So funny how angry the commenters get. Nicole tried to pull a rhetorical fast one, by using a "shared" experience to pull Naomi onto her side of the argument. And Naomi wasn't having it. Her point is based on her professionalism, that there's a right way to do things. There is a right way to walk a runway in a gown. The models who know, give the hem a little kick, so the dress floats out ahead of them. What Naomi was trying to say (but it didn't come through because it looked like she was trying to control her anger) was something about respecting the designer's vision enough to present the dress without grabbing it up in your hand and possibly ruining it. Her point is based on her professionalism, that there's a right way to do things. There is a right way to walk a runway in a gown. The models who know, give the hem a little kick, so the dress floats out ahead of them. What Naomi was trying to say (but it didn't come through because it looked like she was trying to control her anger) was something about respecting the designer's vision enough to present the dress without grabbing it up in your hand and possibly ruining it.
If you consider that the beads and sequins and crystals are sown onto those haute couture gowns one at a time, and the dresses are handled by people with gloves - it is clear that it is a matter of pride not bragging when Naomi says she "never put a (bare) hand on a gown". That's why she was the muse and friend of several designers -because she has that level of respect for their work. And the other lady is a name I have to google...
