Thank you for this review, I was looking at this as part of the $25/mo intro internet offer and was curious about this box. First thing I notice is that this is SO MUCH faster than the cable boxes in opening apps. The cable boxes took about 40 seconds to open an app like UA-cam, this looks better. It looks like now they're shipping it with the full voice remote
@@airosthekuma4147 I'm actually planning on doing a switcheroo, right now I'm paying $115 for internet, cancel my account and have someone else in the house sign up for an introductory offer "oh yea they moved out"

Great video. I have a question, are you able to cast youtube videos from your smartphone to the UA-cam app on the flex? That was the reason why we didn't used the previous flex model. We cast our UA-cam videos from our phones to our Roku stick and it is a feature that is essential for my wife and I. Thanks.
Oh, that sucks. What router do you have? I have the old black rectangle one, and it gave me nothing but trouble. Since getting the XB7-T I haven't had any internet problems.
Didn't know I could get one from xfinity for free until 4 years being with the service. I got mine a week ago, but I don't see the functionality of it 😕 since my Samsung TV has all this already.
Yeah a lot of people end up not using the Flex box because of what you are talking about. The Flex does best if you have an older tv that is slow. Or you don't like the tv's UI layout.
I have xfinity tv cable subscription and I use their boxes and remotes on non smart TVs. Will this device replace the boxes and remotes I’m renting each month from them? Thanks
i'm a xfinity/comcast customer already and have there typical dvr box in our living room now, and use roku devices thruout, can i use this like in my office and still stream the xfinity app on my office tv like i did with the roku?
@@AtHomewithLucas thanks, will see if i can get a flex unit to try, if its free. going to stop by my local store to talk to them about my bill, so we shall see.
Hi I just got rid of my cable and offered this flex box....I'll receive today. I really want my local stations Abc (Good Morning America) etc. Am I able to get access via this box
So the flex box has live tv, but it's not normal like you had with cable. It uses different providers to show normal live tv. So it has Sky news, Live Now (Fox), LX News, Morning Rush, US News, Reuters Now, Entertain This...and those will provide ABC news, USA today and so on and so forth. Good Morning America is available through Hulu Live and needs a monthly subscription. That is the only way I know how to watch it on the flex.
Do you know if I can use my Xfinity X1 XR16 remote control on this device instead? I'd much rather use it for the number pad on flex device through the Xfinity stream app they say it can be paired with flex on their site but I'm not sure if that's true.
This might be a dumb question but I was wondering if I can buy one from eBay and use it just to stream like Netflix without an Xfinity WiFi subscription or anything
@@AtHomewithLucas I have an account just no past subscriptions or anything, just want to know if I can buy it, login with my account that has no subscription and just stream Netflix UA-cam etc.
Okay, if you have Xfinity internet, you can get the Flex for free. I wouldn't buy it because it's free through Xfinity. As for streaming UA-cam you can't with the flex. Netflix works if you have a subscription and same with other streaming services.
Thanks for the review. A little constructive criticism if I may: - Lighting is far too bright and washing things out. - The light reflections are dead center of your pupils which makes it look like you have none. It's very off-putting. Otherwise, fantastic work. Really appreciate the updated review for early 2023
The Flex is just a streaming box to stream apps like Netflix, Hulu, HBO Max...this is not a tv box. Also it's free and only works with Xfinity Internet. So if you are paying for internet you can get one Flex for free.
It SUCKS!!!! I upgraded my Internet with Xfinity and the customer service agent talked me into getting flex. I told him I didn’t need it because I have a Roku and he said that I should get flex because Peacock is free and I won’t have to pay for the box or anything else. Well, I unplugged and other component, spent all the time setting it up, and spent a ridiculous amount of time trying to talk to somebody to find out how to set it up for free because it kept asking me to pay for a subscription. It turns out, you do not get Peacock for free. You get nothing for free that you wouldn’t get on a Roku or fire, TV, etc.. Now I have to return the box to a Xfinity retail store and spent a bunch of my own time dealing with this. They are scammers and just want to get you to have the box so when the introductory offer is over, they can start charging you for the rental.!!!! I’m happy with my one time purchase of my Roku. Thank you very much.😡
So Peacock was free for years as a way to get people to use it. They just recently stopped the free service (this was free with Xfinity Internet) as for returning it you didn't have to do that just put it in a closet and forget about it until you end your service with Xfinity then you return the flex and whatever other equipment you have from them. Sorry you had such a rollercoaster of an experience with them, but that's tech for ya. Can't trust it to be all it's talked up to be.
@@AtHomewithLucas how will I get live tv, such as news and other? Thanks for your reply. I’ve been trying to talk with Xfinity directly but I seem to get a different story every time and I’m trying to keep most of the channels I have now and cut the cord.
