The only Collins I've ever seen that gave him a run for his money was Michael McElroy, and I'd be hesitant to even try to compare them due to how much they both brought to the table... I'f you get a chance, watch RENT filmed live on Broadway and tell me what you think of Michale's performance. I honestly don't think comparing the two is even fair with how original both performances were

Jesse is one of the coolest, kindest, and generous individuals I’ve ever had the pleasure to be able to call a friend! This dude overcame a bad stuttering problem and difficulties with reading as a youth, and he’s overcome it to the point where he is a successful actor and one of the best impromptu singers I’ve personally encountered! He’s also overcome a lot with his own family, which I won’t elaborate on out of respect and privacy. I love my brother Jesse!

Yeah he knew Jonathan Larson and that’s why he was cast as the original Collins. It’s sad cause I’ve heard that when he sang this song in the original show he was singing it for Jonathan.
