    Thanks this was very helpful to me. I found similar debris and was able to carefully remove the pieces of plastic. I will install an in-line filter flojet has one that attaches at the inlet. Just FYI - my issue of a low pressure pulsing tap remained and was fixed by adjusting the pressure switch - there is an adjustment screw located behind a square cover plate where the two main wires connect in to the switch.

    Very helpful John. I had this happen last fall with a brand new Keystone Crossfire Bullet 2200BH. I did not venture far enough to clean the existing pump after seeing I could buy a new one on Amazon for about $60. But, after inspecting the old pump I removed, I discovered plastic shavings exactly as you found.
    Now, in prepping the RV for spring again, I am having the same cycling on/off issue. I can hear water flow in the pump., and I am guessing it is the same issue. Unfortunately, my pump is under the murphy bed sofa, so access is a real pain!
    I also want to look into an inline filter to prevent this. I'm guessing there are some more shavings.

    • @JohnMarucci
      @JohnMarucci  3 роки тому +2

      Adding the inline filter is a good idea. I think these shavings are from when they bore the hole in the plastic fresh water tank at the factory. The shavings fall into the tank and get sucked into the water line and into the water pump. Likely it is a one-time deal with a new trailer, but adding filter certainly won't hurt. All the best!

    As always great explanations, details and solutions. Straight and to the point. Question, did you put an inline filter in between the tank and pump?

    • @JohnMarucci

      Joe, I did not put an inline filter and the pump is working well. It is a good idea and I may add one this next season. Thanks!

      I think the holes bored in the plastic freshwater tanks at the factory are the issue. No one cleans out the tanks after drilling them.

    Thanks John you sent me in the correct direction. I did find those infamous plastic drilled bits in the check valve, however that didn't fix the problem for me. I discovered that the electrical connection needed to be pulled apart and the seal coated with silicone lubricant. Any air leak must be drawing air in from the outside so I don't quite see how the plastic bits could do that. I could see how the plastic bits could allow water to run backwards if stuck in the check valve. All happy now, thanks again. But now it's back to being as loud as ever! Any solution there?

    • @JohnMarucci
      @JohnMarucci  2 роки тому +2

      I cut very small pieces of rubble about 1/8” thick and put them between the unit and floor and screwed through them to lessen the vibration, but some models are just loud. You may check the smart folks on the R-Pod owners forum (not Facebook) and see what other solutions some of the long-term owners have come up with: rpod-owners.com.

      In addition to adding rubber washers under the pump mounting bolts (do not tighten the bolts all the way), you will quieten the pump by insulating all the pipes connected or located close to the pump - if any tube touches another or the floor, etc. pump vibration increases noise. I used lagging made for thermal insulation of water pipes - cut them lengthwise and simply wrap the tube - pump will be barely audible.

    I had this exact issue this past weekend. Took it apart to find the same shavings. The thing it I had this same problem last season but it was under warranty and the dealer swapped out the pump. They could have easily just cleaned it out but either didn't know about this common issue or made more money warrantying the pump out. Either way I'm installing a strainer before the pump so this does not happen again.

    • @JohnMarucci
      @JohnMarucci  Рік тому

      I think I had at least three water pumps replaced on the Ember I bought earlier this year (and recently sold). I think these plastic tanks are drilled out at the factory and shavings are in the tank to get sucked up into the pump. Common sense to have a strainer. Thanks for sharing!

    • @jockosboy17
      @jockosboy17 Рік тому

      @@JohnMarucci I would agree that the shavings are from the factory tank install. Crazy thing is my 2017 Jayco had a strainer but my far more expensive 2021 Keystone does not. Weird industry.

    To get water to run through do you need your hot and water hoses both open . We have the Valves that turn 90 degrees. Our pump runs but there is no water coming through.

    We just bought our RV, brand new. 7 days in, and the water pump doesn’t seem to be working. It’s making noise, But isnt doing anything. We filled the fresh water, check the power, and its showing a reading of quarter full, even tho it’s completely full. Any suggestions? Do you think the pump already died? It’s a 2022 coachman freedom express.

    • @JohnMarucci
      @JohnMarucci  2 роки тому +1

      That is pretty odd that the fresh water tank is only showing 1/4 full even though you have filled it completely. If it is brand new, I'd call the dealer and get it back in asap to check the electrical, as well as the water pump. You should be under warranty for the first year at least.

  • @dylanwilliams1125
    @dylanwilliams1125 Рік тому

    I just did this but no dice… any other ideas? Just replace the pump? Also, does the pump even have a back flow or check valve because mine is also filling up the fresh water tank when using city. So for me, it’s either deal with the annoying noise and turn on and off as needed using fresh water, or just let water leak from the low point drain…

    • @JohnMarucci
      @JohnMarucci  Рік тому

      So there was no debris at all in the check valve of the pump when you took it all apart? Usually you will find very fine plastic shavings. If not and it is still a problem of staying on, there is usually some sort of leak after the pump keeping it running. I would try to track down any leak, but if you can't find any, try a pump replacement. Water getting back into the fresh water tank seems to point to the valve in the pump itself staying open, usually from debris, so if you've exhausted this, you may just want to replace it.

    Hey john, my rpod fresh water tank is full, when i turn on water pump, water is coming out city water connection??? Any ideas?

    • @JohnMarucci
      @JohnMarucci  2 роки тому

      It sounds like your check valve may be stuck open allowing water to back flow to the city water line. The pump may be clogged with debris. You may want to disassemble it like shown in the video and clean any debris out. I also recommend getting a second opinion from some of the knowledge folks on the RPod-owners forum. rpod-owners.com

    The fact that these factories can send them out with shavings in the tanks is absurd. Just had our trailer at camping world for 6 months, this was one of the many issues that didn’t get fixed out of about 26 or so.

    • @JohnMarucci
      @JohnMarucci  2 роки тому

      I agree. This is a real pain with new trailers. I think they must drill the plastic tanks and never clean them afterward. Causes real problems on pumps with no filters on the intake line. Thanks!
