Not only did everything broke on the boat, even your account nearly went broke.
Gabe,if you want to become a millionaire from fishing and hunting, start out as a Billionaire...
Guess naming that boat Mad Chaos allows it to live up to its name! Dang that’s a big price tag. But the videos are great!! Keep up the hard work.
You’ll always have Pearl and I watching and a bunch of her 28 grand kids. Keep up the good spirit!
Gabe thanks for reminding me to buy a new boat under warranty.
Your doing a great job man!! Love your videos!
Last fall I came close to dropping $145k on a 28CC. I wasn't under a lot of pressure, but just enough that I didn't feel comfortable pulling the trigger. It's stories like yours that make me feel a lot better about my decision. In the future, I will definately not buy anything used without a full survey. Thanks for the content, I'm now a new subscriber.
You ain't kidding about making videos being alot of work. I thought I was gonna start a channel for outdoor activities like this channel and quickly realized how much goes into it.just getting people I hunt and fish with on board to be on videos isn't easy.these people work all week like me and when they get a chance to hunt or fish or enjoy the outdoors on their time off not everyone wants to be on video or has the patience to be. I'm not asking for actors or for them to act differently then normal but there is alot of extra steps to filming a hunt or fishing trip. Then when it isn't a successful trip or hunt it feels unworthy of posting for lack of entertainment value.ive asked to film my friends hunts for whitetail and most just kinda laugh it off. I know they are serious about their hunts and don't want any added scent ,noise, fidgeting around with stands and gear that could be a damper on their success so I have stopped asking for now.
Time to fix the door handles on the house. They don't match! ;) Great channel!
Sorry for the boat but you are good to go! Can't wait to see the final product!
13000 good God, we here in the Midwest do not, will not ever charge that much. I do Travel so if anyone needs small or major major work on boats, please please please get a hold of me . Makes my heart hurt that if a company lives close to boats and always charge too much because it's big business. It's unfair to the consumer charges whatever they want. I'm not talking bad on anyone but overcharging is heartbreaking
I agree with you 100% it's plain evil. Just like the world knows we need eggs babies need diapers and formula and what do they do jack up the prices. I've been working in the grocery store business for most of my life and I'm so tired of people ripping people off
Florida pays high labor. I'm a painter and I can get $25 to $35 per hour starting in Palm Beach. One of the highest starting wages in the country. I'm sure he's just charging what everyone else is in the area.
He said $31k NOT $13k and I agree it’s way overcharged
@@JayandLisa it adds up, 150 to 200 hours is $20,000. Plus the new tanks, plus the anti-skid coating. 31k makes sense. I'd have to charge $1500 just to do the anti-skid coating. Don't forget the tax on all the parts too!
That is the problem there is a lot of money in Florida. So many people don’t bat an eye at spending whatever it cost just because they can. That is the reason boat prices are so much higher in Florida. Man has money, man wants boat, man spends money with no negotiating.
A qualified and honest marine mechanic is worth the money. My 50 years' experience owning boats is they are hard to find.
Winged 🦄. I’ve heard of these mythical creatures….. “Qualified & Honest Marine Mechanic”. Never actually seen one with my own eyes though.
Yep and unicorns are real !
Most boat owners are so focused on the price of everything, they pressure the mechanic to cut corners. The best maintained boats have an honest mechanic AND an open checkbook.
Sorry to hear about ur fuel tank but let it be known that contenders are notorious for bad fuel tanks!! I’ve been there too
Boat stands for (B) break (O) out (A) another (T) ten thousand
Do a great job Gabe, your girlfriend gets the views too my dude
Blue Gabe, Loved the video and hate that you went through that. But you still haven't responded to the people that got you to this point. That's my only issue . Good Luck.
B.O.A.T ....... in Bluegabe's case stands for Bust Out Another $10,000.00. ;-)
😢Guess I should have gone to look at it before you bought.
Gabe, thanks for sharing the quality info in this video, not only regarding your boat and cost but the background info on how you and other UA-camrs make a living. I respect you and all the other folks I follow daily a lot more after what I just learned. You did not need to share that information but you did which is why I love your channel.
Normal wear and tear for tank failures in contenders or lousy parts/qc?
Anytime you throw down that kind of money you must get a survey from someone who is familiar with the brand of boat you are buying. You learned an expensive lesson. There are lots of dishonest people out there. Aviation is the same way.
Hey Gabe, thanks for the transparency. This was an important video to watch with the kids, we love the adventures, but everyone needs to see that it takes a lot of work. Oh and thanks for introducing us to the @tugtrash content
Yes I really enjoy Ian and his family a lot too.
Comparing the cost of a new Contender equivalent to yours I think you will be in better shape.
hey Gabe this isn't something i ever do but i love your content for the exact reasons you mentioned with doing a bit of everything and i genuinely enjoy watching all of your videos and have so for about 3 years now, is there any way im able to flick yo a bit of cash to help out with stuff?
also i look forward to seeing this .410 i have a little single shot break action .410 with a 13'' barrel and suppressor and it is one of my favourite guns, very simple but so much fun
Gabe, please understand for some of us you are doing alot more than just giving us something to watch.. I look forward to your videos for a get away and stress relief.. on top of that you have taught me and many others alot of things.. for me it's fishing.. I know hunting very well but I also learned better ways to dress animals from you.. but for fishing you have taught me alot.. I can't express my gratitude enough.. you have encouraged me to be out more in the wild and spend more time with my niece's and nephews and teach them what you have taught me.. so this crazy amount of money, blood, sweat, and tears, you have put into this has done alot for alot of people.. and on top of that seeing you be a great family man and father has taught alot of lessons also.... I am an electrician and I feel I am hard working.. but your can do attitude and endless Go for it outlook pushes us to do even more.... I don't want to sound like a kiss ass fan boy but man.... sometimes it takes another hard working successful man to push us to that next step.... TGBTG and best of luck my man!!
You would have better off buying a brand new boat
@@patcrowe9780 Nope. Still costs less to buy used and fix up. Then again problem number 1 is he bought an overpriced brand. 😂
Plus the UA-cam channel finances what you are most passionate about, fishing/boating, hunting, cooking, traveling and spending time with your boys! Not a bad trade off considering the majority of us has to work anyway (So do what you love in front of a camera)
5,832 views in 41 minutes Let's Share this video like crazy to help pay for his tanks. share it in your feed on facebook and your story
Just another Whay Whay Vid from Bluegabe LOL.. Keep em coming bro...
Definitely an eye opener for Contender boats, they boast to be one of the best built boats. I’m sure the dude loves making a living doing a bunch of those. He didn’t specifically say 20-30 new tanks a year on Contenders but I think he specializes in them. I think I’d be a lot disappointed in their quality. Thanks for the truth and honesty about your used boat. I know used boats cost a ton in repairs, but you got kicked pretty hard in the nuts on yours.
When I was young, my dad told me that a boat is just a hole in the water that you throw money into. I take it that your dad never had that talk with you.
Gabe i bought a Trailer house for 5 bucks. Had it moved for a 100 dollars and i did all the work myself. which was extensive and i live in it. you should have heard the people laughing hahahaha and now they aren't. So do what you can, and what your heart tells you, and you will always come out on top and the Hell with other people.
Personally, I would never buy a boat older than 3 years old.
Gabe, thanks for sharing some of the behind the scenes that we don’t think about.
You are doing a great job with your channel while being a great Dad too.
It is like I told you at the turkey show in Nashville, it is the variety of things you do from the water to the woods to the kitchen to the Family that set you apart.
Only you and your brother Robert do so many different things at an expert level!
Keep up the great work 😊 Praying for your continued success.
Man that sucks but I get it being an auto mechanic myself I see lots of stuff just like that but on cars . I feel for ya buddy but you’ll be back at it in no time, can’t wait for the upcoming content 👍🏻👍🏻😎
Grandpa always said. Son, if it sucks, fks or floats ya better dang rent it!
No you didnt! Dammit man what a drag it is to buy trash.Hang in there Florida STRONG.
There’s an old saying I remember hearing as a kid… You know what boat stands for don’t ya?? Bust out another thousand!! And believe me ITS TRUE TOO!!🤷♂️💰💰😂
I just play the videos on the background while I work. Like you said it just one view but it adds up.
I watch all your videos I don't have a boat but I did raise five kids and my wife won't stop spending money on nine grandchildren but it's okay wouldn't change anything keep up the great work
All that money sucks but I would LOVE to say me as a watcher of EVERY video of yours we appreciate you!!!..
Society of Accredited Marine Surveyors
Should be your first resource when dropping large coinage!
Glad you got her fixed tho.
Dang it man! Maybe you'll be good here on out
Well Gabe I know it sucks to spend that kind of money but look at the bright side at least you know everything that's been done to the boat it's gonna be like new and right now a boat that size would cost More than what you Have put into that 1 because boats are so ridiculously over priced right now
What a massive disappointment Gabe. Thing is, those 31 Contenders have a history of tank problems. So sorry your turnkey dream boat turned into such an expensive repair. You have the right attitude though. All the money and time spent and you now have a great boat that will last you for years to come.
I spent 4k for a 27' cc. I then spent 2 1/2 years and 40k stripping it to the skin and completely rebuilding her. Next month my engine goes on and the grouper off Pine Island are already getting nervous!
Thats an expensive way to learn a lesson! Sucks but I bet you wont ever buy used again. Always prefer buying new when possible. Looking forward to all the videos in the summer on your new and improved Contender!
Thanks for the breakdown gabe a lot of people don’t know ….big up u self …..
What a shit show Contender should refund you. I have a 1986 Grady Whitr 223 Tournament, I replaced the fuel tank and the floor over the fuel tank and fresh water tank screw right up.
Keep up the good attitude
any shore fishing recommendations in or around palm beach gardens... jupiter is nearby hows that park near the inlet for fishing this time of year? dubois park i think
We just bought a 32ft luhrs open, it was worth paying for the $1200 survey. Always get a survey!!!!!!!
Gotta admit Gabriel..... it beats runnin a skid steer 12 hours a day 6 days a week eh!! Keep on truckin Hoss.... 1 bite at a time.
It's just money. Don't give up. I need stuff to watch at work lol
Forget these contenders then !!! Moving on to look at other boats !
Good thing YT is paying you so much. Otherwise, you'd have to do like everyone else and sue the previous owner for false advertisement. This is an excellent video on why NOT to buy a used Contender.
Glad to help you make a living. It's not a piece of cake, but you are one of the best content creators out here with the help of your wonderful two boys... and, of course, your dog.
I'll watch you often bluegabe I think you do an excellent job with your videos all the fishing hunting and traveling spending time with your boys and new girlfriend you have your parents on there that's awesome I wish I could still do that and I love all your little tips on cooking going out and Landon U-Boat on a beach and cooking up out there seventies words might not be perfect because I'm talking into the phone because it's hard for me to press the button and since I'm from Louisiana this phone doesn't understand Cajun too much LOL much luck to you and your family keep the videos coming I'll keep watching I used to watch deermeatfordinner but I prefer your videos more take it easy my friend
Gabe, you might have more into it than it's worth but keep in mind you have brand-new 300's with full warranty. So basically other than the hull itself you have a brand new boat. How much would it be to buy that boat new today?
I like all your videos it's really interesting to see the whole picture the good and the bad you do a awesome job keep it up
Just think you just went a year younger in this video since you were 43 on your last birthday. Boat name should change from Max Chaos to UTTER CHAOS
Maybe the original owner did pay for the new three tanks to be put in but the contractor guy only put in one tank and ripped the guy off for the cost of the other tanks.
Plus I didn't see no new rifle I seen a box hahaha
Ah I so sorry that you have to go through that, wow a lot of money to spend on a boat that you already bought.,,, that $$$ could've been spent on the boys or a trip to Puerto Rico 🇵🇷, or Aruba 🇦🇼 Jamaica 🇯🇲...anyway I really do wish you luck and please have a good night sleep....love ya guys , BLUE GABE 💙
You know what they say about a boat being a hole in the ground to throw your cash in, you have dug a nice one. We can tell you are an equipment operator.
Your hard work that brought you 800k subs will make this setback just a bump in the road hopefully.
Great video as always, Gabe. As far as the Stevens shotgun is concerned, I have a single barrel that was given to my father by his dad, who then gave it to me when I was 14. I think my late grandfather bought it at Sears for about $60. That's the best turkey gun I own. I'll put it up against a $1,200 Benelli any day.
Blue Gabe your luck is just like mine. Keep up the great work you are doing. When the boys get older they will know what life is about. Not someone just sitting in a house playing games. Boys you two watch your dad and you will learn lows from him.
Sorry to hear bro sucks, just think about the memories you’ll get soon beautiful boat either way but sucks that you had to spend all this money to get it shipshape
Your boat is worth putting all this money Gabe . YOLO 😁
That sucks, but it can always be worse. With the bad also comes the good. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Ouch ! Sounds like you should have bought a new boat. I use a sleep number bed myself.
Gabe, a job is a job but when you love your job you love life. People have to remember that UA-cam is a job when you're doing it right and there is always overhead costs. The downfall with a lot of UA-camrs is that they do not get to spend time with their family, however, you and Robert managed to do the complete opposite and really love and adore your family and incorporate them into the videos as well as instilling life learning lessons to the children. God bless both of you and your families!
Should come on up to Edgewater and pick out a new EverGlades with a sea keeper in it. Or wait til our new 315 comes out that boat is gonna be sick.
It sounds like this boat has given you a bigger headache than anything! Also put a years salary for some people into the boat…! Glad you got everything all worked out on that thing! It’s name should be “pain of the sea” 🤣 can’t wait to see the awesome videos you put out on that thing!
Sounds Like My Story Also Boats Can Be a Bottom Less Money Pit
A behind the scenes look at Gabe's youtube channel. This does seem like a lot of work when you get down to it.
Bro you do a great job not getting rich it's work but you are having some fun the boys are great .God bless you and yours, now go use the hell out of that boat.
gabe start a meat only diet it will change your life
You do a great job making quality content. I get to live vicariously through you because I’m an old crippled man. Keep up the good work. I love watching your videos.
Day in life of a boat owner.
He sounded a little uncomfortable talking prices 😂
Glad you fixed the boat don't want to see the wife and kids blown up oh and thanks for the guy took trash out doors I like his show just like I like yours and your wife 👍👍👍🇺🇸💪✌️♥️🙏
Damn and at the end of the day you still have a 15 year old
Hull and pretty much the same amount of money into her
Thanks Blue Gabe ......
Always looking forward to new uploads ....... JUST KEEP DOIN WHAT U DOIN ......
getting up outta here
A wise man once told me that a boat is just like a bottomless hole in the ground to throw money into . That wise man and his wife ( my dad and mom) named our 34' CrisCraft Cabin Cruiser Sisyphus , after a legendary king of Corinth, condemned eternally to repeatedly roll a heavy rock up a hill in Hades only to have it roll down again as it nears the top. Hang in there buddy , it's going to get better .
Water. A hole in the water. It's a boat.
@@superblump87 Kinda hard to dig a hole in water , or find one for that matter . 🤔🤨😮
@Lesko Brandon look up what a "whirlpool" is. Either way, it's a metaphor and the common phrase is "A boat is a hole in the water you pour money into.".
@@superblump87 Yeah , but mine makes more sense . So it's liquid money ?Can you pour it out of a cup or do you need a bucket ? Who has time to search the world for a whirlpool when you can dig a hole virtualy ANYWHERE?I can do this all day if you are up to the challenge.🥸
I know your pain had a 36’ Silverton convertible leaky fuel plumbing and tanks sold it many years ago but yes It was scary having fuel slosh down there.
you were an easy mark. that's why I have never bought a used boat. lesson learned.
You should do a video on due diligence when buying a boat. I’m sure it would be a video to watch. Also, never forget that fire can be your friend. Just sayin’. 🤔
Bought my 243cc in Stuart when the boat was 9 years old but it failed inspection with the previous buyer same issue and came back on the market. Everglades was cool and replaced it for free because it fell inside their 10 year window. I hear the powder coated aluminum tanks last about 10 years, give or take, depending on conditions. Don't think I would have known this was a thing otherwise because I only had flats boats and skiffs. Sorry to hear, I know is no fun but at least you literally bullet proofed it now. Nothing left to replace. P.S. hook me up with your rewire guy please.
Praying for you guys! Thanks for sharing your great videos. Your awesome!
Ok copy good to know
NEVER BUY A CONTENDER !!!!!!!
I hear ya .....
Love ur channel n videos
Peace love Health n Happiness
Keep fishing never stop
RAIDERNATION4LIFE
I’ve always heard that a boat is a hole in the water for which to throw your money. Guess it’s true 😂😬😢
BlueGabe, Jesus Christ loves your cares on Him.
Awesome video, I have to ask Gabe. Would you purchase a new Contender knowing what you know now? I use to buy boats just to restore, but unfortunately, the profit margin is just too low, in my opinion.
Turmeric capsules and Gabe it relieves inflammation. I lectured using science-based evidence at the university so for me to recommend turmeric defies my usual beliefs. Give it a go. Gabe your videos are fascinating, fishing, hunting, parenting, and cooking. Way to go . Your personal life is just that, personal. The boys are growing beautifully and I tear up sometimes when they are saying grace.
Moral of the story is don't buy a Contender? 😅 Thanks for the update, hope it's done soon. If you're ever in the Sarasota area let us know.
I’m sorry, enough money can fix almost anything.
THE VERY FIRST"THING YOU DO IN BUYING A USED BOAT IS A FUEL PRESSURE TEST,AT LEAST FOR 30 MINUTES. I KNOW, WHATS DONE IS DONE.And mabe you got one and it didn't leak. But if anyone ever buys new or used,DEMAND getting a fuel pressure test. Pulling fuel tanks COSTS$$$ AS GABE JUST SAID,ENOUGH SAID.
Not that you owe anyone an explanation… but the transparency is certainly appreciated! It seems like the only way to make it really big on UA-cam anymore is to buy expensive stuff and destroy it or stage fake pranks. I’m glad you are able to make a wholesome video that is entertaining and still keep it real with the audience. One thing, as I’m sure you know, doing a blog style video showing more of your daily life rather than big trips is generally a hit, and it costs way less! Keep it up amigo!
What the crazy part is the guy that sold you the boat was on the contender fb page saying how that was such a great boat this, that and saying he kinda regrets selling it. Did you get the boat surveyed when you bought it cause they would have been able to point out most of the problems you have had except maybe the tanks ?
Yes I got it surveyed. 3 days after buying it I found a big leak in the back of the boat with water poring in. The best part is the surveyor said they put it in the water and everything was fine.
That’s what I get for using someone out of Miami 🤦♂️
You should have him put military grade non-skid on your boat. Lmao. That's what they put on the flight deck and in the hangers. AND I PROMISE YOU, a phrase comes out of the Navy that goes "Non-skid is unforgiving" and that it is. OMG!! Is it unforgiving!! IT WILL take flesh off and is FAR worse then Road rash. 🤣🤣
