It’s a guilty pleasure…like cranking that song on the radio when it’s just you in the car. They had two (Kawi version) in the MSF class here a few years ago here in Midland. He put me, and my 6’2” 250+ buddy on them, and I still wonder why. Honestly though, I don’t know which was more fun, riding the bike, or seeing my friend on his. He already had five Harley’s, and he wasn’t too amused. 😂
@@TimKreitzAdventures Not riding, since we were too busy on the bikes but I have one. Him next to the bike and it’s ridiculous. I still have your email I think.
I would love to get one...and just do safe stuff. I would use it in Ontario, Canada and just use it for trips around the area and the occasional trip (not major highways) as my first bike as I head into retirement. Trips to friends cottages...back road trips only as generally that is what I use. We have a decent 6-7 month window to ride here with toys...the other months a ski-doo or atv would be the choice.
Not gonna lie. In 2017 I bought the wife and I a pair of z125’s and we had a blast on them. Probably the most fun riding around angelo we’ve had on bikes.
My first bike was a Kawasaki 125. Speed limits were more like goals on that bike. I'm picking up a Honda VTX 1800 from my Uncle in El Paso. I'm definitely putting that on a trailer back to Arizona and relearn how to ride.
Met 5 guys riding the Blue Ridge Parkway on the Groms and they were having a ball. They were about the Halfway point on the BRP and they were headed to the Tail of Dragon in Tennessee.
Scooters and small bikes like the Grom make perfect sense for urban and city commuting, if my commute was like that I would certainly have had something like it. Cheap to buy, run, insure and easy to maintain, the perfect tool for the job.
I want one so bad but the nearest road with a speed limit less than 70 is 20 miles away. I've rode one before and the entire time I couldn't get Jake the garden snakes Grom intro out of my head. Speaking of owning a Honda I just got my next motorcycle a cbr1000rr after not having had a bike at all for a year and a half and I told my wife that same thing hondas will run for ever
I had one from 2016-2019 and part of that time it was my primary mode. I could hit 60 if there wasn't anything wind and also took it to Odessa on regular occasions I did a more free flow exhaust. I'm thinking about a Monkey to replace it. Your review was spot on about the 3 years I had mine.
This cutest little best boi is the epitome of "It is more fun to ride a slow bike fast, then ride a fast bike slow". This vid was just like the Grom, short but fun!
Howdy Tim! Its been a while bro. I'm glad you like the fun little Grom for what it is. I owned a 2015 Grom for a few seasons. It handled me just fine @ 285lbs at 6'-2"(was doing powerlifting at the time). 55 mph on flat ground without any wind was reasonable, and I remember the tire pressure in the manual of 29psi. Bumped that up to 34 with Michelin Pilot Pure tires and got about high 50's. Since the bike's top speed is greatly effected by wind condition, when behind a car, say 40 or 50 yards behind, I could get 67mph on level ground in a tuck. It was was such a blast to ride it at 103% ALL... THE... TIME! My daughter wanted to buy one and asked me if I'd buy another one too... Long story short, now we both have a 2022 Honda Groms with on order, and they have 5 spd transmissions now. ..and I 'm a bit lighter now than back then. Its supposed to be a little faster now. We shall see! Great to see you having fun! Take care!
I've been doing a bit of study on the newest model and they really do seem quite improved. I like what they did in going back to the round headlight design. Enjoy them and have fun!
Great review, sorry, overview mate. A couple of my mates bought Groms back when they first came out so I had the chance to ride two of them back then. I even made videos of the experiences. Such a fun little bike and you're right, technical specs are not what this bike is all about. Its definitely about the fun factor. One of my mates stunt rides his, which is popular with them over here, as is riding in big groups of them such as the local Grom Squad. The Kawasaki Z125 was also popular for a while too.
I completely agree with your assessment of the intended roads for this bike. City streets are perfect, but highways are terrible! I cruise mine as a goof around bike mostly around our house out of town but take the dirt roads when I take it into town. It’s just too sketchy driving it on 75mph 2-lane roads. And the winds in the open country are not a friend of the Grom! Great to learn on, great as a second (or 3rd) bike, and great to cruise around on with other Grom riders. Nice review!
I've been wanting one of these since they came out. I should have got one when I had the chance but trusted my step dad that had a friend selling a bike. Then got screwed 5k LOL oh well. I well have the grom one day!!!! lol
Great video bro! I feel like the next bike I get will be the Grom. It's true about being no twisties in Midland area besides Tradewinds BLVD 😂. I've definitely made a few UA-cam videos just riding around Tradewinds.
A while back I watched a Kiwi couple do the TAT on two Groms and was really impressed and then started watching Motocheez swapping the engine on his clone and that thing performs really well for what he has in it.
Awesome man! Would be cool to see them hook you up for more test rides in the future 👌 Lol, when I actually do ride it, I love taking that roundabout with my Z125 haha If ya ever would wanna test ride it or compare it, just let me know 👍
Thanks, Tim. This would definitely be a cool bike to ride around on at 2:30 a.m. in the summer when the streets are empty and find an all-night coffee shop or something.
You had a lot of fun on that, it's those little things sometimes. A great little town bike but definitely not a Highway 18 bike, the tankers and service trucks would run you down in seconds out there. Good review!
I'd imagine the CT125X is a great bike. I used to see high-schoolers and college kids riding the original version of that bike a lot when I was a little kid. I always thought they were so cool.
Neat little scooter for what it is. I think they geared that towards students buzzing back and forth to class. Can't see my old fat ass on it, but it's cool! Hmm...maybe if I put my 13 horse Honda engine from my pressure washer on it...
Tim Kreitz Adventures Yeah, I think college kids and people in congested urban areas like NYC, Tokyo, etc., are definitely the target demographic for sure.
I agree it's too expensive. Most new motorcycles are, these days. It's still a really useful learner bike, though. That said, for in-town commuting on a micro-bike, I'd pick a Navi over this.
Excellent vid.
Much appreciated, my friend. :)
Tim on a Grom?! So your coming to MTM2021?!
Sounds like a plan to me ! LOL. Grand Rapids is on my bucket list, just to hang out with you again.
You need one to cruise around with the mini squad!!!!
My wife wants one now. LOL.

There’s actually quite a big group of us on minis in the midessa area
Aww Cute little Kitty and you even had it purring lol! Great video,Keep having fun my friend!
:-D
They are a blast, fuck around with friends, put some knobbies and go trail riding. Great review man 🤙🏽
Agreed. If I owned one of these, it could be getting a set of knobbies for sure. Honda needs to do a "Trail 125" version of the Grom for sure.
Please bring back the motovlog adventures. I miss watching ur channel and exploring west Texas with u!!
I've been thinking about it. Thanks for the encouragement.

Thanks and will do. Cheers.

Thanks for visiting.
Awesome! Wow, Midland has REALLY changed... great video and a cool little bike.
Thanks! Honestly, sometimes I don't even recognize it, especially out there on the west side where all the growth is happeneing.

That's definitely a big step upward, but I'm sure you'll do great. Just take your time and ride within your envelope. Good luck.

I can see doing super twisty roads and switchbacks on a Grom. That little bike loves to turn.
Good review Tim. A lot of college kids here ride Groms. They're great scoots for commuting.
I bet they are easy to fit into a dorm room, too. :)

I can definitely see why so many people stunt these bikes out. They practically beg to be wheelied and stoppied.
That's a great little bike!
Would be fun on the lanes round here.
Cheers Tim.
You would have a big time riding on those roads with it. You'd just need a sidecar for Bruce! :-)

Fun, yes, but not so much around the trucks and such I'd think! Been many years since I rode a small bike like that.
It would definitely be a challenge on any of the major highways in this area. You'd need to think in depth about alternate routes.

There's always Pool Road if you're looking for some high-speed sweepers. Just be careful of the widow-maker.
A while back I watched a Kiwi couple do the TAT on two Groms and was really impressed and then started watching Motocheez swapping the engine on his clone and that thing performs really well for what he has in it.

Crazy ive gotten it up to 71mph on the highway straightaway with just an exhaust but im only 190
I'm only 160 and you saw where it topped out in the video. I'd say that if you were doing 71, you were going down a mountainside in a strong tailwind.

Thanks as always and agreed. It would be a bit of a white-knuckle ride if you took this bike on a truck-filled Interstate. :-)
