bea, is such a much loved character, she is one of my favorites along with lizzie, judy, suzy, doreen, helen, meg, margo steve and jim. such a well rounded and great cast.wonderful show, i have been watching this for a month and im really loving it. thanks for uploading this show. you have done a great job.

A man does not stop thinking those same girls are cute just because some years have gone by. Experienced women generally know that about men. 80 year old men regularly recall the cute girls when they were young. I also met with "Barbara Fields" last year and told her I had a crush on her growing up and still do watching the series back... we had a good laugh about it! 😄
This must be amazing for first time viewers. Most UK folk would of seen this around 2 to 3 times. Central TV (or other local itv network) back in late 80s Friday Saturday and Sunday nights. Then again on channel 5 in the 90s .
I''m UK and only ever seen these episodes since I got the DVDs some ten or so years ago. I was in the Meridian region who I don't believe ever finished the series, and were constantly taking the show off for weeks on end, or to show snooker. We couldn't get analoque Channel 5 in Kent either because its frequency interfered with French TV.
Sometimes I wonder why I waste my life watching this far fetched prison soap opera. Vera should be the governor of Wentworth and Davo should have been fired she's awful at her job.
oh so many things made me laugh in this episode..and,for once,the right reasons! Lizzie's line about ..'they put some funny things in shampoo these days' was the best. i'm surprised Steve didn't go all the way through that 'brick' wall.
@ 42:00 - They filmed the fire scenes inside the cell with a 16mm handheld film camera. That’s why it looks so different from the interspersed hallway shots.
@@zombiemaradona it was probably shot with a small handheld 16mm whereas the video cameras of the day were huge pedestal mounted behemoths. Probably done this way to protect the equipment in close quarters.
I love how the end fire sequences is shot with film. It gives it such a dramatic look. Wish it was all shot like that. And potential would of meant we could of technically had a true HD version
The only time film cameras were used on the show during the cell fire scenes. Love Computer Crime as an incidental music track, it builds the final scene up

Ah, yes this is the episode where they had to do the fire scene in a special fire-proof building, which explains why the lighting is different in those scenes. It almost looks like it was shot on film.
I hope Margo isn't gone permanently. I really enjoy her character. Vera hasn't had much of a break from the old gang lol. Erica has to think of a better way to handle Helen. Or at least provide more satisfactory answers to the women about the situation. She used to not mind standing up to the department. Now she's always saying get hands are tied.
If you were a screw, why wouldn't you search Lizzie's hamper every single time you saw her with it? She's always up to no good when she has it, and there's invariably contraband of some kind under the lid. Even when there's not, she's on her way to break a rule somewhere. I'm surprised Davo hasn't issued a prisonwide order to ensure Lizzies and hampers stay apart at all times.
When he asks "which cupboard" I would've got frustrated just like Colleen did. But then Colleens on such a high horse, what could've Carol Lewis really have done? Dougie was a bully and not mentally well and she was knocked out cold by him the whole time Jenny was raped.

They filmed it at a different studio on film instead of the usual videotape because they decided the fire was too bright for the videotape - in the early 80s video was not as advanced and bright light would cause too much glare, drowning out the rest of the picture. If you look carefully you can see the cell is quite different, with a mirror and sink right next to the door, and the 'mortar' of the bricks is too light, :)

Time they let Helen out of the pound, she's been stuck in there long enough. Erica states that she runs the prison and not Bea, well if she did her job better and tried to understand how Helen was suffering in solitary then Bea wouldn't have had to take matters into her own hands. She's a great top dog who time and again proves she cares about the people she is in charge of, unlike Marie! No Erica, Carol wasn't lucky to get a light sentence, but rather it was justice being served where it was warranted. Good job by Doreen starting the diversion fire, at least she can do something properly.
Susie, a minor, has committed no crime except being orphaned at a young age of 9, been falsely imprisoned in an adult women's prison and is now waiting for parole. This is how justice works.
