Once I had a nightmare, in this nightmare I remember that I wasn't really part of it, more like a spectator completly outside the story, like I was watching a movie, I remember it to be called "the neighbor's dog" or something like that, it was about a man in a black trenchcoat and hat losing his dog, and then finding it again, except it was so obviously not his dog, I remember him being a 7 feet-ish skinless creature, a blob of meat whit eyes all over, but it didn't kill, or hurt, actually everyone in the dream acted so casual about it, like there was nothing wrong whit the horrific living tumor, rather the creepy part is how wrong the "dog" felt, no noise made, never blinked, just stared ominously and just glided across the floor like a nextbot, to this day I got no idea what that was even about

This story is really scary is the fact that humans will always be blind towards something stealing their best friends or trusted animals flesh and no matter how much your body screams at you to run you stayed being fooled by it being next

The least believable thing about this story isn't the supernatural elements, but the idea that an avid hunter would expect a 410 shotgun to do anything but annoy whatever threat would be in the woods or lose their lunch at the sight of a skinned animal.
To be fair, it wasn’t _a_ skinned animal, it was _hundreds_ of skinned animals.

Ok this is definitely one of the better creepypastas/no sleep stories I've heard.
I can't imagine the pain in my soul I'd feel knowing what happened to my dog if I were in that situation.

I usually dont get bothered by stories, but for this one I always remember the mourning feeling I get knowing that good, loving, and loyal Sandy was probably violently killed by the imitator. It always just seemed to me that Sandy was a good dog with an air of especial personality. Usually dog deaths don't bother me that way in stories.

This reminds me of a story/video/dream from years ago, I don't remember much, but one part I do remember was someTHING, maybe skinwalker, maybe something else if not just a ghost, but it manipulated the corpse of the narrators dog like a novice puppetmaster would lazily jump around its puppet on strings. This image sticks with me even today as something violently disturbing.
You and The Dark Somnium are my favorite people to listen to while falling asleep, i never knew u did r/nosleep stories as well!

Skinwalker
I feel like so many of these little creepypasta stories fall victim to the same narrative conceit of insisting that they be diegetic. They've _got_ to be presented as someone posting something on the internet metatextually. So they _have_ to end with a very nebulous kind of weak "and now I'm typing this all up for some reason" contrivance that too many of the writers simply can't make work organically.

I see there are a lot of other videos to this but no actual short movie or so. I can really imagine this beeing a very well made simple horror story.
It would be effective if the dog really just looks like normal, just with the described weird movements and the permanent no blinking stare.
What makes it kind of impactful is that we never get to know what happened to the real one and what that monster actually is.
Of course I thought of that this monster was wearing the dogs body like a suit, but it could also be kind of a shapeshifting biomass that can change its appearence to what it eats.
But I wouldn't want this to that kind of movie that has this story beeing told to someone in the future. It would feel more real if it kind of is the only thing we hear/see from that character and that nothing else happened. Like something he would never want to tell anyone because it sounds insane and takes it to his grave.
And then make a sqeuel to this because he wrote it down into a notebook so one of his grandchildren finds it or something like that and goes to that cabin...hmm.....yes and then the dog is sitting right in front of the entrance door waiting with that exact same stare when they arrive. Like nothing happened and like no time passed, but what must have been like 40-50 years.
An age no dog ever can even remotely reach.
