This was an odd race. This might sound strange, but I think the rain may have been playing tricks on these guys a little bit psychologically. The three best runners in the race all seemed a little friendly at the start, and I think their nerves may have been a little too calm, and they had their guard down. I am surprised that Knight wasn't more aggressive trying to move up in the last 4-500m. McGorty is a great finisher and he held it down really well the last two laps, I think he was the one best on his mental game that day. He may have wanted to win the most. Maybe I'm wrong, but I just feel the mood that day was a little weird and it might've affected the way these guys ran.
i know you made this comment a long time ago, but as a runner i feel like what you’re saying is true. it’s already hard mentally when you’re in the championship, but also the weather doesn’t help. i think the biggest problem may have been they didn’t know what tactic to use which led them to panic / get off their game mentally - either way it was definitely mental, because they’re all great physically.

mcgorty won this race in the second to last lap
This wasnt 2018... McGorty gratuated in mid- 2017 so this is either 2016, or 2017
NicoGames709 he had more eligibility, Joe Burrow graduated from LSU before the championship game but still played
Then how come Mcgorty wasnt in the 2018 mens d1 xc championships?
NicoGames709 because xc is after track in 2018. Just google the results... it’s 2018
Slow race compared to what they normally run.
bravo a tous
Pre would have smoked these guys.
Pre's best 5000m = 13:21
Justin Knight = 13:18
The American obsession with Pre is genuinely embarrassing lol
