    1. Ignoring the bengalis who were the majority.
    2. The dominance of religious fundamentalist towards formulating Pakistani constitution.
    3. Punjabaization of Pakistani administration..
These speaks a lot about Pakistan. I wish Madam Jalal would have been more honest and straight forward.
I wish to hear from her about the cultural and moral dilemma and dichotomy that is haunting Pakistanis..

Plus, the Urdu speaking immigrants who left India, flooded Pakistan & imposed Urdu everywhere. Thats why Karachi during partition had a diverse population i.e. Sindhi's, Parsi's, Christians - all these folks now, are in the minority there.

No one can change history and it's consequences. But we can learn from the past to improve our future. The partition did flare up tensions between hindus and muslims and it carries on to this day. The Pakistani establishment feeds on this animosity and cannot afford a resolution of issues between the two countries which would render them virtually powerless. But we need to somehow resolve the issues and stop being enemies. Only then can we prosper together. This region has potential to lead the world in prosperity ... If Europe can do it, why can't we?

What's secularism? When loot from colonies started piling up in UK, France and other European brute countries their Deep State didn't want to share the loot with the Church clergy. To keep the clergy away from the State's decision making they came up with idea of secularism.
In 20th century when these Anglos had to run in hurry from Bharat they created first ISIS (Islamic State of Indian Subcontinent) called Pakistan using Khalifa Al Lundoni Chiknah Jinah and their newest prophet/popat called Gandy, and imposed Sickularism on rest of Bharat using their unelected Pappu Khalifa Al Lootyani ConAngrez KaamRaid Bandit Nowheru.
What's the core national interest of Pakistan? Islam?? MBS & MBZ are deIslamizing their societies just like Gaddafi, Sadat, Assam and Saddam tried before. West has mastered use of the gang/legion Islam as Weapon of Mass Destruction by breeding Khalifas like Khalifa Al Lundoni Chiknah Jinah, Khalifa Al Baghdadi of ISIS. Chiknah was the first Khalifa of ISIS (Islamic State of Indian Subcontinent).
China has solved its Islam problem by putting in concentration camps like asylum all its MohMaddens. Bharat needs to send its MohMaddens to asylum called Pakistan.

the Hindu mahasabha was NOT secular either, so don't take credit for great men like Tagore and Gandhi and call it Hindu benevolence.
it is also nonsensical to ask why a political PARTY is not secular. A nation is secular, and parties function within it, to represent local populations. Indian parties like SP, BSP, shiv Sena and of course your beloved BJP are not secular either.
As for Jinnah. as a lawyer he WAS secular, despite your hate filled propaganda making this seem unbelievable. bachpan se sirf ignorance hi sunte hotao to yahi hota hai.
His demand under the Muslim League were that Indian Muslims be granted separate electorates, to ensure their representation.
As for the 2 nation theory, it was NOT interested in partition, as Jalal clearly explains. it was about electoral autonomy for Muslim majority regions, not a division into 2 Nations. we may disagree with this plan, but AT LEAST try to use your mind to understand reality.

Mr jinnah's basic postulate was ; Hindus and muslims are 2 entirely different and opposite nations and can not live together ,and his entire politics started from this premise.

Ayesha Jalal, speaks more as a Pakistani and particularly Jinnah apologist than a historian. I do grant her the scholarship obviously but scholarship demands transparency of thought and opinion. As an example she take umbrage with Pakistan being called a failed state and demands a standard for the failure. I suggest to her to set her sights a bit higher and out of the 3rd world ring of either colonial misfits or just plain illiterate administrators and institutions. Every Pakistani institution is failing and compromised. The corrupt army calls the shots in more ways than one. Population is out of control, malnutrition is threatening a not so bright future, illiteracy is rampant. Shall I continue Ms. Jalal?

you have tried to summarize her thesis, but you've got it wrong. Not sure if it's an original effort or if you read it in a kunji.
When she mentions "power sharing", it's not a "conflict of opinion"; it was a disagreement about Muslim electorates and majority state identity within an undivided nation. The Muslim League (Jinnah's party) would maintain power by claiming a certain electorate, and so upholding the rights of Indian Muslims.

History of Pakistan begins when first Muslim entered in India. This sowed the seeds for a two diverging ideologies.., One strong believer in One God and worshipping Him alone while the other believer in many Gods ( Idols) and worshipping hundred of deities . Both these ideologies were 180 degree to each other.
Number Of attempts were made over a thousand years of their living together to forge a kind of a unity or melt them into a single entity or nation, but all if them failed except creating a semblance of a single state that too mostly under Muslim Kings and rulers. This artificial unity was torn apart the day the Muslim rule came to end with arrival of Britishers. I dare say that the kind of artificial unity created by the British Umpire was flawed right at out set, It was a coersive kind of policy which gave India a semblance of unity.but it collapsed after Britishers control weakened after WW-II. Both Hindu and Muslims Leaders failed to come out with a durable solution to forge unity among Myslims and Hindus on the lines that it had worked before BritIsh arrival. The partial blame also lies on the Britishers bcz they ruled through Divide and Rule policy .
The ideal would be if they had stayed together but now let bye gone be bye gone. Both the nations houl pull down the brggage and sordid episode of Partition and try to live like good neighbors. Is there no worthwhile political leadership who can talk peace and ensure living in peace with each other. They must cooperated with each other and move away from the policy of brinkmanship so that their energies and scant resources can be diverted towards better human cause that is to alleviate the wide spread poverty and hunger.
In recent past, BJP beside its belligerent stance towards Pakistan, had taken steps in right direction by improving relations with PML N lead govt under Nawaz Shareef. Some how this initiative was sabotaged by a military Dictator by venturing across LOC in Kargil in Kashmir. But the same Dictator then went begging peace with Bajpai. I think with both parties in power now in both countries, there are good reasons that a new beginning can be made to forge better relations in both countries for betterment if their populace.

Let's not compare Ayesha Jalal with Ishtiaq Ahmed. Terms like erudite, sage do not just extend. Lack of discipline training in scientific research is absent in Ahmed. There is not a You Tube channel he does not like. Almost every interview I have seen are full of errors and made with a view of pleasing the largely schadenfreude-motivated viewers.

Yes it’s fact that Hindu leaders weren’t ready for sharing power in senate and weren’t ready to hold a single federal in Hindustan that’s why Jinnah fight for the rights of minorities even today Hindus are choosing government of MODI which is totally against the minorities. Hats off to Jinnah a sole spokesman.

What's wrong if indians elected modi as their PM? He is elected, not selected. Agar vo anti minority hai toh India me government schemes ka sabse jada benefit minorities ko kyu milta hai like housing scheme, direct bank transfer, gas connections? it is a revolution in india and dream for pakistanis. Can you give me one example of his anti minority law? In fact majority ke paiso se minority clerics aur religious schools ko paisa milta hai but majority ko nai milta. Minority can administer their institutions but majority cannot, minority have their own personal laws in India and it is laughable in a secular country, they can hold highest position in India & they did. Indians are also quite liberal coz we have elected muslims parliament members but you don't. BTW pakistan ki majority ko konse rights mil rhe hai boss? thanks to your coward establishment. it is such a banana republic where every institution is a mockery. i can proudly say that indian muslims have better standard of living and opportunities than pakistani muslims

Why do the Muslims still live in India when they got their beloved Pakistan in 1947??? Why don't they go away? That is the real issue.
