Just walked up and down the abandoned graffiti riddled track today. So hard to believe so much attention was once drawn to it. Now it rots away with nature. It's truly something else to experience :)
Its currently being restored. Summer training started in 2014 with international support. We'll see sliding competitions there again some day. The track itself is in excellent condition considering what its been through and is still considered one of the best summer tracks in the world. When it's restored, it'll likely return to its place as the nicest sliding facility in the world. There's nothing else like it, and given the cost of the project, there probably will never be.
@@SarahPalinQuit You're welcome to doubt it, but it's already happening... There's growing movement for a privately funded restoration of the track at the moment. It truly is a masterpiece of a sliding track, and a lot of people have taken notice. We certainly will see if anything more than the summer-track restoration (that's already been completed) is ever done, but given everything Sarajevo has done to reactivate their Olympic venues, I wouldn't bet against them.
@@SarahPalinQuit I also doubt it that track hasn't been used in over 30 years now covered in graffiti and overgrown bushes, the cost of restoration would probably be more than building a new one.
@@geko771 this is bullshit.. its not being restored mate! i just saw a clip from it dated last month.. its just nature that has savagely beaten up the whole track in vegetation, nothing more nothing less mate!
No that was something abc did whenever they carried the Olympics. No other American tv network could do it because their letters didn’t fit in to substitute for the top rings. I always thought it was kinda cool
Tom DLH must have had his humorous message taped to the inside of his bob waiting for the right opportunity to show it. What a character ! Eric Morecambe would have approved. Thankfully the American commentators were too polite to say "rubbish" !
Walked there today. Now its partly repaired, and there were teams that made sledding practice (wheel-based sleds). Very cool to watch!
Tudo bem amigo amiga
The best Olympics in history ❤ I watched as a kid! Then Calgary in ‘88 was completely epic…amazing era it was..

fun fact: it's almost 40 years later now, and the colour commentator is still calling races for IBSF
Thought he sounded familiar
Sarajevo one of the most beautiful city!
We did this same bob sled in 1987
Walked it today ❤
I'm pretty sure that modified Olympic logo with the abc logo crammed in there is grounds for some copyright infringement.
