We also usually give $10 per day in tips.
I know it’s difficult for Australians to do that, it’s not really in our culture.
Truly these people work long and hard hours for their money, and Jules is 100% correct, many are also working for their village community.
Try and remember their names, say hello, you will be rewarded with the biggest smile. A lot of passengers, treat them as faceless people, and they are not. If you feel one person stands out, mention them by name in your survey, it helps them to be singled out and move up the ladder. They are all trying their very best to help you, sometimes under difficult conditions.

I had to look it up. Thats only $66 American dollars (roughly). We were on a 15 day cruise last month. We don't do the "mandatory" tips so we tip our steward and wait staff individually. We tipped each $450 for the entire cruise. They were very good to us.

Longer cruises offer a greater opportunity to get to know the room stewards.
If I frequent a bar and get great service, I tip.
On longer cruises I often tip on the first day or so, then more each fee days over the cruise.

I agree. I know on our most recent cruise our server said she was able to get off the ship for a few hours in the afternoon. It was Hawaii. I'm sure she was happy to get any time off.

@joieb340 It can also depend on the itinerary and their roster if the crew can go off on some ports. Often, servers and bar staff can help during the disembarkion process, guiding passengers off the ship.

That's a great amount to tip ❤❤ we have always had 2 cabin stewards and we usually tip them $20 each, but maybe we are tipping way too low. They always seem really happy to get the money though ❤❤ our first ever cruise we only gave them $10 each as had no idea what we should give. Maybe we can increase it again on our cruise in November ❤
