- Caballé had invited a young Bulgarian singer, Ina Kancheva, 3rd-prize winner at the Montserrat Caballé competition for 1999. Caballé said she felt as Kancheva's "madrina musical", or "godmother in music".
Kancheva was 23 at the time, and full of grace. She went on to have a modest but respectable international career.
Caballé dedicated a rendition of Vangelis-composed song "Like a dream" to Ina at the end of the concert.
Kancheva is Lakmé, Caballé is Mallika
José Collado conducts.

It's nice to see at some moments the young soprano looking at Caballé, as If she couldn't believe she was actually singing with the great diva. They both sound amazing by the way.
The fact that Caballe sang the part of malika and not the part of lakme oposite a young singer shows how Humble she was 🥰

I have officially reached the age and maturity level where listening to this affects me intenesely and viscerally... like an aching joy and sadness simultaneously... and a spontaneous urge for unexplainable yet familiar tears. If millions of years of existence percolates into music like this, then I would say it's worth it, even if only this is what remains.

the young singer Ina is swimming in bliss ... she is really feeling the music and this special moment with the great diva .. and I find the biggest beauty in people who lose themselves in their soul purpose ... her humbleness overwhelms me .. this song always brings me to tears, but when they hold hands, that's really such a magnificent moment - talent and love

I'd have to disagree describing Ina's career as modest. In any case, Ina's voice is perfection to me and I've been inspired to follow her career and recordings as a result of this posting.
This version of the Flower Duet is so heartfelt, personable and loving. I wonder if they kept in touch over the years.
