,I'm not on any social media anymore I just don't feel the need to tell people everything about my life .I don't want anyone to know lol.i seen people on there who have like 600 or even 3000 friends that's insane ,those people don't even know you or care about you .....I feel people are in such need of attention it's very sad to me .... People are so addicted to there phones . everywhere I go there staring at there phones ...reality TV is ridiculous .I was watching Fox news and they said there so many people on anti depressents and yet the suicide rate is going up ? ...yes it is part of the brain not working right ,but also society today ....not good I'm emplore young people to get off of social media ...go out do stuff don't compare yourself to others be happy with yourself ...your never gonna look like or be someone else ....just embrace all all the good things about yourself .you have to love yourself first .....they always say your lucky if you have one or two good friends in this life .....but theres nothing like family ,they will always be there for you first and foremost at least in my case .......

Hello Leighann thank you for your thoughtful commentary. This is Jessica from the video. I have worked at an emergency animal hospital for the past seven years. In my experience, there are few losses as great as the loss of a beloved pet. I hope that you are kind and gentle with yourself as you process your grief. Even if the passing was peaceful, so much of our daily life and routine revolves around our pets. My heart goes out to you. I agree with you that social media can have an impact on our self-esteem. A big part of me worries about the way I look in this video, instead of focusing on my kind words. It is a daily struggle to love yourself even if you don't have depression. As Theodore Roosevelt said - "Comparison is the thief of joy."

Hi Jessica’s story was good to hear. Its the middle of the night here in England & I’m really upset.I care for my mother who has Lung cancer ,well it’s all over her.Ive had to watch my dear Mam lose all her weight 😢I’ve always lived at home ,I’m 47 with a history of depression,anxiety,panic...but slowly losing my Mam is horrific for me & I cry every night I’m 😞 sad. This is the most stressed time but it’s also made my anxiety etc at its peak,I can’t help myself much because it’s happening & it’s real so what do you do when the thoughts are real life & I know my beautiful mother is going to leave me broken.Im sorry for writing it’s tough tonight....Thankyou I also have my dogs that give me some comfort 🐶🌻

Very lovely, eloquent young woman. Jessica, Thank you for showing us how strong you are. I think it is especially true that you need to ask for help and not try to do it all by yourself. If I did not have my little Chihuahua dog I don’t know what I would do! He is the best, not only for love but sometimes he distracts me out of a negative thought. Take care.......Wishing you all the best. I think you are a very bright young lady

I'm.gonna try medical marijuana . because I heard it helps alot of people .....im not taking antidepressants anymore cause I don't have any faith in psychiatrists anymore ...

Leighann m : cannabis may help with anxiety and sleep. But don't be afraid to try medication because it can make you feel better. Even if you are fed up with psychiatrists, just focus on learning your own cognitive techniques, because those help too!

Thanks Doug! These are my favorite types of videos where we see people who are struggling on the downslope take the upward steps to get better. She was awesome 👏

I write 6 affirmations ,5 times each, PS. I wanted to ask u personally so do u have email address or something?

Your approach to affirmations sounds fine.
