Tip for anyone removing the sidelight. Use a gardening glove. The ones with the grippy rubber. I tried for ages with my hands couldnt get the grip and kept hurting myself. Put on the gloves it was instant. Maybe i got lucky but saved me having to remove the headlight entirely. And thank you SMART E.R. Very thorough video.
It’s on my list for today but the access to the rear of assembly is SO tight. Will try that 90 degree twist though - thanks for the advice! If not, have to fork out £15-20 for Halfords to struggle with it!
@@MorningtonCrescent be patient. Take your time. And don’t force anything. Halfords in my experience aren’t that familiar with these. That’s how this channel started after visiting Halfords and them wanting £12 to fit.
Then my work here is done 🙏😂😂 you’ve got the mail on the head. That’s the main reason for the video. Easier for you to comprehend where everything is and goes.
Thanks so much, I needed to change a bulb and Halfords wanted £3.50 plus £16 to fit, I bought 2 Bosch bulbs from Amazon for £3, and with your help, I’ve saved £32.50 and got quality bulbs too, thanks again
How did you get the head light out? Isn't that an important step? The side lights on my wife's car don't want to twist out and access is so tight they feel like they will break. I need to remove the lights to get a better safer grip on them closer to the base,
broderp thanks for the reply. That’s a fair comment about them breaking off. I think in the video I mention squirting some wd 40 In The location and letting it soak. It’s very robust plastic I sincerely honestly doubt it will break. I removed the headlamp so you guys n gals won’t have to. To get the headlamp our is a massive task and time consuming. You need to remove the two wings and front panel off the car as well as the bonnet it takes a good couple of hours. I actually snapped the aerial in The process. Beat of luck. Wd40 😉
Yea I want to know how he got the whole assembly out of the car. I plan on refurbishing the lens to make them clear again and dont want to damage the body panels in the process
Yeah, I need to know how to disconnect the wires. Plastic not too worried about but pulling a wire out of the socket it would be better to not follow this video at all.
this video helped me! i would’ve pulled the wrong thing out. i still haven’t got it yet, but this helped me locate it. Ugh. I’m having to work outside in this heat too which sucks but it’s no big issue, i gotta spoil my smart 😉.
Richard Smith thanks very much for the kind words! I 100% just fumbling around was filling me with dread at the risk of breaking something. Taking out the lamp in full definitely helps visualise things
Ha! Ha! Yours is the easy access version - we only had the air vent to get through! Tip for anyone else - stainless steel kitchen spatula makes a useful mirror in tight spots! And don't even think about changing a fog light bulb....... thanks again for the vid.
A video from start (still on the body of the car) would be more helpful. I am trying not to pull wires out of their sockets while getting this out. You said it was a pain. I agree.
How do you turn that side light (parking light) on ? Mine always off i out a used bulb in it it didn't work ... So not sure if something wrong with mine
Big Big tip to add to your excellent video. The sidelight/Parking bulb can be very difficult to remove and to complicate matters the offside one is clockwise to remove and the nearside is counter clockwise. Ridiculous. For some reason it can be so difficult to turn especially in the confined space plus initially you wonder which way to turn it. However my tip is to smear normal household vaseline/Petroleum Jelly on the O Ring seal when putting it back. This makes it so much easier to install/remove in future. Thanks for you video.

Jason Kornik that is a bit of a job. Took me about an hour and a lot of patience. I did video it but the file was corrupt. You basically, have to remove the WHOLE front end. Front slam panel and both wings which are ONE unit. YES, ONE COMPLETE UNIT. There are bolts you simply can’t get at to remove the lamp otherwise. You will need either and indoor area or a wind free day to do this. Here is a link of the guy that I copied when I did it. Best of luck ua-cam.com/video/WC059Pzf3DE/v-deo.html

The side light, is on position one on the left hand stalk one rotation until a click will engage the side light. Hope this helps
Really helpful. Cheers from Portugal.
I’m sorry I missed that. You are so very welcome. Thank you for taking the time to appreciate
what type of light shoul i look for? what if i want a different colour?
Miguel Alejandro Reyes Luzardo explain “different colour ..”?? Which lamp? Main beam? Dipped?
the side light(parking)
Great vid dude. Informative, clear, concise and easy to follow 👍
Mistertoo Tech cheers G kind words..
My main lamp is faulting, wire insulation falling off, need to remove the assembly and repair somehow.
Sounds like you will need some room. Probably best take the whole light unit out for better access and repair. Just a suggestion

Nope. There isn’t a video in this but watch the video for locations it’s doable from the service area with the whole lamp assembly in place
