Tennessee Williams - The Glass Menagerie (Act Two)
Вставка
- Опубліковано 4 жов 2024
- Starring Jessica Tandy, Montgomery Clift, Julie Harris and David Wayne. Directed By Howard Sackler.
Recorded in 1964 by Caemdon Records for the Theatre Recording Society and released in a double LP box set.
Ripped by myself from a very shoddy source, though the mix in itself was pretty terrible to begin with.
Who's here because of school?
But no lie, this is a great play!
same, and I totally agree! :D
It's indeed a great play but I don't think anyone's here because they just wanted to hear the play. We're all doing this because of school

Summer homework before heading into y13
omg the crunching
okay so it’s not just me? I thought there was something wrong with my computer for a minute
It is so beautiful and calming.
cause its taken from physical media probably a vinyl record or something
I feel bad for Tom the most, his Mother keeps pushing him to the brink of insanity.
yes, I agree. She is obsessed and it’s hurting them 🤧
He really likes the movies
💀😭😭 indeed he does.
Thank for the video, even though it had bad sound in this last part it was so useful for me. It helped me to read the text in 2 days while alone it would have taken me a week. Thanks a lot
I feel so bad for Laura. She needs psychological help, but her mother pretty much traps her.

I spent my 13th summer listening and re-listening and re-listening to this. It changed my life.
scene 6- 00:00
scene 7- 18:39
you’re welcome
Were you born a hero, or did you just grow into it?
seriously this person is a hero for this
I had this album but it got ruined with my collection in a plumbing disaster.
Can you imagine SEEING this performed by these incredible performers? What a treat that would be. I'm going to state Clift is my favorite Tom based soley on this audio performance so that says a lot.
Harris as Laura is a perfect casting choice and Tandy is true to form (I kept expecting her to shriek at her son like she did in a year before in The Birds). David Wayne has the perfect voice but visually I can't picture him in the role.
Clift's final monologue... oh man... I don't even know what to say.
Montgomery Clift's acting gets far too little credit. His skill is what James Dean aspired to.
Completely agree and always felt that for what Dean gets credit, Clift was manifesting about 10 years ahead of him.
The fact that an actor like Clift did not win an Oscar made the award pointless. He deserves ten Oscars for this voice work alone. Sheer genius he is!
Blow out your candles
As Amanda, Tandy found a Williams' vehicle far more suited to her styling than Blanche DuBois -- in what I've heard of it -- ever was. She really is superb here.
Thank you so much! This took me two days to get through!! ❤️
This has such a sad ending 😢
Indeed it does 🤧
Okay, well that was extremely depressing
Yeah. I'm so sad now.
Well that was really good! Tennessee Williams 👏👏👏
this is officially my favorite play
this was so useful even though the record skipped a lot. thanks!
I’m happy I found act two
can somone PLEASE tell me what kind of music plays inbetween the scenes. I love it and want to add to my playlist lolol
Darude - Sandstorm
Hello BPM 2023 - Camellia
What a ending
Thats crazy...dude did Laura do wrong
Robert Blakley lmao
Amazing!
Where does the random laughing come from?
It is Amanda laughing from the kitchen, she is assumedly having a good time in there.

if I was Laura I'd snitch to Betty about how her man kissed Laura. smh.
Is there only 2 acts?
I believe the play has five scenes that aren't broken up into any acts as published, but I've seen it played straight through or split up as seen here into two acts.
“ARE there only 2 acts?” Yes, 7 scenes total. Scenes 1-5 are act 1 and 6-7 are act 2.
the gay menagerie
parker bussinger out
Parker Bussinger funny thing is Tennessee Williams was gay 😂
There are also theories that Tom is gay and never free to be himself...

@@alinagower3321 well Tom is inspired by the authors own life
Good but sad
can you not have your heart beat so close to the microphone
Well I don’t think Amanda was too wrong in this. Sis just wanted the best for her daughter and her screwup son kept getting in her way.
I don’t think it’s fair to call Tom a screwup, he’s always felt trapped by his mother because she so controlling, of course he doesn’t want to be a bad person and leave his sister but I think he ultimately had to do it for the sake of himself. Amanda is doing what she does for her daughter brushed wants the best for her but I don’t think that she handles things in the right way.
It would be more prudent to analyze our society which only allows people to “succeed” if they give up their ambitions or agree to marry the first person they meet.
