The last tip was the best and the most useful for anyone who wants to paint realistically. The other tips were just very good!

Hey, I made it to the end. I'm going to use your 7 tips for pencil sketching instead of oils. The tip about light and dark scale, really all the tips apply to both painting and sketching. Tip #5 use another pencil hardness. LOL. Thanks for the info. You hit the Caproni cast fast and at first glance I thought it was a pencil sketch instead of oil. Realism is realism in whatever medium you pick.

So true! I love drawing, it has always been my comfort zone. And you're right, the application applies to all mediums!

Excellent, Tanner. I hope you do more with the cast + oil idea. Maybe paint just a finger on that hand? I have a question. I don't own any Eclipse brushes but have thought about ordering some. Are they a lot softer than Rosemary Ivory brushes? Do you know how they compare with their Master's Choice brushes? Seems I "need" a couple combers :-)

The Eclipse brushes are softer than the ivory. And I will definitely have a video focused on the rendering process soon, where I will show a specific example of turning form in real time.

great info, i am addicted to painting statues and old ruined buildings but i love to dabble in pop art political satire too.

Very helpful tips! I'll have to start using a mirror for proportions. I sometimes take pictures of the piece with my phone, but I think the mirror might be better. You're so right about patience being important. I'm still working on it at my age. Take care.

Patience with YOURSELF is the most important skill to improve. Trust yourself and know that if you put in the effort and the time, you'll likely come to discover the solutions you seek.

Great tip to not even put the white and black on the pallet until the end!

This has really helped me become much more aware of more subtle changes in value. Try it out!

Thank you for the tips! It would be interesting to see a video on color mixing, maybe from a limited pallet (something that would be good from a beginner standpoint such as primaries or what you would recommend to start with). I am looking at trying oil paints but don't have a huge budget so it would be nice to have a precise color list to choose from when starting out. Thanks!
