I visited Ireland in April from the states, I went to a Bohemians match and loved it! They played UCD who didn’t have many supporters. That probably wasn’t the best match for atmosphere but the Boh’s supporters were loud!
Apparently UCD doesn't have much of a fan base.UCD is University College Dublin but as college sports is not reallly a thing in ireland or anywhere else outside america nobody except maybe some of the student body follows them.
I'm a Galway fan but I go to all games all over the place. Ive always found Richmond and Pats fans to be the most Friendly. The stewards are sound and a random fan will just start chatting to ya which is nice as I'm on my own
I just finished my first 2 seasons attending the league of Ireland. I'm a Polish fan, loi is good and this is the way the Irish people supposed to support, not the enemy's english league ! UP THE HOOPS !
Terrific vlog, as a supporter of Glentoran in the north, I try to keep a keen interest in the LOI, but television/media wise, all we see is a little bit of Derry City. Still, terrific synopsis you’ve given. Gabe
I visited Irleand last year and wanted to see a match. As the Pats. where the only Dublin Club playing at home this weekend, i went to Richmond Park. I actually love this ground, it‘s much smaller than my homeground (Fritz-Walter-Stadium in Kaiserslautern/ capacity of 49.500) but it has a really own charme, being built between houses and other bulidings. Since that not very intensive 0-0 draw against Dundalk, I‘m a supporter of the Pats. 😄 I hope the league keeps growing and many grounds will be renovated. Surely they have their charme but on the other hand, most of them look like they fall apart.
Started following the The League Of Ireland cause the odds are good for betting and cause of Football Manager. You've done more for promoting the The League Of Ireland in this video than the FAI has ever done. Hope i get to go for a match when i visit Ireland. Cheers from Portugal, keep up the good work!
You’ve done a brilliant summary, hopefully you inspire many to sample the league of Ireland and forget about travelling to England for their football or watching that rogue sport of rugby.
Great video! I'm living in Cork City coming from Brazil (where football is huge as you probably know) and I went to my first match these days. Unfortunately Cork has just been relegated, but I'll make sure to go more times next year. (I've found this video trying to understand this relegation system, I couldn't get my head around it 😅)
Great video. I went to Shamrock Rovers v Drogheda last summer whilst on holiday. It was the only Saturday game played that weekend so I travelled from Derry but made a day of it. Can't wait to head back this summer :)
Much love from Cape Town South Africa 🇿🇦 I have seen a huge admiration to the Irish league but specifically Kerry FC and I would like to see a video about the club. Regards Ubaid
great wee video mate, always have had one eye on the league of ireland while following edinburrgh city, would love to hop over to a game or two! could also talk about irish teams involvment in the scottish irn bru cup
The Irish league once represented the entirety of Ireland and teams within the independent region of Ireland where successful in the old Irish Cup before the war of independence
Great video with a sense of humour too. I’m originally from Omagh , now living in Yorkshire so my option for the LOI team was easy & I follow them via radio commentary on Radio Foyle. Yes it’s the mighty Candystripes, Derry City. When comparing the footy with the English game what level would you say the Premier Division is equal to ? EFL league 1 or 2 ? I ask as Derry just bought a player from Morecambe & sold McJannett to Grimsby. Thanks
Been going to Kerry FC matches. It’s been great to see all the home games sell-out, despite the results😅😅. I like that there is not only an avenue for players to get senior football, but seeing a lot of player come back to play for the club.
Hey, I'm a Chelsea fan from Kildare, but I would love to support a team in the LoI aswell. Do you have any more info on that team from Kildare you said were thinking about joining the LoI next season?
Not much official really, from what I've heard, Klub Kildare were the team looking to join although not much info beyond that. Currently playing in the KDL
@@everythingleagueofireland if u intended to speak about teams in the league of lreland u should have given every team a shout not be beis to Dublin teams because of population so nothing changes
I think duffer gonna surprise a fair few this season bro ,to get to a fai cup in his debut season of management we massively overachieved. The investment from Southampton was due to happen but don't know what story is with it ATM. With Morris I felt there wasn't a identity or sense of passion but duffer definitely put tolka back on the map. Also watch out for upcoming game 😉
Had my eye on the league for a little while and I may start taking a bit more of an interest. It just seems like it hasn't sold it's soul like a lot of leagues have and the teams come across like they care about their supporters. Unlike a lot of other top European leagues who treat their supporters like piggy banks and with contempt. Not too sure what team I am warming up to the most right now. Just siting back watching some game highlights and just doing a bit of research on each team.
I went to Ireland on March 2020, I really wanted to attend a Game while being there, was targeting a Bohemians match... But COVID happened, and I had to turn My ass back to Mexico. :(
Greek here, fond of football (NOT SOCCER FFS!!!) punder, and I can claim that I have most knowledge of Irish football among non journalists in Greece. So, here is the idea, inspired from the biggest small league in the world, the MSL (that should be named MFL FFS!!!) . So, Americans wanted to start a League Cup, but if it is for profit, they have bright ideas, so the made a LeagueS Cup instead, a cup format with Mexicans. The issue is that in their continent they have 2 descent leagues, but here in old europe we have 54 (minus Russia 53, Liechnestein doesn't have) leagues. So what about some League Cups? You have 10 teams on top tier, we have 14, total 24 , so we need 40 or 8 more to form a cup trophy of 64 or 32 teams. More countries can join, some stronger than Irish (could be Scotland, or Slovenia) and some weaker (could be Andora) . Our teams visit Ireland during summer when our football is suspended , yours come in Greece after league finishes, and then a final 4 is played. Winner gets money from TV and sponsor (that can name that league, like Carabao Cup ) and Champions League participation, runner up less money and Europa League participation, and 3rd even less money and Conference Participation. If Europe has been won by league or cup, league wins the ticket (if a greek team wins both league and LeagueS Cup , then also second on Greek League wins Champions League, you ve got the idea). UEFA would be more than eager to agree, as many leagues (such as Belgium's and Holland's ) think of mergings , and many big companies would love to sponsor ( my money on Ryan Air League, but it could be AKTOR League too )
Rugby wouldn't be huge competitive for irish football, alot who play rugby couldn't play football anyway and its a smaller sport in participation and fan numbers. The gaa would be the biggest competition but most players play the two. League of Ireland was badly managed by the fai over years and has an image problem, alot of premiership fans wouldn't go to any game instead following their teams in anothrr cluntry!! Loi clubs need European success and is a very good league, good atmosphere and great value. Been a cork city with over 30 years.
True but FAI need to realise that in Limerick and South Dublin from the southern tips of DCC to the southern part of DLR rugby union is a serious contender. Additionally though given that Rugby union is still a winter sport in Ireland and that soccer became a summer sport means more competing with the GAA.
You've done more promotion for the LOI in 7 minutes than the FAI has done in the past 20 years🤣🤣
Should have me on their payroll by now

UCD don’t really have a fanbase. They’re players are largely students and they don’t tend to do well in the league but supply players to the league
