- Zoot Allures, from Zappa's album "Zoot Allures", 1976.
I tried to play the guitar as similar as possible to the original recording, but I had to add some fills to compensate the lack of feedback present in the recording.
At the end I improvise a little solo with a slide. The drums on that part are taken from MrMaxiAcDance's backing track: • Frank Zappa, Zoot Allu...
Guitar: Gibson SG Special Worn Brown 2011
Amp: Roland Cube 40GX
DAW: Ardour 5
Plugins: Fabfilter Pro-R and Valhalla UberMod
Fills my heart with joy seeing youngsters appreciating Frank.
Same.
A masterpiece. Well done young man. Keeping Frank's music alive.
Wonderful! Great tone on your SG. You've captured Frank very well. You have a great ear. A very fine tribute. Music is the BEST! Nice addition of the slide.
Makes me miss my SG... That would make Frank and Dweezil proud!!
Very good playing young man. FZ would smile hearing that.
I had to learn how to do that from the record back in the 70's! Trying to work out all those chords was brain scrambling. But I managed it! It teaches you a lot just sitting on your own and listening, over and over and over and over and......
Not much good for your vinyl though!
I used to travel as a geologist throughout the southwest of the US, mid 70’s mid 80’s, and would stop at every record store looking for music and of course FZ... as SOON as i got home, the vinyl was cleaned, played and then recorded onto a Pioneer FT1100 (or something like that) to cassettes... my albums are still very pure as THEY were MY masters and I treated them royally ... I have of course replaced everything with CDs... but those vinyls are STILL my masters... and still in the collection...
I still don’t think my wife knows today what what I paid for all those bootlegs (over 75 I think) that I collected over the years... makes me smile though when I pull them out and put them on the record player....
Wow! That was BRILLIANT!! Thank You for sharing and for keeping Frank's music alive!
quite amazing! one of Franks best
Really superb. Lovely touch and sound. Excellent rendition. Well done. Extremely inspiring.
I like this. A lot. I hear a very literal and clean interpertation of the original and a very 70's sound to the improv. Nice.
One of my absolute favorite Frank Zappa songs and a great interpretation. Bravo, Sir!
Thank you so much what a joy
Love it. After watching you do that I was able to play it in no time.
Well done! and thanks a lot.
Superbe interprétation de " Zoot Allures" de Big Frank, une interprétation "libre" comme celle de Zappa . Bravo!
Well done young man.
If you can play any Zappa tunes there’s no stopping you! Great playing young man!
Mhm it's just effort exercise and endurance anyone can reach it Amen
Frank IS allways here! Great job
I enjoyed that. Nice slide at the end !
No joke cover
bravo !!!!👍👍
Brother that was beautiful! It’s one of my favorites from the same named album! I was fortunate I got to see him perform a few times in fact I was at the Halloween show at the Palladium in NYC back in the 70’s best version of Black Napkins ever!! Keep it flowing you are amazing!!🎶🎵🎸🙌🏻😎
Surprised this channel don't have a million subs...
Wonderful.
hard to play that well on a glass slide with such a clean and trebley tone. hats off, young man!
Beautifully done. I want to learn this song and I know it will take a long time of watching people like you play it. Thank you!
Beautiful. You are an inspiration.
Bravo! Grana bel pezzo. Pensavo fosse un'accordatura aperta ed invece...👌
There is a great surgeon in those hands. Fine touch.
one thumb up for your stellar playing. if I could, 2 thumbs up for you being young with an appreciation for the past. it makes it even more impressive but your playing does that just fine on it's own.
Ellegant !
Great guitar skills
Like it just as much as the original
This man rules! Love this tune...
What a lovely belated Christmas gift
Absolutely brilliant, excellent on target guitar cover. Thanks.
that fucking solo tho man god damn
Bravo
Very well done, I've been learning this for a couple of months and have the bare bones but my fingering is not secure and I don't know the bits in-between. Now I do. Thank you and good luck with your future playing. 😊
Very Good!!!!!!
Very nice. And that slide solo was just great, what a touch you have with that!
Beautiful interpretation
Very nice, Thanks ! I think that Frank enjoys it, too.
Il solo col bottleneck è una delle cose più melodiche e intriganti che ho sentito ultimamente!! Bravissimoo
Well done. I like the bluesy digression at the end.
Beautiful rendition
Good job looking forward to next video.
I like your delicate touch. You have the right idea.
Such a good song. Thanks for sharing. i learned a bit or two now too :)
Really nice!
Well done.
Really well done!
Beautiful performance!
Doing the tremolo with the left hand? Now that is cool!

Brilliant performance, Alejandro, did you transcribe all of that by ear? Amazing technical skills and the performance was spot on, well done.
Thank you. Although I do most of my transcriptions fully by ear, on this one I had an aid from Gruthrie Govan's transcription of this song. It was published on some magazine I can't remember. Some chords I would not agree with Guthrie, so I changed them. The fills are also "mine" (its all really Frank's here) and of course the solo is improvised. Cheers!
Omg
I’m the 1000th like!
👏👏👏😊👍
Slide solo was a nice touch at the end. Perhaps that chord just before the solo could be a G#7(#5)(#9)?
Starting on the D string: F# C D## A## (F#CEB, with G# in the bass). This provides an altered dominant just before the solo vamp of C#m11 to F#7sus. The note F# is heard as pedal point in this section, especially in the marimba.
It makes sense... I will check this tomorrow! Thank you!
Hey! I tried this and it is definitely the chord you are saying. What I'm playing (D13) is basically the same chord because tritone subtitution, but It lacks a very prominent E heard in the recording, and your voicing fits much better with the original recording as well. If I ever do a revision of this I'll change the chord. Thank you very much!!
👍
What version SG you using Alejandro?
Quero ouvir e ver solo inca roads
