THIS WAS REALLY HELPFULL EVEN IN 2024!!!! Kudos !
None of these worked for me, but I found the solution on a forum. Flushing the ink from the Maintenance panel fixed it.
I can't thank you enough! I was ready to go buy a new printer but Solution 3 of your instructions fixed my Canon MP490. I did have to modify Step 4 a bit. Pressing Stop 5 times didn't fix, tried pressing 2 times as someone else suggested, didn't fix, then tried pressing it 3 times, got a blank screen labeled "Service Mode", followed all the rest of your instructions, and VOILA! I have my printer back. Hats off to you, sir! :) :)
thank you guys!!! got the same issue with the MP940 printer..I pressed the stop botton three times instead of five and it worked.
thanks again!!
I fixed this 5200 error by going to printer's Settings and fixing the wireless LAN connection, introducing the modem password again. Before that, in Windows (Printers & Scanners) the printer appeared offline. After that it no longer showed offline and the 5200 error stopped showing, I was able to scan and print again, yay.
Thank you. Your presentation is clear and very user-friendly. It worked perfectly on my Canon MX350.
it didn't work but at least now I know the problem haha
Thank God for people like you. Keep it up!
Solution 3 worked for me on a mx-340. No modifications needed. Thanks!
I just fixed this problem (Error 5200) on my PIXMA MP490 using a slight modification of the third reset method mentioned in this video. The procedure that worked on my printer is:
Turn off your printer
Press and hold the STOP button (red circle/triangle)
Press and hold Power ON button
While pressing the Power ON button,
release the STOP/RESET button and then press/release the STOP two (2) times
Then release the Power ON button.
At t his point the printer should go into service mode.
The LCD should go white and display "service mode" at the top.
Wait until it displays an “idle” message. It will take a few seconds
When “idle” appears, open the top cover to expose the cartridges.
Open the cartridge covers, remove both, then close the cartridge covers.
Close the top cover and turn off the printer
Turn on the printer and after the printer initializes, reinstall the cartridges.
You can quickly test to see if the Error 5200 is gone now by trying a copy (just press the Black Start button to make a copy -- the button with the white diamond + vertical line).
The key to clearing this error is finding the steps to getting the printer to enter its service mode.
Good luck.
This was a great solution. It fixed my printer so it would at least operate, but wouldn't print any ink. Well, I just happened to have a new unopened print head so I put that in and filled the yellow ink tank that the printer said was low. Success, it now print just fine now. Thank you so much.
Never seen solution 3 before, and it worked. Shocked. Thanks.
Thank you for this tutorial. It helped so much. My printer is working fine again and no error message! 👍🏽
Solution 3 totally works for my pixma 2700. Always come back to this video after ink refill. Thanks
I tried everything here for my mx492 with 5200 error but no avail, then I thought of blowing thru the refill hole until some inks came out....and it worked! Halleluiah!
I was thinking I could just read the steps and get it but after watching you do it, it worked! thank thatnk you thank you!!!!
The video was done well. I was able to trouble shoot for my error code 5200 on the 2nd option. I do like the BLANK SCREEN notation on the slides and in your text. Your instructions are like making a hard power down and up on a computer. But this is for a printer. Thank you.
I have a canon ip2700 and after following the solution 3 here it started printing again! Yay! Prior to that it was showing error 5200. I am so happy now!
Glad you find it is working.
Wow! UA-cam instructions that actually worked for me!! #3 did the trick ...
Thank you, the third option worked for me even without replacing my colour ink! Very happy right now thanks!
Okay! This worked for me! I refilled ink in my cartridge and it did not recognize the changes. But, this method solved the problem! Thank you!
You are the MAN.....followed your directions and BINGO! Thanks for the information!!!!!!!!!
#3 worked for me as well. Canon wants me to spend extra money on a color cartridge when all I need to do is change my printer settings to print in grayscale. You save money.
That 3rd step worked like a miracle. thx a million!
THANK YOU!!! Solution #3 worked for my cannon printer and right before I had to turn in an important paper for college!
Thanks, I have a Canon Pixma MP280 and I was thinking that I had to spend money to replace it, but it was enough to follow the text instructions for solution 3. :)
MY SOLUTION!
I also had the error 5200 on my printer (MG3650). Tried all tips I could find, but to no avail. Then I noticed that the printer would copy with no problem at all. Next I tried printing from my smartphone, and that was no problem either. I started to wonder if the problem might not lie with the printer itself, but with the software on my computer (Macbook).
I uninstalled all Canon software and reinstalled everything, and MY PRINTER WAS BACK ALIVE!!!
Hopefully this will help some of you with the same issue.
Thank you, so much for the awesome directions!!
I really appreciate the time you took to make such amazing directions.
Sadly, none of them worked on my Canon G7020.
As far as I am concerned, it is a $300+ piece of JUNK!!
I am giving it away to Goodwill (IF they will take it!)
this is the only solution which helped me. thanks a lot.
Thanks for video, problem 5200 solved!

This is the second time I've used one of your videos, and it solved my issue both times. In this case, solution 3 worked. Error was caused by refilling the ink cartridge. Thank you!

Solution 3 works for my MX340. Thank you
Nice video, thanks. My solution for this error on MX420 was printing colour would come out light grayscale. next step was to print nozzle check and no colour printed out. tried deep clean with all colour and Blk and the error appeared. Replaced the colour cartridge and that was the fault.
Thank you! Number 3 solved the problem for me. I have a Canon MX340.
Solution 3 worked for me. Thank you so much! 😊
Thank you, worked perfectly!
Worked for me as well. 👌🏾
Number 3 did the trick! Thank you very much!!!
00:26 My MP250 runs just fine when the color ink cartridge is empty and the black one is full. Use printer only for printing documents. For my use, color is not needed. Color cartridge has been empty for about four years and has never caused an error code after refilling the black cartridge.
Finally fixed the error. Many many thanks!
I tried to only replace the black ink cartridge only. I replaced the color and resolved the issue. Thanks very much. I only need black and white printing. Is there a way to over ride the need for color ink??? Thank you!!!
Thank You so much. Worked great on my mx340.
Dankjewel, voor mij heeft het gewerkt
Thanks! I didn't think it would work but it did.

Fixed my MX340 as well. Thank you for sharing this information!
The way you pronounce button sounds like a very English expletive. 😄
Thanks for the video .
The 3rd Solution helped me out
Thank you very much for this helpful video!! The third option worked for me!
thank you so much i tried everything to fix this annoying code now it runs like new as i only had my MG4250 for a few months
Thank you! worked perfectly on my mx472!
Solution 3 worked! Thanks so much, I also have the MX340
Thanks for the help. Great . Don't know why the error code just doesn't say change ink cartridge - Double Dutch!!!!
Thank you ... method two worked perfectly!!! Thank you
Thank you very much my friend, you have taken a big problem off me, I send you a big hug and I wish the best for you, God bless you.
The first time I tried this fix it worked, although at no point during the process did the leds react to my button presses. I've now worked out that pushing ON with STOP pressed activates the counter leds, which switches between green and orange each time you press stop. Once I release after the 5x STOP, however, the error pops right back up again. Worse yet, now it also shows up in my computer screen!
Exactly which codes are there, because the blank printer screen never happened, the new device popup never happened, and I'm now using new catridges.
HALP. SEND CHOCOLATE. AND HAMMER.
Thank you very much, solution 3 is great.
thank you so much this is great it worked on my beast !
Thank you it worked perfectly for me
Thanks good buddy. 10-4 over and out.
worked brilliantly - thanks re setting it.
Tks... its very simple to fix...
Appreciated and thank you very much for the solution 3.
excellent up and running
MX340: #3 worked for me!!! (But I didn't follow instructions EXACTLY a couple of times and got nowhere. Then I read the comments and "Herg Lay" had success with MX340...so I tried again...EXACTLY)
thank you friend for your suggestion, it works
This totally worked! Thank you!
i will try the 3rd Solution but i believe it is probably the ink cartridge issue. my black has been low, color shows about 1/2 but could be low ink is causing it. if number 3 fails i will change all cartridges. will change in either case to make sure 5200 is not mech error.
Thanks, that helped!
Do you have the same 5200 cancelling procedure for the MG6360?
Cool, the 3rd one worked for me
Great video. Thank you!
brilliant thanks a million! solution number 3 worked!!!!
