Incidentally, Camp Pendleton has its own fire fighters because the huge place often has wildfires. I live in sight of the base, and I've seen them fighting fires in view of my back patio. This is about 5 miles from Oceanside. I hope the folks on board are not hurt too bad.
Pendleton has several fire departments on base. Every military base has its own fire department. It has nothing to do with being susceptible to wild fires. They have personnel, assets, buildings and housing to protect. Camp Pendleton also contains MCAS Pendleton so they even have an “airport” fire department. You can see one their fire trucks (the green one) on scene.

I used to travel I-5 all the time through Pendleton and see our Marines on manuevers...Tanks and Amphibious Landing craft and even Harrier Jets.. I've always loved Oceanside. It's a Sikorky CH-53E. I'm looking at the size of the vertical tail at an angle as they are in the behemoth helicopters.
