The thing about the area where Charlie drove in is it is changing a lot. And it is an area that almost contradicts itself. In some of the neighborhoods just outside of downtown Indy, you can be in a solidly upper-middle class neighborhood full of homes going for 300-500k, and you can walk a block or two in any direction and be in a neighborhood that is practically falling apart. Some of the poorest neighborhoods in the city are just outside of the urban core , which is the most productive part of our city.
You know, it's funny how people always say, that some other city's hoods look worse. If you've ever really been to many cities across the U.S , you realize that you don't judge how hood a place is, just by the way the houses, and neighborhoods look to you. Especially if you are from some other part of the country. There areas of Compton, and Carson California that look like cool places to raise kids. Palm trees, front and back yards kept up fairly well. But don't be fooled by first impression appearances. Every place is different, and yet, the same. Atl is different than D.C. South Central L.A. is different than Harlem. Nashville different than Indianapolis. San Antonio, and Flint different. So on, and So on. Some places look rough, and really ain't bad, and vice versa. Don't let certain type bullshit fool you.
Word up. Some of the most honest people iv ever met was on 9 mile road in Detroit. Not to many places you can loose your phone and actually get it back. It happened to me , and I got my phone back within an hour
indy is an interesting place ... there is so much going on hard to know what is what... is alot of sketchy areas but i never really feel unsafe there ,,, alot of good older homes but alot of rundown too...
when you start the video at a spot around where you grew up and used to hang and like "man i guess i did grow up in the hood". a LOT has changed since the 80s.
Where do the middle class or even upper working class live in Indianapolis? Where do the students rent? This looks lower working class/unemployed. And yeah, East coast cities like Philly are more expensive and more run-down.
Rhodesia Mukiwa Middle and upper working class...lots are southside of Indy south of hwy 465 (the hwy that circles the city) in Mooresville, Greenwood and all those towns down there, some drive in from 45mins to 1hr away too. Lots of the of the Upper business class live Northeast side of 465 in the Fishers and Carmel area.
Middle class is spread around all over the place. A lot of struggling areas were solidly middle class 20-40 years ago and there are some sticking around. There certainly are wealthy areas within Marion County/Indianapolis but the preeminent wealthy community not just of Indianapolis but Indiana as a whole is Carmel, Indiana. Carmel is a suburb just north of Indianapolis, located within Hamilton County. The major university is Indiana University-Purdue University-Indianapolis. The campus is located on the west side of downtown Indianapolis between West Street and the White River. It is a combination of a commuter campus with traditional college-aged students living there as well. Because the traditional college aged students willingly going there are more likely to have $$, they're settling in the apartments along the White River canal, which costs a lot of $$. There are smaller universities and colleges throughout Indy as well. Butler University in the Butler Tarkington area on the north side University of Indianapolis on the south side Marian University (Catholic) on the northwest side
Rhodesia Mukiwa the Midwest in general looks a lot worse than the East Coast, it’s usually more run down and dirty but I guess Indianapolis is an exception or he didn’t go the bad areas because Chicago, Detroit, Gary, Cleveland, Flint and St.Louis look MUCH worse than philly, Baltimore, dc etc.
the area he is driving around at one point was listed by the FBI a few years ago as the 17th most dangerous neighborhood in America. Deceptive looking depending on what street you drive on.
Wish you would let us know what streets you were passing and going down, I used to live in Indianapolis in my younger days, Delaware Street Pennsylvania Central and meridian Street, all of those were my stomping ground.
He was in the old Crown Hill neighborhood. Them boys are usually out on Kenwood Ave, but either there was a bust recently and everyone was nabbed or Charlie's drive was during midday and the action didn't start till later.
I like the verdant surroundings of Indy. Everything is green! But I don't like the fact that there are no hills or mountains. Only buildings and Freeways indicate your location in town. I also noted that during my visit in May of 2019, that I saw not even one homeless person! Where I live in CA, the homeless are ubiquitous!
IMO, Indy and Columbus are the same. To me the only difference is Columbus does not invest in professional sports like Indy (except hockey). Indy can't afford the Colts, or the Pacers, and the city's infrastructure tells the tale. Potholes are everywhere and the sewer system is falling apart.
Scooby Doo You can't just get out and talk to strangers and be from outta town.It don't look like he in the hood but you never know it's places like that in my city the hood and if you look like you don't belong there they might run up on you

Real talk I'm from nap I feel you
The streets are not maintained properly but there are a lot of affordable houses and the city is nice - my home city.
You drove past my old home at 3251 N. Capitol. I graduated from High School in that house. It was fenced back then.

I like such a place.
Anytime I’m on the phone with my friends in Indy I hear them potholes 😂😂
Damn, somebody wasn’t lying when they said Indianapolis and Toledo look similar

Looks like the Hamptons compared to some areas of Detroit or Baltimore.

Very deceiving night time can be very different
They say this place has higher crime than Chicago now. Seems hard to believe.
Nice big "ol houses!

Thanks, Charles.👍👍👍👍

The landlords need to take care of their empty homes property.
