Fantastic work, Sam, well done. You must’ve put in the hours on this one, lots of research, tons of work, and you’ve come up with tasty satisfying and cost-friendly dishes. Much appreciated. 🙏
I’m Irish ☘️🇮🇪☘️Sam and ❤️ me 🥔 but I’m in awe at the way you came up with so many amazing spud dishes! It’s crazy. Were you a mad scientist in your past life? Oh and I thought a bloke called Sir. Walter Rally brought spuds to this part of the world. More of this please 🙏 👍
I’m going to try making some of these for sure! I’ve nearly always used the peelings for snacks as hey, why waste them? Plus good for you eating the skins. I make a simple dip for them. Great video that’s given me great ideas!
Would have been even more delicious and indulgent to use the onions in place of scallions and make Chinese Scallion Pancakes. The rich, flaky layers are so much more interesting than a regular flat bread.
Had to rush off early video to make those flat breads, used frozen onions cos it's what i had, not quite as good but they soften so quickly that it sped up the process considerably, really nice, would recommend!
That LOTR joke making onion rings? I knew I liked you for a good reason. My partner & I are constantly arguing potato vs onion being better. He claims to hate onion even though he actually doesn’t when I cook. It’s probably our favorite argument we do multiple times.
Sam, thank you thank you thank you ❣️I love stuffed peppers but because they are a nightshade I don't eat them anymore. If I adjust the stuffing, and use an onion "presto/chango" a wonderful replacement 👌
A ricer is terrific for mash, but if you don't have the hand/wrist strength to operate one, an electric masher (or an immersion blender with a masher attachment) works beautifully. I have a Salton Masha that's never failed me.
I made a fantastic soup recently, made the stock and everything from a cheap whole chicken. It was fab. Would have been even better if i had not over cooked it a bit as i forgot it was on :(. Top tip, break all the chickens bones before you make stock out of it to get that marrow goodness . I think its good you are showing that you can make real food for cheaper than all that ready meal rubbish. A lot of people who are not that well off eat a lot of pre made stuff that is not only bad for them but much more expensive!
pineapple vs banana tofu vs mushrooms canned chickpeas vs canned baked beans rice vs spagetthi dry beans vs rice carrot vs sweet potato orange vs lemon milk vs butter sorry i dont know the cost of these in the UK 😮
The Spanish weren't "explorers"; they were conquistadors. The foods taken back to Europe from the Americas weren't part of some neutral cultural exchange; they were part of the plunder. Let's just be honest about our history, yes?
Which two ingredients should participate in the next £1 Ingredient Olympics?
Beans? Or maybe a freezer section £1 face off 🙈
Carrots you can buy relatively cheaply and you can get several banana's for £1 too.
Apples Versus Carrots. Both cheap, easily available and work in a cake or as a handy snack.

Some great ideas there. I do like my mashed potatoes with a bit of texture though.
It's amazing how many onions one can get for £1. I need to find a really good onion soup recipe.
Great video Sam!👍👍👍

What type of flour is used to make the onion flatbread? Plain or self raising?
