- Welcome to the great Indian Himalayas in its grandest. I spent 6 days tracking, filming and photographing one of the most fascinating animals on Earth - the elusive Snow Leopard. I was extremely fortunate to encounter and capture some of the rarest moments seen in the wild. Here's sharing my incredible adventure with you :)

That was an amazing video! I traveled to Ladakh from the US back in 2015 to search for snow leopards. I never expected to actually see any. We saw 2 one morning for a couple of minutes. They were on the ridge line across the valley, so beautiful but so far away. I had no wildlife photography experience at the time and so only got 1 photo - of their bums as they started heading down the other side of the mountain. Still, it was awesome, and I'll cherish the experience forever. I can't imagine how you must have felt getting so many good looks of the snow leopard and so many photos and video clips. I was in Maine in Aug 2018. Those lobster rolls are DEEEELICIOUS! Tried the whale watching tour but all I got was a ton of mist, haha. Oh and I managed to get back an old 2 dollar bill too!

BTW, how many kilos was that tele lens you lugged around? Do provide some details on the shooting equipment
Thank you, Aneesh! Yes, I took very limited equipment with me. This film was shot using 3 cameras - a Canon 5D IV, a GoPro Hero 6 and a DJI Mavic Air. The still imagery was of course taken on the 5D with a Canon 500mm IS II. I chose a ridiculously short focal length to photograph Snow Leopards with, especially because they're on the opposite mountain from you most often.
Why didn't I use a crop sensor for more reach? Because I find that a fullframe with a solid prime lens is way sharper. If I had the budget, a 400mm f2.8 IS III on a 1Dx III and a 600mm f4 IS III on a 5DSR would be my ultimate gear of choice. Maybe a 1.4x TC III in the bag as well just in case. The weight of the camera, lens and tripod set-up I used would roughly sum up to 8kgs or so.
