Cod catching on the river Humber, yes I’m at it again. Caught a summer Cod and now caught my Autumn Cod on the 12/10/23. Must try harder for a Codling.

Fish in freezer 4 fillets yum yum. If it had gone back then I would never know weight and size so always a silver lining. My biggest 65cm checked when I got home 6lb 6oz. Pleased you enjoyed Stephen thanks for support. All the best stay safe.

Just got to watch it tonight the cod king is back felt your pain when it died. One thing I can think that contributed to its death is you should never pull a fish backwards in the water my grandad always said they drown doing that the flow should go out there the gills not not In through the gills and keep them up rite in the water. Sorry to hear you both have poorly. Really enjoyed the video as usual take care. 👍
Yep we are better now cheers but the van is dead 11 days now and looks to be longer. Cod is now as four fillets in the freezer. 🤗🤗. Good to know just seen many do it. At one point I had gill flap open in water. It swam off twice but to no avail. All the best stay safe.

The old zziplex rods were only sold as blanks from the factory mate, none came with guides/whippings on them. I'd imagine that old one has been rebuilt a couple of times. 👍
Yes think your spot on hence the tape pulling the varnish off but while I can use it I will. Not bothered as long as it catches fish and I enjoy it, which I am. All the best stay safe.

hi vern am glad you mentionary your wheelbarrow going to get back to the fishing and its been over 20 years now but i have COPD so get out of breath so i think a barrow like that will be beter for me to pull shame about the fish
Good barrows but expensive but makes it easier. Hope it helps and you get out fishing soon.

I'm sorry that you and your wife have been ill and hopefully by now you've found out what's going on with your hip .who knows why the cod died when there's no indication of a bite you don't know how long it's just been laying there and with the fish laying on its side it looked like it's swim bladder had gone ...not your fault at all but at least it was line caught and not netted ..another good video ...keep them coming !!
Yep the wife and I are fine now but my van is dead 💀. Not had my van for 10 days now. Yes I think the swim bladder had gone will look it up and see what I can find out. I reeled Cod in as I saw the bite. Just had to turn the lights on and camera first. All the best stay safe.
@@VernsSeaFishing oh no ..my engine froze and cracked on my car last January .I bought the car as a donor car .the lady said the auto box had gone £150.volvo convertable ....drove it home changed the oil and drove it for 4 + years ..scrapped it for £450 ! ..driving a bloody skoda now .I hope your van is repairable ..it looks a good van

Great to see you back enjoying the fishing after a month. Fixed spool casting, you need the breakaway cannon, use them all the time, brilliant can really thump the cast and be confident the line won't slip or take your finger off 😂
Tried it before and struggled but putting line on finger further now and works a lot better. Yes this lurked me up been a weird summer since July. Most have struggled. Pleased you enjoyed all the best stay safe.

My hip is in need of a replacement also arthritis really bad, agony so I take naproxin and codine 60mls and pain has gone but must take together 3 times a day.
Will look into those pain killers but only get them off prescribed. Mine hurts and restricts me now so will get it sorted. But takes time and probably left it to long.

Well done Vern. Sometimes these fish don't survive purely because of the shock factor. Absolutely nothing you can do. Enjoy it once it's cooked and just remember 95% of other anglers would have probably took it for the table anyway.

Was after an old one but prices went through the roof. Saw a m4 hiflex but missed that one. Get one one day.

Please don't beat yourself up about your summer cod in the freezer and this beauty that wouldn't go back, the cod gods are sending you a sign, lay off the junk food pizzas that give you and Karen the splats and eat more Cod. I lure fish for bass and take the odd one or two home for the table but no big ones, the fish in my avatar is an 85cm ,if she had died I would have been upset but would have taken her home same as you vern but shit happens sometimes and the trawlers are throwing tons of by catch dead fish over the side. Spare a thought for the humble lugworm, hooked through its entire body then thrown into the drink to be swallowed whole by mister cod. It's a dog eat dog world Vern. Get on with making more great content,regards, Keith

Thanks Keith your spot on. When I go to the river and use fresh worms believe me it take 2 or 3 sessions to get used to putting worms on. Not that I’m a pansy but with there hills out they have there own allure but I get over it as I will with fish dying. Eventually 🤣🤣. Cheers pleased you watched and thanks for commenting. My van has died and is a 9 day fault finding at garage been very stressful. Once I have my life back will sort out appointments.

The rods are not made for over head thumb, made for casting mate.will show you when we meet up mate,will go through it all.

Because I’m a big softy as I’ve got older. If I did I would get used to it but had plenty of bait. All get returned and enjoy doing it but those that croak it get eaten. 4 fillets from that Cod. All the best Paul stay safe.

This is an old one Trevor Ive forgot what I did. Good one to watch for me when I’m bed bound.
Years ago me and a mate were fishing on Llandudno pier using same rigs, same baits and cocktails........nothing happening so I made a wishbone rig with black lug on each hook......10mins later I had 2 specimen dab so it shows if you're blanking try changing rigs
Yep spot on I also used to move down the beach 50 yards if it was quiet. Struggle now but you have to change things up. All the best stay safe. 🤗

Hate to burst your bubble but winter starts on Nov 1st. Dec 21st or winter solstice is mid winter
Depends what you follow, The Met office and all weather channels including the BBC follow the meteorological seasons or whether you follow the way it always was and that is by the equinoxes and the solstices to define the seasons, astronomical seasons. I follow the later as my granddad did and not the media / European countries that say June 24th is mid summer day. Like they call most fish European. I’ll stick in my bubble thanks.
