About 20 years ago an amazing friend asked if I wanted to go see Ben in LA. We ended up seeing him, having a blast and staying for the weekend. After his show my friend and I slept at her friends house. That night we woke up cuddling. We were inseparable from that moment till cancer took her. My love, my life. Shannan, you still shine like gold.
Oh my GOD! I LOVVVVVVVVVVE this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just left Google music for Spotify at the recommendation of a great friend with great music taste and I found this in my "browsing" through their play lists and then creating an artist playlist. Need a small, cozy and quaint bar and a beer to listen to more like this. Excellent song!
man i went to his show at the orpheum last night it was AWESOME he did this crazy thing where he slide his guitar up and down his arm and stood up and looked fuckin insane and then for the last song he sang acapella without a mike and then all the instruments came in and now i can die happy XD
Notice at about 3:27 he looks over to his left and yell's "where you at?" because his bass player missed the bridge. His bassist is a groovy player, but must have spaced out while Ben was soloing.
I love burn one down to superrueben, but recently I have come to love Ben's edition of the verve's song " The drugs don't work." I also love "she's only happy in the sun" and "my own two hands." Obama should use that song.
I think Ben is amazing ~ an to all the people that are just out to crisis an hate shame on you REALLY! Just enjoy the music it's not a competition dude ;)
@Aurarisma That is true but Cat Stevens has been pretty much shunned from mainstream airplay and therefore i would no longer consider him a "popular artist". Its sad because young people would do well to listen to his music.
Loved my Cat Steven albums back in the day. What a voice, storyteller and when he came back out a few years ago, his voice was still great, just great.
I don’t think that’s quite accurate, ‘Cat Stevens enjoyed years in the mainstream & the charts, he on high rotation with radio stations around the world due to so many timeless brilliant songs he wrote, personally I think he may have been ‘shunned’ more so primarily from the western countries or western world after renouncing his faith, becoming a practising Muslim & changing his name to Yussef Islam ... the reason he did this is an absolutely amazing story as is it a beautiful story .... however call me cynical or incorrect but I don’t think at that time converting to Muslim coupled with the decision to perform, record & release all his future albums n music under the name Yusef Islam dropping the name Cat Stevens completely which was an established brand known worldwide did him any real favours in terms of his career or from a financial or income point of view, (record sales, popularity etc) would have all suffered immensely I believe as sad as that is too say, however Mr Yusef Islam formerly Cat Stevens was such a modest, humble down to earth unpretentious human being money, profit or popularity were the least of his concerns ....
Might be because Cat Stevens embraced radial jihadists and declared that the great novelist Salman Rushdie deserved to be murdered, after the author wrote, "The Satanic Verses" .... I think artists who support freedom of expression had a little problem with that.
Go to wikipedia, Rolling Stone, NY Times: "The musician known as Cat Stevens said in a British television program to be broadcast next week that rather than go to a demonstration to burn an effigy of the author Salman Rushdie, ''I would have hoped that it'd be the real thing.''
@gavilanchocolatero listen to diamonds on the inside-those aren't unsophisticated lyrics. and remember rockNroll and rhythm and blues songs aren't generally sophisticated lyrically...perhaps you should stick to opera songs while on the tube-lol.
Cant find the words !!!!! 🤯🤯
He is amazing - he came down straight from Heaven to sing this song for us humans. I am sure that's what angels sound like.

3:25 "Where you at?" ;-)
Sounds to me, like Juan was right where he needed to be at!
@shellyt17 It's a steel guitar. :)
Seriously, only Ben could pull-off the all-denim flower print outfit...
thumbs up to the man who discovered Jack Johnson......
...and then Ben yells at him "where you at?" I've listened a few times and I don't hear Juan missing a beat.
No, Juan was right where he needed to be at.

Everything used to look like RUST ... Now everything has a Silver Lining w GOLD;)

Burn one down for me, nothing like a song about smokin the maroojoowanna.
Ben Haper has the pick of dystany!

The white guy playing guitar has a body buffer on his hat - dya recon he showers in his clothes? lol! Great song Mr Harper!!
the difference from gold and brass...
being sophisticated is waaay overrated, anyhow simple lyircs are usually the best
