This is sad to see and hear of, it's also in Belen, NM. Where my child was told by her classmates that they (Spanish/Mexican) don't like Native American, especially the Navajos. A seventh grade girl who is American by culture of Spanish/Mexican, have said to my child that she'll be friends with my child, when her parents aren't around. It hurts to hear from a child saying it to another, I don't think NM will never change. Even now, my child attends high school here in Albuquerque, NM and the principal speaks and supports the male teacher, that told and said and asked my child, "have you showered?" And even the male teacher asked my child, "have you brushed your hair?". Yes! As a single parent, I tried calling the school for the main principle, instead only the assistant principal only called once, and second call after reporting to police. Police department contacted the high school and finally got the main principle phone call. Since, then my child had switched to another class but the teacher's all think and cover for each other. As for my child, it's like walking on eggshells. The main principle has said that, it's a way of asking if my child was taking care of, like the main principal, assistant principal, teacher's at a high school, have humiliated my child on-line class of this 2020-2021. I have never heard from the police officer. It's sad, that it still exists.
Oh please even up until the ‘90s their were places in ABQ that were off limits to POC. and if you went to that part of town usually ended up with a ticket
I was forced to take a course by a fortune 500 company in the 90's during the Clinton era. The instructor, a black guy from Georgia, went on and on about a law still on the books in Georgia stating that Blacks could not own land. It was on the books but not enforced. I asked why he did not petition to have it removed. His response was that it was more useful on the books. Someone should look and see if its still there 30 years later. Proof that change isn't the agenda is it?
@@corvettestalker1517 I've experienced racism in my life too. I just believe we should forgive so we can be forgiven, and prove those people wrong by living our best life!
@P. Martinez, we weren't at fault. The teacher's and Principal were the one's that degrade my child while attending online class. Why? Forgive them when they'll do it again to another student/child. Teacher's abuse their teachings to my child, and to top it off the Principal encourages the teacher's. And chain of commands doesn't have any use.
This was over 70 years ago. It was unfortunately normal almost everywhere. It was acceptable back then. It doesn't make it right but it was the norm. I don't understand why it's a surprise.
I wonder if the ppl who named these city streets knew that this was being practiced in Abq?. Sad but not surprised. Welp. Being native this makes me proud to know we weren't limited to our own backyards. Sorry to those affected by this.
I'm surprised that Albuquerque was so segregated, it's mostly Hispanic, but in the early part of the 1900s only about 10% of the hotels were available for black people to visit.
Wow, how is this report going to do anything but cause division. Instead of celebrating how far we have come as a state. It will just bring up feelings of sadness and shame in this time of HUGE division. Great job 🙄 very tone def. Ugh.

I don’t see a problem with this. In my little town of New Bern, there is a section referred to as “ ‘N’-word town “ by the local residents. It’s a 3-4 square mile area that use to be lower class white homes (100+ years ago) and is now mostly blacks. The blacks don’t tell the whites/Hispanics not to move there, but when they do, they become targets of violence and theft in volumes that run them off as quickly as they came. There is no neighborhood contract or HOA rules, it’s an unspoken pact among blacks that keep them isolated from other races. It’s the way they want it. It’s been this way for decades (60-70 years)? It’s extremely racist, but nobody ever talks about it. No one cares…I guess.
I live In abq I’m mixed black and white obviously look black and I got a job at a baskin robins when I was younger and the owner a white man told me I’m not exactly what he expected me to look like based off my name. If these properties were written in descriptions like this in ABQ, I would if other property descriptions have hidden secrets in their cities too.
Essentially FHA made that language null and void so law trumps a recorded document.

There's plenty of current unwritten discrimination. Why dig up the past? This is probably true for many cities in the past.
