Okay, I had started wondering about this after binging your channel lately. I love your videos and they have been super helpful. I was wondering, do you have ADHD??? I only ask because I am ADHD, and I wasn't diagnosed until my adulthood. So this video speaks to my soul lol.
@@AnneofAllTrades Oh yes! I have been in therapy for the last 2 years just focusing on adhd. It is amazing how we all just jump into the deep end with everything all at once lol.
As a teacher, it makes me so sad that you spent a portion of your life feeling dumb. You are my go-to for garden info because you’re so good at teaching! There are a lot of gardening videos out there but most people don’t have the patience, wit, & relatability that you have. You give clear, but detailed info in a way that makes sense. So PLEASE never feel like you aren’t enough because you’re someone that many of us look up to!!
Oh my gosh! Thank you so much for talking about body doubling!!!! I am a widow and doing projects alone, like tiling the bathroom floor, is so daunting to do alone. It just screams "You are all alone". However, having a girlfriend here with her coffee in the morning and just passing me some tile has helped me tremendously to keep motivated. Thank you so much for naming this!!!! This means the world to me!!! I thought it was just me (tears)
I’m blown away hearing you say that you felt dumb and you were afraid to teach. I’ve learned so much from you and I love the way you teach! Thank you for the wonderful videos.
Maybe consider marketing specifically to the ADHD crowd. I bet a lot of your loyal followers already are. Time blindness, object permanence, organization that works specifically for us... you're covering all of this, and more. Plus, your relatable struggles and failures. In any case, I'm so glad I found you through my permaculture gardening interest.
I completely agree with this. I struggle with all of those things every day. They have certainly tested the limits of love in my marriage too. As I wasn't diagnosed as ADHD till later in my adulthood. I was treated for another 8 years after diagnosis, after I was medicated for a while for ADHD, we realized I am also on the spectrum for autism. My husband is also a late in life diagnosed autistic. So my adhd side does all the thing that stress my hubby out. So any help I can get with these things just makes my life so much better. I have made a ton of progress in the 3 years, but still have a lot of work to do. Anne's videos have been amazingly helpful to me, but this one spoke to my soul lol.
The best tip for me is the one about the “minimum viable product.” It can be so easy to get wrapped up in wanting to do something perfectly that it never gets done at all. I constantly need to remind myself that “done but not perfect” is better than not done at all.
These are great tips…specifically for people with ADHD. It has nothing to do with being lazy, and everything to do with being neurodivergent. It’s surreal watching this, is as if I’m watching myself explain all the things I do/have done to try to manage myself in a world that isn’t set up for me, except through the lens of a full fledged farmer. Your first tip about dairy animals getting you up in the morning, I literally got chickens for the same reason, and did not install automated doors, so I had to get up, dressed, and go let them out. Thanks for normalizing the need to for good mental health.
I worked a 40-60 hour/week job, commuting 3 hours/day while developing my 10 acre farm, caring for two horses, 3 dogs, and 5 cats and overseeing my mother's care for her last ten years while dementia engulfed her. I learned to do only what needed to be done, when it needed to be done in the best way to do it. I learned to function on minimal sleep, cook bulk recipes when I had time to cook and I asked for help when I needed it. I'm glad to have that phase of life behind me.
That is wonderful. You are inspiring. I have been trying to prepare a part of my yard about 1250sf for a vegetable garden by fixing up the soil with organic matter and setting up a fence. I care for my home, husband and 4 kids while also working full time. Sometimes I get discouraged but I will persevere. With God's help, I will have my vegetable soon. I have been growing my plants in pots since February and some are starting to flower so I want to transplant maybe this weekend.
@@sailorPinata I was, when I retired, a year before my mother passed, I slept about 12 to 18 hours a day for about six months. Thankfully I'm now able to make my health my priority.
I'm so glad I found your channel. You are inspiring and I wanna get my garden (and life) sorted and organized to suit me and my easily overwhelmed brain. Thank you, Anne! Warm summer greatings from Sweden
Put Several (3 or 4) carp in the pond to keep the algae out. They are bottom feeders who keep your pond clean, thus eliminating the need for an eletrical aeroator!!! Your welcome!!! BTW, love your videos. I have the very same issues but they did not have a name in the 1960's, oh yes they did, lazy, no ambition.
I was surprised by what you said about costumes helping us work. It's very true! This is one of those things we always sort of knew that has recently been proven. It helps your mindset and it helps you access associated memories better! You can also use flavors or smells. Leave your chicken books by the chickens for a while, get the smell in the pages, and when you go to your chickens the smell will bring the information you've read closer to the surface. I learned about that from my psyc 101 teacher, but this stuff comes up a lot in what I'd call 2nd tier magic stuff
Heavens, Anne, people who had trouble learning something but understand why it’s important and understands people make the best teachers on the planet. Don’t underestimate your ability to teach. Also, if you wanna come help me sort out my lazy garden, I won’t say no.
I wanted a storage box like hers (looks like a photo storage box) but I'm super cheap and it was too much for me. I went to the thrift store and bought old index card boxes, bill/receipt organizers. I have one for flowers, one for cold season planting and one for summer veggies, each organized alphabetically. It doesn't look as nice though 🤣 Just some other ideas for you to think about!
My grandmother always said if you kept the floors swept, the beds made and the sink empty, nobody will notice the rest. 🫶 She's really not wrong. Im definitely saving this video tho. Im still working on my routine. And staying focused.
You are so full of energy 👍. I’m a list maker. And every time I can scratch something off it’s like a pat on the back 🤪 Makes me feel like I’ve accomplished things & if I get Todays List done I start another one. Short term & long term. Started that at 18 & still doing it at 76. I just had back surgery one week ago & am chomping at the bit to be able to start making my list….. other than inside my head lol. I’m so grateful I found you 😉👵🏻👩🌾❣️
Valuable content while tending to your animals and garden was delightful, it kept my focus, and that is no easy feat! If you haven’t already, consider adding miracle worker to your list of trades! Having numerous skills coupled with poor time mgmt has been a life long struggle, and not mastering any of them due to poor time mgmt takes a mental toll, so thank you for sharing!
Very valuable advice. I like the one about getting stuff done with minimum fast product rather then perfection. I apply it for little conveniences around house and garden and it makes huge difference. Yes some things will need to be improved upon but i can do that over time
I bought noise-cancelling earbuds this past year and was surprised at how well they help keep me on task. I didn't realize how much every little sound distracts me.
Inspiring! I'm a perfectionist and if I can't do it perfectly I tend to leave it, which leaves a messy house. Tons of your tips are things I learned the hard way! Especially trying to beat my time at a task (make it a game) & the brain dump. Sometimes I just tell myself to be mature and do the task. Then something fun. I've been learning that my garden doesn't have to look perfect. I'm doing a food forest and also harvesting all the weeds, which means we let the weeds grow. 😱. Hubby is coming around on that.
I have never been so productive as when I am avoiding something I don't want to do. All manner of things get cleaned up, and odd jobs knocked off the list. I have started to have an "avoiding things" list where I put minor todos to pick up in just this situation. I do a few of those, laugh at myself for being so childish, and then go back to avoiding everything and getting nothing done.
I am not sure how I haven't found your channel sooner. I never comment on videos but I just had to say that you have helped me. I've been struggling with motivation, purpose and other blah blah blahs, I appreciate your straightforward approach minus the frills that are in so many videos. The pig pen is a great example. Thank you.
Gosh I’m so glad I watched this- really needed that encouragement today. Living on a farm I’m mainly in charge of and attempting to grow in bad soil (just watched that vid- we’ve not lived here long enough for a big transformation yet) and having to go out to find a FT job wondering how to do it all… this morning I was feeling completely overwhelmed and physically ill. Watching you gives me hope that maybe I can too.
My favorite thing about having goat chores once a week (I help on a local farm) was that even when I was fighting a very dark period of life, I had to get up and going on Saturday morning. It also got me out with goats 😊 and on a beautiful farm. 😊 All good for pulling me through and keeping me moving.
White board shows a very busy brain!!! Thank you for being honest about your life, good and bad, and everything in between. You are a great help and inspiration to all who struggle with life on a daily basis of a busy person. God bless y'all and keep growing from M'boro, TN
Anne, your timing is sooo perfect. I used to facilitate workshops on productivity & profit improvement, consulting & such, so these are all truely old truths I "know" ... but this stage in my life is different from those days. Our fallible humanity makes it so unbelievably easy to get way off track when our routines , environment, careers or households change. When we are misdirecting ourselves, even just one degree & a step off course every day and pretty soon we end up going the wrong direction on a one-way street, in a town two counties over! Anyway, your reminders, unique examples & kind heart was exactly what I needed to hear today. God bless you & all those you love! ❤ Wishing you success in your book & all your courses too.
I know it is not sunshine and roses every minute of every day but I love the strategies and accomplishments that you manifest in life. This is THEE one channel that stays true to the theme put in place and I very much appreciate that it does. Many lessons learned. Your struggles turned into your strengths and became a valuable teaching tool. Thank you for all you the knowledge and friendship.
Love all your videos, but this is my favorite so far... Being ADHD, you have to find hacks to get and stay productive. thank you, Anne, for your channel and the book recs!
Loved this video, far from a Lazy Girl you are! ......(as I have said before) Just Amazing! Dairy farmer, Gardener, Furniture maker, Writer, Goat momma, Donkey Momma, Lama Momma, Musician, You Tuber, Wifey... I suspect there is more, oh yeah Dogs, Cats, and Homesteader...Cant wait for the BOOK! And Anne, Thank You for your honesty about Mental Health challenges and asking for help.❤ You inspire me to no end...daisy
Instrumental music got me through college. It perfectly occupies the distractible part of my brain. Lots of great advice, but I think more people could do that
For me it doesn't matter if there are lyrics or not. If I'm not familiar with the song the lyrics won't distract more than anything else. Oddly, I'm a songwriter and multi instrumentalist; I am hearing the whole song not focusing on lyrics
Just watched your video about buying 50lbs of Corn Starch. You can use it for body powder especially your feet it's silky smooth. Put it on knots line shoe stings rub it together wait a few minutes then take the knot out with ease. Week that's two hope that helps. I'm sure there are many more.
The brain dump is a huge help for me. I make drawings, lists, or whatever I need. I am not as good at doing the calendar part although I admit when I do, Iam far more effective. Love your tips. I have learned so much from you this year. Thanks
Speaking of task bags, I read an article years ago in Popular Mechanics magazine about setting up two-wheel dollies to do the same thing. They put racks on it on which they place the set of tools and roll it to the site.
I love the moveable whiteboards. I use postits & rearrange them. I use plastic report covers in a 3 ring binder. A stack of whiteboards is even better.
Definitely glad to hear about a productivity book by someone who is not a white cishet tech bro. Would be glad to read a productivity book by someone who has more similar experience to me.
“A visible pile of tangible results for my effort” :D Truly, you are marvelous! I remember reading something as a kid (in the 70's) about the ritual of sweeping, as well as something about sprinkling some herbs -- oregano or something? -- on the floor prior to sweeping. Sounds really hedge-witchy, right? But I have kept an old jar of oregano around for just that reason as an adult. Every so often, I sprinkle some around before I sweep... It's kind of like raking vs. leaf-blowing: the action of raking is meditative, somehow. I think I'll go sweep my floor :)
I love that you talk about having learning disabilities! I can relate, and a lot of them are why I love gardening and other hands on work. Plants and animals don't judge you, and so much knowledge is accessible these days so I can learn with an audiobook while I'm working rather than having to sit still and struggle trying to read!
LOVE THE POST-IT board! With my extreme Adult A.D.H.D. I’ve found so much more productivity with post-its and white boards! ❤❤ I’ve also gotten in the habit of putting things in the way on the way. Pitch fork in compost and all! Love it!😍 Do not disturb is my favorite as well!! As a handyman I have task specific buckets. I look at my list of jobs for a day and load only the related buckets in the morning. I keep general tools in my vehicle at all times. Great video!!!❤
I think I need to try the post-its and white boards method. I just find when I see too many things on the list it overwhelms me and makes me shut down. So I do love the idea of having it so you can cover it if you need too as well. As long as you remember it is back there lol. Also an adult diagnosed AuDHD person. Who has struggled to find the way that works best. I do love the idea of a tool bag for each kind of job and I have been trying to do that. Only issue I have is we only have 1 of certain tools. I would buy extras, but we are on a very fixed budget for now. I am considering getting Chickens for the same reason she got cows. I just don't think I am quite ready for that one yet. Plus I am about to work on building some permaculture beds like she made. I am also going to be preparing for neck surgery again before long. So I will have to put my impulsivity to get chickens on hold for now lol.
@@melsgalleria for this tools that get used on multiple tasks I call them general tools. They stay in one place where I will always have them. I don’t have many duplicates. That gets expensive. Best wishes and blessings to find your path on all that!
@@melsgalleria my hack for the multiple tools is to keep an eye out for estate and garage sales. I generally don’t pay more than a dollar or two for most of the tools I leave laying around.
@@AnneofAllTrades That is a good idea especially when I have had a habit of not "putting things away" and left them out in the rain and destroyed them. Oops. So yeah cheap or free tools is a much better option lol. I will definitely look into that more often. Right now I don't have a huge amount of space for storage, but I do try to find affordable tools whenever I can.
I’m happy for you as well as proud that you have a therapist app for your sponsor! (I comment while watching as f you couldn’t tell 😂) Mental health issues should be addressed without a stigma! Thank you for sharing!!!
I love your channel. You have spoken to my soul loll I am constantly adding too much on my plate then I get angry because I'm in so much pain (I have rheumatoid arthritis & fibromyalgia) afterwards. I just need to start doing things in increments and only do what I can. Thank you so much!
You are not alone. I have chronic migraines and fibro and it's so hard to just Get Started... I often tell myself, do this for 6 minutes... And then I can quit. I do sometimes quit but I often don't... Once I get started the momentum I have makes it 99% easier to keep doing. Hang in there!
I was searching youtube for How to farm as a single woman because I have only an acre of land with chickens who's eggs I sell, a garden, cats. dogs, a part time job, selling trees that pop up on my property, baking bread aand elderberry syrup nd hopefully selling ithem, doing art work on the side and navigating widow-hood and becoming an empty nester after 42 years of parents and homeschooling. I'm overwhelmed but I love being out there in the yard and garden and doing all the creating and building. However, the overhwelm sometimes paralyzes me and I find myslef not getting anything done that needs getting done. Fear has definitely been a close companion but I'm overcoming it so I love what you said about fear not being the best motivator but purpose. I love that! It is soooo true! thank you! Now if you could just direct me to examples of women who've started farming in their 50's by themselves.
I love it… same here full time very little time left… but I try my best to garden and keep up with everything… really enjoy gardening. Watching your videos keep me motivated. Thank you 🙏🏻 ❤
I align with everything you are saying. Being organized is how I get things done as well. I am looking forward to the book. Are you going to have online woodworking complete courses that cover basics and progresses to harder projects? I am interested or I will need to move near you when the school opens 😊 Side note: Bluetooth headphones are not good for your brain ❤️ I am happy to see you working with your hand ❤️ Thanks for the video. Keep them coming 😊
@anneofalltrades I develop GTD software while farming. I see your aversion to computers and love of big vertical spaces. There is a new GTD app which prints out your daily. You mark it up with a pen and then take a picture at the end of the day. Computer vision recognizes done tasks, new tasks etc, integrates into app database. Not as visual as your current system, but much more easy to make changes, big or small, keep things neat with less effort than erasing whiteboards and chasing post-its that fell off. Also, I've done more and more GTD with voice. Get a new idea while hauling wood chips? Speak the idea/task out loud. Or have your Next item read out aloud for you. Maybe with phone, but these days can be done solely with a watch.
Wish I knew what all this GTD software and stuff is. I'm old and not tech savy, but sure do like the idea of "Speak the idea/task out loud..." As it is I carry bits and pieces of paper around in whatever pockets I may have, with a pen or pencil to add items to lists (I usually have multiple lists going for different purposes, including a "Honey Do" list as I think of items for him...lol) as I think of them or cross out what is done...that is if I don't lose the pen somewhere along the way...! I used to take a standard sheet of paper and fold it into multiple sections so I could keep say a grocery list in the lower left, a list of non-grocery items in the lower right, necessary errands in another section, calls to make, appointments, ideas for writing, each in different sections, etc., etc., etc. Now I'm back to just whatever piece of paper I have at hand! Unfortunately I have also found that now when I think of something to write down, by the time I grab the pen or pencil and get ready to write, I've already forgotten what I was going to add to whichever list! HA!!! It's Hell getting old! Anyway, tell us more about this "Speak the idea/task out loud..." business! I NEED IT.
Fairely new subscriber, been watching the past year or so. Can I just say how wonderful it is to watch those fingers fly on your right hand! God is good! Keep on keeping on!
So many good tips here Anne! There are many more I could add but I'll just focus on the most important ones for you personally. I've been watching every video (fully) that you've made over the past few years and from what I see I must say that you've become a more wholesome person, by doing all this that you mentioned. I'll point out three things that I think everyone else could also benefit from: a) You understand the value of a healthy work-life balance b) You're so brave by being vulnerable and open to show your mistakes and "failures" c) You actually enjoy the process of "doing chores" So, just keep going, you're doing GREAT and take it easy dear ♥
Thanks for the playlist! Now if I can just get myself to sit down 😂 Body doubling definitely works but it’s hard to find anyone when I’m out doing farm work. The amount of time and energy I waste walking back and forth must be extraordinary! The times my bf mows lawn for me, I get so much more done just having a partner outside. I’d love a more in depth video of your productivity boards! Maybe a plan along with me type video? Would be fun!
The other day I was exhausted in bed at 2pm on Sunday. The previous day I had done 4hrs of yard work in the sun. I told my best friend in another state that I really needed to work on my garden but that I would do 15min outside then come inside for 15 minutes and would go back and forth. I asked her if I could send her pictures of before and after pictures of my yard after each interval. It worked! I did about 3 intervals. One of my boys kind of helped me a little bit and then my husband came to help and we cut down a tree that we didn't need. I was tired but happy that we had advanced.
Great combination of theory and intuition/practice! Looking forward to the book! The 'costume' thing is called enclothed cognition, by the way. It can be a powerful tool in dealing with a number of psychosocial challenges ( breaking with bad habits, dealing with fears and insecurities, etc)
Great farm! High hopes for your pond! I have a suggestion for a food crop you can use along the edge of your pond. Taro root (kalo, gabi, elephant ears). Its a great rain collector and you can eat them like potatoes!
@@ronbada2707 taro is also great animal feed. Extremely calorie dense. But you don’t want roots growing too close to a pond because it will break up the edges of the compacted soil that makes it hold water ;)
Hey Anne! So good to see you. I was worried after you didn't post with the big storms out that way. This evening the sky is a spooky green and we are under a tornado watch... Thanks goodness for pleasant distractions and kind people. Thanks!
Great video! I have one request, and one tip: 1. I'd LOVE to see a video on how you "used pigs to build your pond." Maybe an overview of the whole process? 2. It sounds crazy, but consider switching to cheap yellow dishwashing gloves when you work your bees. They can sting through those big clumsy suede ones just as well, but the rubber gloves give you fantastic dexterity, so you don't drop frames or tools. It cuts the time greatly and enables precision. They do get hot in the summer but with the time saved, it's worth it. For me, it was a game changer. :)
Hey Anne, I’m not squeezing any dairy teeters but here late night watching. Have to get the rest of the the garden in tomorrow. Permaculture I’m pumped for! Mental health matters for sure. Looking forward to the brain dump and plans. We mostly work off-grid and it’s a blessing.
Thank you, your videos are helpful in so many ways. I've been feeling discouraged the past couple days after some small theft on my property and its been hard to find the motivation to keep going. But I know the life I want so eventually I'll get back on track and for now it's ok to take a break and process how I'm feeling ❤
I have learned that things are not hard - they are just unfamiliar. I'm so glad I've found your chanel. I'm trying to solidify what my next season in life is going to look like. It's either make the land work for me and earn money (which has always been my belief that if you have land and creativity, you can make money - somehow) or I have to sell it and go back to living in a cookie cutter house in a neighborhood and go back to a desk job - not really what I feel drawn to. What I feel drawn to is being outside, takig care of the garden and animals and land and house and building things.
@Anneofalltrades LOVE this video. So many good tips. And when you showed the "in the way on the way" tip it reminded me of a question! I have been a lazy composter for a couple years without much success lol. I love your compost videos, the house with walls and roof and "people" makes so much sense! I just bought a compost thermometer and am excited to start again. I have a two pile setup very similar to yours with pallet squares and I made the "house" with fresh greens inside and used the existing 'not very composted' compost as the walls and roof and floor. MY QUESTION IS how do you add in the barn droppings/coop cleaning daily to your compost pile without allowing it to cool off and slow down? I made a lovely log cabin stack in my compost bin to get things cooking, but now I have one to two 5 gallon buckets each day or so of cleaning. Do I add it on top, mix the whole pile again (😳) or add that to a new pile and use as the beginning of a new "house" compost pile. Help!
That is a great question which I wished I’d addressed in that video, in retrospect: I have multiple piles going most of the time, and often a “soon this will be added to the mega pile” pile that kind of hangs out in the margins. With house compost, I have a five gallon bucket with sawdust that I add all the house compost to for a few weeks (always covering with sawdust to keep smells and bugs out) until I’ve got enough for a new pile.
I love to see you working with wood again. I worry about your hand so this is a great relief. It has been an inspiration to watch how you have adapted and never seemed any less without the woodworking, but wow you got back there too. I can see things i can adapt to my own challenges in your vids thank you.
You have got to be the coolest chick I've ever seen on UA-cam. Inspiring as heck and I love your spirit. How awesome to have stumbled on your station. ❤
Great information so far. When she got to productive procrastination, I thought of the days when I sold beads on ebay. I would get in the mood to shop. Instead of heading to the stores or online shopping for myself, I would head to the bead outlets and buy more product. They were pretty and shiny and fit the mood
Thank you, Anne. You’ll never know how immensely helpful this video was for me. Just sent in my info for the cohort. I’ll be 55 in 19 days and still don’t have neurodiverse living figured out. I am grateful for your willingness to share your experiences. Very much looking forward to more vids, the book, hopefully the cohort ❤ Donna Jean (Boston area urban gardener, Lakes Region. You are such an inspiration and a JOY to follow! You’ve given me and my husband the confidence to plant our own veggie garden, without overthinking it. My husband and I are excited for what we’re calling our “experiment” and are already looking forward to seeing what works and what we can improve on for next year! You have fantastic content ❤ All the best, Anne!
I LOVE this video! I have heard these points from countless other content creators in a myriad of other videos, but this video is so concise and practical and all in one. Thank you so much! It all makes so much sense and feels like I can put it into practice right away.
I happened across this today and it was perfect timing. I’ve become a procrastinator deluxe and have so many projects going that I don’t want to do any of them. Thank you. I’ll probably listen several times!
Why do you make some of the most engaging ad breaks in my subscription list? They feel relevant and genuine, and they blend in (almost) seamlessly. Honestly, I have mixed feelings about that (Capitalism and stuff), but it's still a testament to your skill and artistry.
Hey Anne, wondering where you've been for awhile. Liked this one as it reminds me of all I've done to improve chaos. Too bad you don't get more likes and rewards for watching these. This is one Ill return to.
Well i think i know why i find your channel so awesome. I don't want to assume anything but im autistic, adhd, dyslexic and dyscalic. I have a really hard time with learning and getting stuff done. Your strategies are the kinds of things that are in my strategy repertoire. Point of performance, external pressure for self motivation, "lazy" low maintenance, self sustaining systems.
I’m a 20+ year game developer, both AAA and a solo Indie on my own projects. And this is all some of the best advice you’ll ever come across. Practical with every word.
We just bought a house with acrage and theres so much to do and watching your videos helped my nerves. My biggest problem is i try getting everything done at once and get so frustrated when nothing gets done.
I hear you big time there. It’s the temptation for people like us to bite off way more than we can chew and then spiral in shame, self doubt and frustration when we “fail.” Having hit my head on that concrete wall so many times though, I’ve finally begun to learn the lesson that multi tasking really is a myth. Trying to push ten boulders up a hill at once, while definitely more interesting and engaging at times, is so much more difficult and ultimately less productive than one or two at a time. As farmers it’s unrealistic to actually think we could really ever only do one or two things at once, I’ve learned to time block, fully focus on one thing at a time and to prioritize what’s most important in the short and long term a whole lot better. From time to time I still take a huge bite and come to regret it, but that’s happening less and less the more that I realize that admitting our limitations may be a little discouraging in the moment, but being forced to face the consequences of realizing our limitations due to failure is a whole lot *more* discouraging.
I live on a farm and we have raised just about everything through the years. Having said that, you are amazing! I am so impressed. Great job… Great videos. keep it up!
Love and greetings from Germany. You are really inspirational and miraculous. Keep up the great work. Thanks to you I am already having task buckets in every greenhouse.

I was actually wondering if she was ADHD and then saw this comment.
@@melsgalleria I’m AuDhd too ❤️❤️
The best tip for me is the one about the “minimum viable product.” It can be so easy to get wrapped up in wanting to do something perfectly that it never gets done at all.
Thanks for normalizing the need to for good mental health.
same, 😂. im not offended for them to call it lazy gardening, even though its actually just really efficient! lol
Same, this video speaks to my soul lol.
Wow❤❤❤❤❤
🤯 You must have been exhausted
That is wonderful. You are inspiring. I have been trying to prepare a part of my yard about 1250sf for a vegetable garden by fixing up the soil with organic matter and setting up a fence. I care for my home, husband and 4 kids while also working full time. Sometimes I get discouraged but I will persevere. With God's help, I will have my vegetable soon. I have been growing my plants in pots since February and some are starting to flower so I want to transplant maybe this weekend.
That’s a recipe for disease!
@@sailorPinata I was, when I retired, a year before my mother passed, I slept about 12 to 18 hours a day for about six months. Thankfully I'm now able to make my health my priority.
A lot of these are coping tools I use for adhd lol, it’s taken years to develop some of them for me but it’s really starting to shine in my life
I'm so glad I found your channel.
Thank you for putting mental health in every video 😭
I was surprised by what you said about costumes helping us work. It's very true! This is one of those things we always sort of knew that has recently been proven. It helps your mindset and it helps you access associated memories better! You can also use flavors or smells. Leave your chicken books by the chickens for a while, get the smell in the pages, and when you go to your chickens the smell will bring the information you've read closer to the surface.
I learned about that from my psyc 101 teacher, but this stuff comes up a lot in what I'd call 2nd tier magic stuff
They say dress for the job. If you work from home, even just doing cold calling, dress in biz attire. It really changes your attitude.
Heavens, Anne, people who had trouble learning something but understand why it’s important and understands people make the best teachers on the planet. Don’t underestimate your ability to teach. Also, if you wanna come help me sort out my lazy garden, I won’t say no.
I would LOVE to hear more about your seed storage!!
Your tip about in the way on the way - is a beautiful example of design as applied in Permaculture.
My grandmother always said if you kept the floors swept, the beds made and the sink empty, nobody will notice the rest. 🫶
She's really not wrong.
I’m so grateful I found you 😉👵🏻👩🌾❣️
Just what i needed for my brain type. Thanks. I always need outside help getting up for the day.. interesting ideas.
Yes some things will need to be improved upon but i can do that over time
So agree. I always say… Mother Nature is not perfect so I will follow her for beauty 😍👵🏻👩🌾❣️
@@alskjflaksjdflakjdf haha preach!
I am not sure how I haven't found your channel sooner. I never comment on videos but I just had to say that you have helped me. I've been struggling with motivation, purpose and other blah blah blahs, I appreciate your straightforward approach minus the frills that are in so many videos. The pig pen is a great example. Thank you.
I was today years old when I found this channel and this video. Please keep teaching…thank you for your vulnerability and being real.
Anne you are completely killing it! Love your videos. From one former city girl to another- I am so inspired by you.🙌
White board shows a very busy brain!!! Thank you for being honest about your life, good and bad, and everything in between. You are a great help and inspiration to all who struggle with life on a daily basis of a busy person. God bless y'all and keep growing from M'boro, TN
Hiya Anne…. Can you do a video on how you sort out your seeds for planting…. Like break it down, I’m such a visual person…. I need to see 😊
Yes please!
Ooo someday I’d love to chat about your experience if you’re willing, shoot me an email marketing@anneofalltrades.com
Thanks!
Love all your videos, but this is my favorite so far... Being ADHD, you have to find hacks to get and stay productive. thank you, Anne, for your channel and the book recs!
My apron and getting dressed and making my bed have definitely helped me get into a productive mindset
I’ve been feeling like I’m banging my head against a wall So much to do so little motivation Appreciated this video I’m going to try some of the tips❤
I have been feeling a bit overwhelmed lately and your video reminded me of some things I used to do to avoid feeling this way
You got this!
I binge watch/listen to your videos whilst mobile grooming in my van 🚐 ❤

“A visible pile of tangible results for my effort” :D
Truly, you are marvelous!
I’ve also gotten in the habit of putting things in the way on the way. Pitch fork in compost and all! Love it!😍
Do not disturb is my favorite as well!!
Your donkeys are adorable!
Thank you 🙏🏻 ❤
You are such a huge inspiration to me and just a remarkable person. Thank you for being so genuine and transparent. ❤❤
I align with everything you are saying. Being organized is how I get things done as well. I am looking forward to the book.
Are you going to have online woodworking complete courses that cover basics and progresses to harder projects? I am interested or I will need to move near you when the school opens 😊
Side note: Bluetooth headphones are not good for your brain ❤️
I am happy to see you working with your hand ❤️
Thanks for the video. Keep them coming 😊
Also, Jeffrey was so funny 😂
I'll point out three things that I think everyone else could also benefit from:
a) You understand the value of a healthy work-life balance
b) You're so brave by being vulnerable and open to show your mistakes and "failures"
c) You actually enjoy the process of "doing chores"
So, just keep going, you're doing GREAT and take it easy dear ♥
I’m so, so thankful you’re here, but more so, that you’ve stuck around. It means the world to me.
@@AnneofAllTrades I'm learning so much from you, plus it's a joy to watch, so I'm not going anywhere (but it's okay if you need to) 🙏🏻
Thanks for the playlist! Now if I can just get myself to sit down 😂
Body doubling definitely works but it’s hard to find anyone when I’m out doing farm work.
It makes me so happy to see you with an instrument in your hands again! After the avocado incident I was worried!
You are an Angel !❤
Our bovine hoof trimmers used a grinder like that on hooves.
I’m going to remember the term “minimal viable product!” Perfectionism gets in my way on a daily basis
Great combination of theory and intuition/practice! Looking forward to the book! The 'costume' thing is called enclothed cognition, by the way. It can be a powerful tool in dealing with a number of psychosocial challenges ( breaking with bad habits, dealing with fears and insecurities, etc)
Ha! That’s cool, we call it “masking” in CBT
Thanks!
Anne, you rock!! Thank you for being so brave and sharing yourself with the world!!
Great video! I have one request, and one tip:
That video is coming ;)
People think having tools all over is messy, I think its helpful and handy.
Wow, thank you!
Great information so far. When she got to productive procrastination, I thought of the days when I sold beads on ebay. I would get in the mood to shop. Instead of heading to the stores or online shopping for myself, I would head to the bead outlets and buy more product. They were pretty and shiny and fit the mood

Why do you make some of the most engaging ad breaks in my subscription list? They feel relevant and genuine, and they blend in (almost) seamlessly. Honestly, I have mixed feelings about that (Capitalism and stuff), but it's still a testament to your skill and artistry.
So excited to see another video. I LOVE your gardening style and humor. You are so fun to listen to and learn from!!

Congrats on the 400k subscribers! The farm focused videos seem to be doing very well. Good job 👍
I’m a 20+ year game developer, both AAA and a solo Indie on my own projects. And this is all some of the best advice you’ll ever come across. Practical with every word.
I can relate to the pig gate. Thank you.🙏
We just bought a house with acrage and theres so much to do and watching your videos helped my nerves.
I love all of this. Will buy your book - please do the audio book!
