Wow...thank you for uploading this...I've started cycling after almost 20 years...3 months in and I am in love with the freedom, fun and adventure cycling brings to my life...Videos like these have helped fuel the fire inside me to set a few goals for my self...First off a 50 mile ride, then work up to my century....then london to paris :-)
My sentiments exactly.
I hope you are still cycling Roger, and that it keeps you jolly!? 👍
@@tonypaddler Yes I am! 4 bikes now, Bianchi and Cannondale hybrids, Marin road and a Kona trail bike. And I've taken up motorcycling too!!
@@JollyRogerTheDodger
That's great 😄👍, and especially as you're doing different types of bike rides!
Great video Karina! Thank you for sharing your journey 😊 I recently cycled London to Paris at the beginning of October. It is a fantastic route !
Beautiful! The music added joy. Thank you for making it.
Bravo Karima, I completed the London-Paris via Newhaven-Dieppe 3 years ago and the Avenue Verte footage brought back so many great memories. I cycled Dieppe to Chaumont en Vexin day two and it was the greatest day on two wheels I've ever had x
Great
I still watch this as it reminds me of the ride I did - I loved it!!
Thanks for sharing your video Karima, I enjoyed a lot. Saludos from Mexico!!!
Great music and she’s beautiful

Really enjoyed watching your video. I am planning the same trip this September with family and friends. Very excited.....never been to Paris. :-)
That was brilliant, what a fantastic adventure, I don't know how you found your way especially down the little tracks. I wouldn't even be able to get out of London.
I was looking up London to Paris vids and was considering a group ride. This however has convinced me to go solo. Greater video 👏
Wonderful round up of your trip!! Inspired.

Great video and good music match!
I have done the calais to Paris route a couple of times that's all road and hard.
Long numerous climbs all the way pretty much.
Riding alone has 2 negatives no one to share the expereince with.
Having to lock up bike and sometimes unload it for pee breaks .
Congrats for doing it! Looks amazing! #GirlPower
inspirational

Just uploading my London Paris video now. I did Portsmouth to Le Havre then Calais to Dover. If I knew there was a Newhaven ferry I would have taken that!
Jo Martin-Kelly oh wow! that sounds like an awesome route Jo!
i actually heard about the la havre route and really wanted to go see it. unfortuanetly the ferry times didn't work for me.
well done havent done this route but the Calais Paris a couple of times a lot harder , looking to do tour route soon solo too, only issue is looking after your bike on bathroom breaks etc
MrOnyourbike thats very true.
cyclists first world problems ;)

Really nice trip :)
Thank you planing on doing London to Paris. Your video is awesome and inspirational. What camera did you use?
purplebabylon It was a go pro 3+
I hope you enjoy the trip like I did! :)
Great adventure. What type of Garmin did you use for GPS and was it helpful?
Well done on your solo trip. I am planning a solo trip also, I am trying to do it in 24hrs, any tips or advice would be much appreciated.
In 24 hours. Thats a nice challenge. Good luck!
My only advice is that you can pass by many nice places and enjoy them if you stretched your time a bit. However, if your plan is really 24 hours then it is doable and I have seen people do it. I would start late from the uk, so you spend most of the day cycling to paris because the main roads, especially leading up to paris, are quite narrow, have lots of speeding cars. And aren't very bike friendly. I learned it the hard way, but it seemed like they all hate cyclists. Especially the trucks :)
I used this website when I was planning my routes. Its really great:
london2paris.co.uk/routes/24-hour-cycle-routes/
Definitely have a Garmin with you so you can reroute if necessary. A phrase book, Nuun hydration tablets, and lots of energy bars.
If you have any more questions let me know. Otherwise, good luck! and if you do take a video during your trip, please share :)
Well done Karima!! Did you use a battery pack for your garmin/gopro
Sorry for taking a while to reply :)
I just charged them every evening so they were ready for the next day.
Is the route available on Strava or as a gpx??
Tell me you are going to this months Critical Mass ride? I'll be there!!
Ciao Karima....you're fantastica !!
Why you don't came to Italy for other enterprise !!
Amazing. A massive well done :-) I want to do this 2016 Spring. Where did you find the hosts?
+Paul Cartwright
Thanks Paul! :)
You can find plenty of people on both coushsurfing.com and warmshowers.org.
Just make sure you set yourself realistic arrival time goals as they hate waiting for people :)
Hi there, do you remember how many hours it took and what type of tyres did you use?
Hi Christopher, I did the almost 300km in 4 days. I used to cycle during daylight only and made short stops every few hours to enjoy views or snack. I know people who do it in a shorter or longer time. In the end it depends on the purpose of your trip :) the tyres I had were Bontrager 700x32c or 35c, can't remember now. The bike was a Trek hybrid, nothing sophisticated.
Hi I'm brazilian and I'm going to do this route in july alone. Tis is safe? thanks I loved your video.
Hey Vera!
Its super safe.
But as you know there are many ways to get to Paris. i chose to stay off the main roads as much as i could. the route was slightly longer as a result but it was totally worth it :)
Great video - nicely done - I take it you're a professional video editor/producer?
Not at all Paul. It was my first take on video editing. Probably why the video is so long :)
well done
hey, i noticed that you rode across some fields, did the garmin tell you that? As i saw on someone else's video that google maps took them down some inappropriate lanes as well. I am now unsure whether to take my road bike or mountain bike.
Thanks!
+tclancy210
Hey,
Majority of the field crossings were ones that I selected. My garmin setting was set to touring, which means occasional trails and less main roads.
However, there was one incident where Garmin told me to follow one road and I ended up at a dead end in the middle of a field.
Choosing what bike to take depends on how you want to do this trip, you can easily take the road bike if you want to get there faster and if you set your Garmin setting to roads only.
Hope this helps :)
Karima, well done. Did you post your route anywhere on the web? I am thinking of doing this solo in September 2016.
+Patrick Okigbo
Hey Patrick,
Great plan to do it in September 2016. It is really worth it :)
I mainly just relied on my Garmin to set the route for me. But I made sure it went through the 'avenue verte' and that it was set on 'touring'. I wouldn't recommend this setting if you will cycle with a road bike, as sometimes I went off roads, but if you have a hybrid bike then I definitely recommend the 'touring' settings.
If you visit my Strava profile 'Karima S' and look back to August 2014 you will find the routes I took.
+karima Thank you!
Classic !! Also insipring to get my fat lazy arse out there
