RULES CLARIFICATION: you reshuffle the monster deck whenever the reshuffle icon appears NOT when the deck runs out, meaning it is possible to see the same ability multiple times in a row. Though still not likely! And when you lose a FH scenario, you don't get punished, you just can choose to redo the scenario or do a different one (which is more options than BnB forcing you to do the same scenario again). Thanks for commenters for pointing this out, and written review is on its way -Ashton
yes, i've been waiting for the review! im playing it myself, i think its super fun. im super suprised that they actually made it feel like tiny Gloomhaven
Nice review! I love how B&B strips out the fiddlyness which really put me off regular GH. I was also worried about the warping of the scenario cards, but I sleeved them and it made them totally fine.
Great review! I didn’t finish bnb, glad you were able to finish the campaign. Love the flashbacks to the haven videos. A lot of good editing in those reviews!
i hope they dont abandon button and bugs project and maybe make an expansion or new gloomhaven solo with map and stuff, there is alot of potential with it honestly
Clarification at 10:33, you reshuffle the monster deck whenever the reshuffle icon appears NOT when the deck runs out, meaning it is possible to see the same ability multiple times in a row (although it is much less likely so your point still stands)
I bought the game and I’m having a blast. But I’m a bit disappointed in the component quality... 2 boards already had damage and my cubes had already some broken edges ... nothing big but still a bit on the cheap feel! Gameplay makes up for it big time! Love the short streamlined mechanics ! Great review as always ! Keep it up
Good profile of the game, feel a lot better informed now. Wonder if this basic formula could be expanded into other gameplay themes and styles. I like GH and then I sort of burn out heavily, takes me a while to recharge. Maybe this might be my speed right now
Your complaints about co-op games mirror mine honestly BUT I still do enjoy them with friends from time-to-time, especially considering some of my friends like co-op games exclusively. But yeah, I get more enjoyment out of something like TI4 than I do Gloomhaven. With all of that said, I know this sounds crazy, but have you tried Jaws/Frosthaven/Gloomhaven solo? The fiddliness doesn't change, but I feel like a lot of your gripes are alleviated with solo play. No more having to wait on other people, no more having to deal with "how fast/slow are you going," less time per mission, etc. Curious your thoughts!
Please Ashton, you really need to get your friends together and dive into the Vampire the Eternal Struggle 5th edition box. I think you really would like it! Would be great to hear your opinion om it! Keep up the good work! ❤
At the end of the video u say 16 damage with strengthen ?! I think strengthen only lets you roll attack modifier twice and choose the better ? Not making double damage or am I wrong ?
Maybe you time it so you are strengthened and play the attack 8 loss, when your little cube on the attack modifier card is at the row with the 2x. Then there is a 55.5% chance you get the crit.
Obviously $20 is great value for this, but Jaws was available for just under $25 US shipped from Amazon prime for a while and at one point was $18 at Target. Not sure anything will beat that.
The board game. I have played all the pc games and bg3. The board game plays like a dungeon crawler with streamlined (good) story. Personally I think its just a faster better and equally tactical game as gloomhaven but you can literally start playing right away. My friend did buy the whole kickstarter so there are epic boss battles with huge cool minis. Its seems they have just taken a sober look at gloomhaven and jaws of the lion, kept the best and inproved the rest IMO
1:19 Aaaaand, like that, it lost me. The best part of Jaws of the lion for me was that you could play it multiplayer. Hopefully we'll see a game that is between this, and Jaws both in complexity and physical size.
Not going to go over well with koumpounophobics like myself. Of all the B&B combos they could have used, why the one "B" I cannot stand more than anything?
Being afraid of buttons is the dumbest thing I have heard in awhile. Anyone that is genuinely afraid of such a thing most certainly has underlying problems. I wouldn't be surprised if they are lying to use this "fear" as a personality trait to pretend to be unique. And not liking the texture of an object is not a fear, I don't like the feeling and sound of Styrofoam I makes me cringe but I am not afraid of Styrofoam.

@@Urek968 I can understand why you would think that, it is a really odd thing. The fear is innate in that I had as an infant and would get very upset if I had to wear anything with buttons, maybe my parents conceding to that encouraged it. Like I mentioned in CleaveBuscmi's comment exposure has helped with the fear, but I still disgusted by them, BTW feel the same way towards the squeaking sound of Polystyrene (Styrofoam) or the feel of wooden utensils.
@Shelfside there is Twilight Inscription. For Tiny Epic Gloomhaven there is B&B. Age of Galaxy by the makers of Age of Civilization gives Space Opera the Tiny Epic treatment. And stay tuned for Tiny Epic Game of Thrones.

Would be a perfect game for the subway!

frosthaven: buttons and bugs 2
or smth idk

I really like how you still get the customization that you normally get with your abilities recreated with your item choices per scenario.

Awesome review Ashton... a lot of footage with Childres... wonder what you're cooking up.
haha, this was footage from when we helped him make his BnB hype video! You can see Daniel doing VFX work in their backerkit vid :D -Ashton
Im always impressed how you can review a game with two different views
Looks really nice. A shame it’s totally unavailable at least here in the UK.

Hey everyone, does anyone have a link or something to the fan made rulebook he mentioned? Thanks in advance.
I liked the video before I even started! Lets gooo!!

Another video, another day of waiting for the John Company Review drop
YOU ARE AWESOME! ❤❤❤
how did this slip past me?? just ordered this, looks really fun and cute as a big fan of gloomhaven already (I have the original and jaws)
neat, glad to hear you had at least more fun with this one. the crucial question: Daniel's rating? :P
havn't played atm
-Daniel
@@Shelfside ah, okay.
I have that same printer. It's 15 years old and still going strong
Has Daniel played yet?

Yeah that's incredible value for Jaws, surprised they got the price that low. cheers! -Ashton
I think people should choose to skip forward if they fail three times on very easy. There’s a couple of stumbling blocks.
How cool :D
The JOTL campaign became SUCH a slog towards the end. I will say that I think Gloomhaven, as a whole, is just a better video game than board game.
100% agree. We are playing Divinity now and its just waaaay more fun than GH because you dont spend 75% of your time with manual labor

I genuinely prefer the modifier card over the modifier deck. It's genuinely better, in my opinion.
But the whole point of the deck was to take out luck.
Dice = luck.

Can you please review cyberpunk 2077 gangs of night city
I absolutely hate the cubes for monsters decision.

Hey we squeezed everything you need into a tiny box… you do have a phone, right?
Lazy!
It wasn't laziness because they still have the full rules pdf available. It was just a choice they made that you don't like.
@@alex8480 Does it say on the box that you have to source the full rules yourself?
Dude the blue and green cubes look completely different. You may be color blind. 😂
