Check out our long feature on KITT, the Hoff and the ultimate fan:
• 1986 Pontiac Firebird ...
KITT returns to the desert along with Michael Knight himself. DAVID HASSELHOFF sits with Christopher Rutkowski and goes for a drive in KITT. El Mirage lake bed is the original shooting location for the 19080's TV series KNIGHT RIDER.
We bring both TV stars back home to tell us all about KITT, cars and what working on the show was like.
We also recreate one of the most iconic shots of Michael Knight in the driver's seat. This is the first time this has been seen in 30 years!

I love how David Hasselhoff credited all the stuntmen and spoke highly of the orignal designer of the KITT car, its nice to see a lead actor giving credit where credit is due.
true and rare as you said,he is a class act
He wasn’t so humble talking about the new series and the new actor , not good from his part , to arrogant in my view
gerard . A the new series sucked, period.
@nexfero very very true!! just what i thought!
smtbigelow i have to agree. The new series completely sucked.
Dude always looks cool behind the wheel of KITT, no matter his age. Awesome
He looks so calm and casual riding K.I.T.T and is it just me or does David look like he's at Home behind the wheel of that car?...He'll always be Michael Long/Knight and no one can take that away from him.
PetritZeneli I agree. It's like everyday life for him. He just owns it.
***** That I didn't know. I can imagine how it would have felt at the time...owning it. Just awesome.
Dude was made for that car ..simple..!💪
Oh course he does.....that's Michael Knight
I would still watch Kitt and David Hasslehoff. He's still freaking got it :D
It's nice to see a star who can accept the aging process gracefully instead of making themself look like a burn victim.
lol yeah lol
LOL
You joking right
Looks a bit like Roger Moore...
Definitely and he looks healthy too
Wow. Dude remembered the stunt people. That's class.
Zidders Roofurry he worked with them on a daily basis for years. How could he not?
@@antiantifaterrier5761 Yeah over 30 years ago.
Do you remember the names of everybody you worked with that long ago?
I for sure don't.
The stunt double that resembled the Hoff the most was named Matt McColm (whom also made an uncredited guest appearance in the episode 'Fright Knight'). They were both a similar height too.
There is a fucking troll here
Hasselhoff is a really cool guy; he's brought a likeable personality to the series; it ain't easy acting next to a non-existent talking car and making it believable. What a great show for my childhood; great memories.
Great show for childhood and also for a grown man.
That is what is missing from TV today, many shows were always very positive in the 80's, Night Rider, Mcgyver, Heman, Shera, Brave Starr, the list goes on and on they usually beat their enemies while trying not to kill them. Today it's all about cheating, backstabbing, killing... Need more positivity in our lives again.
Absolutely agree with you and the above!!
Exactly how I feel...even though I was a german 90s kid i experienced all these shows as a kid...
for me the special thing about these shows was they had SOUL and A MESSAGE...and the message was a positive, humanly one...just as pointed out in the video...
it was great writers back then who don't get enough credit compared to the stars and actors who delievered the story...
i think hasselhoff understood that and did a great job doing this but he also gives credit to them...that's what i like most about him...
in most todays shows however i feel special effects, the coolness and hero factor stands above all other things listed above...
...or maybe i'm just getting old... xD
cheers
have a good one @@LeutnantJoker
Very true and catfishing..
You forgot the A-team 😝
All that's on now is boring crap like NCIS which is well past it's sell by date.
Knight rider stupid asshole David Hasselhoff is 2 years away from 70 he’s getting up in age but his knight rider days are behind him and very legendary in their ways thanks buddy peace.
I think its great that David isn't afraid to share his memories of Knight Rider. There is a lot of stars that will never talk about there past or first times on TV.
Knight Rider was his favorite .. show of his career ! he says he liked it more than doing Baywatch
@@SJ-ty5rwKnight Rider is hands down the greatest show ever, I don't care what others have to argue about it.
The best thing about this: You can see David really digs driving KITT! Love it!
Wow, I didn't know that Michael treating KITT as a buddy was not in the script! Thank goodness David decided to did this, or the show would not have been the same!
was the same with the voice actor for KITT, originally it was meant to just be a robotic voice, but he refused to do it unless he could develop the character of KITT
That's correct , when Micheal was in Trouble and talked to kit on his nightrider watch, i am 40 now but i feel 7 again, life is great with the '80 and '90's
@@Vorador47 Yeah, and Daniels and Hasselhoff first met at the Knight Rider Christmas party ...
Hasselhoff had this great cowboy/horse-whatever relationship with the script girl, no pun intended.
I believe that Hasselhoff contributed big to the success of the show. He always fought for giving his character more depth and for building on the back story established in the pilot. And we got three episodes with his then wife Catherine Hickland that are some of the best episodes of the entire show, especially "White Bird"
That's what was wrong with the reboot with Michael's son. The new kitt had no personality while Michael's son didn't treat the car like his friend.
@@Vorador47 . i think the german voice of KITT was much better
This made me like David Hasselhoff. Not that I ever really disliked him, he just always seemed so full of himself. Here he actually seems like a cool, down to earth, person.
Yes but he waxed off his famous chest hair.
I met him here in Berlin, he was a very down to earth guy. Cool, very kind, it was great that i had the chance to meet a part of my childhood.
fck he is cool...! ;-)
I'm happy that he's down to earth, still. I was 6 when this show came out and we watched it for the car back then because it's a Trans Am and it was the raddest car the way they tricked it out. I recently introduced my car obsessed 7 yr old son to Knight Rider and he's hooked. It's interesting seeing his reaction to this show because some of the features of K.I.T.T. have made their way to today's vehicles, including driving autonomously to an extent.
I've only just started watching knight rider and I'm really enjoying it. I learned from trivia that David petitioned to get the actress who played Bonnie back on the show.
First time I have seen and heard the Hoff completely natural and non fake mode, and you know what, I really like it, respect Hoff.
People say don't live in the past, but I don't watch new tv shows. I spend my time rewatching all my favorites from the past.
2K16 I am like that with music, and TV.
2K16
Same,I watch old shows because todays shows have to much sex and drug refrences to have as fillers. Also when you get to the finale you can be satisfed knowing theres not a cliffhanger.
Bouth
Yeah same here, today's shows can't match the shows of my childhood, something is missing in them, back then everything was done real, the stunts, no computer generated crap, shows then had passion, heart, heroism, action, adventure, drama, comedy and even a bit of romance, I miss the shows of the 80s, classics!
Same here, although I enjoy ‘the goldbergs’ an 80s theme sit com,
Looking at David Hasselhoff....WOW!
Still looks good for his age.
Still just as tall, too.
Seeing KITT brings back so many memories.
Used to watch this show ALL THE TIME!!
I love how he remembers all the different drivers...seems...humble. Like he's a good enough person to remember those that helped him in his career and not some stuck up ass that forgets people the moment they aren't needed anymore.
That or I'm just looking too far into it haha!
+Logical Reason Actually .. I was thinking exactly the same as you did. He seems humble.
+jhhj635 loop j
+Logical Reason He seems to really "get it" in a way that guys like Shatner don't seem to be able to. That's not a knock a Bill, I just don't think he understands fans like the Hoff does. Shatner has realized that Trek is his legacy, but guys like Hasselhoff really embrace it. That's what sets him apart from others. That's why you never hear of fans having a bad experience when meeting him. He gets it. He enjoys it. I'd love to ride shotgun in K.I.T.T. with the Hoff driving.
pole
+Logical Reason I thought the same as you. A lot of TV stars never pay much attention to the production crew, or production technicalities. I like that David remembers the people, and the details, and he genuinely loves the car, and trained to drive it himself. I love that David can actually do those stunts and actually makes that tyre squeal noise himself! :)
I just wish we could see David sat with William Daniels. We have never seen these two men together (not even in a photo) and for me, Mr Daniels was an equally important star as David. It would be so cool to see Mr Daniels driving a KITT replica! I would also love for Patricia McPherson to be at a reunion. (Sad that Edward Mulhare couldn't be as he died in 1997.) They were all important and beloved characters.
"see it. believe it. you'll live it" !!!

Amazing!!
brought a tear to the eye this.
I was a 5/ 6yrs when knightrider came to the UK England in the early eighties.
God I love this show, still do.
I didn't have much of a father long story.
micheal knight was my father to me.
I looked up to him and wanted to be his friend
kids dream.
love you David
hope your okay
RIO BOW i think that's what made 80s showcase great they were positive influences for allot of people who didn't have much growing up.
30 years on I still love the Knight Rider. Thank you Mr Knight for bringing back KITT!
I love seeing David Hasselhoff in his element. Of all the acting jobs he's ever had I think Knight Rider ranks among one of his favorites. It is certainly one of mine.
BAYWATCH
The Hoff says to subscribe. Do what the Hoff says! Don't hassle the Hoff!
+BlackBunik Already did! I love his song TRUE SURVIVOR!!! If anyone doesn't, they are hasseling the hoff!!!
+BlackBunik no more hassle. changed his name today.
+BlackBunik I would never hassle the Hoff. I wouldn't even dream of it!
AMEN!
EABOY2600 Точно, настоящая легенда!
He still looks good behind that wheel. The sound of that engine is bliss too. If only they had used that sound for the shows.
capokhatpin I agree. I rather have heard the growl of the actual engine than the turbine sound.
Amazing to see the Hoff and KITT again! Definitely was my childhood show
They should have a special Knight Rider TV reunion movie or even a series with David Hasselhoff and the original KITT Pontiac Trans-Am. Not some customized Mustang or Camaro or other new car, but the 1982 Trans-Am to give Knight Rider fans a nostalgic offering.
Arthur S David mentioned they are gonna make a reboot with himself this time and his original 1982 Trans Aa K.I.T.T. car.
Since watching other Knight Rider series, I was not really interested in it. Somehow it just does not fit my style.
John Devito So??? They are just going to pretend that the rebooted tv series didn't happen? Just like the horrible 90s movie they made.
Jay, I'm talking about that Knight Ryder with a Mustang. I only watched a few episodes of it
theres only one replica id have which is spot on with the original kitt car.a must see video on youtube.
This brings back some great memories from my early teens, when the show first aired. They just don't make shows like this anymore. David still nails that reverse 180.
Good old Dave, he's always been able to laugh at himself which is a good job, because he is hilarious!

Yes, I still love him. ♡♡♡
and thank you David, kitt and all the people behind Knight rider for the wonderful memories.....😊👍👍
I loved that show. I really hope at some point in my life I'll be able to get a good KITT replica.
Reliving memories that still hold up today. Loved this! It is so great to relive these things, especially from the actors perspective and even knowing he lived into the character with the driving and stunts.
Great guy, perfect show, and he did most of the driving! Knight Rider! one of the very best things of this show,... NO CGI! REAL! Live on Michael Knight and KITT!
There was CGI. Or at least, visual effects which were made with computers.
Fantastic!!! love his words of wisdom, and his ethics behind the idea of Knight Rider, I agree that I liked how they didn't kill people, just save people, guy still looks awesome too, a real star!
Kingsoupturbo Good guys win! Some might think it's a little corny but how much fun was this stuff? What do we have today?
Totally Agree. His wonderful and still is.💯
bring the hoff and kitt back!!!!!!
A white man in a positive leading role? Forget it! It would be rejected at the first meeting. David as an assistant to two females, sitting at the back seat and doing what is told, is maximum you can hope in.
Great edition to the series. Hasselhoff's charisma completely overshadows that of the car. Great inspirational line at the end as well. Nice work!
I met David Hasselhoff when 30 years ago (I was 13/14 years old at the time.) Never forgot my first crush.
Give me your gmail so we can communicate
He's a professional driver. I'd take lessons from him if he ever teaches
This captures a lot of what the show was about and why I built a replica. It had heart, humor and the hottest car. I like how David mentions a few inside bits that he & Glen expand on with the DVD commentary. Great show with a great message that I am proud to be connected to through a great fan base.
This is also a super machine, congratulations Michael Knight for your creation and for this equals replica of your partner Kitt! The adventures carries on! Greetings from Brazil!
What a great interview, David Hasselhoff brought so much to this. Thank you very much!
Love K.I.T.T. and love The Hoff !!
Thank you for this wonderful interview. Even if it was short, I really liked the way David talked about all those stunt crew members and people involved in the show while driving around with the car. It must have been one big part not only of his career, but his life in general. Kudos to him still believing in the shows motto, if I got this correctly. The positive feelings communicated in Knight Rider still keep me watching it - warmth, helpfulness, family and last but not least the deep friendship between Michael and Kitt. There is so much passion and love put into that show, as the Hoff also said, it is worth thinking about and living it. Remember: One man can make a difference. :)
Loved this series. Glad He embraces it. All the stunts were real too! I didn’t know that. Very cool! I like that he did some of his own stunts too!
Not all the stunts were real. The impossible ones were done with miniature models.
One of favorite shows, they had some great ones back in the 80's
"I don't do anything well, I just look good doing it"
- David Hasselhoff -
3:49
At least he's honest about it.
David is so classy!
David Hasselhoff - We need more and more of Knight Rider kind of Motivational Videos.
Young or old David H is great, he is like the wine. I like him very much
he was my favorite hero in my childhood
Nice job! Great to see Michael and K.I.T.T. back in the saddle! David you do everything well, forget those jealous people that don't know greatness! Knightrider wouldn't be so popular if it wasn't you in the acting role.
David Hasselhoff is a wonderful person and very considerate toward his fans. I had the pleasure of meeting him briefly many years ago and I never forgot. He's still an inspiration.
Audrey Seddon he's not them stupid celebrities that fake everything and ignore fans I saw a video on yt he came back from somewhere at the airport and everyone was questioning him and David actually answered and when he went into the car he was asked one more question and someone was going to close the door but he resisted the door and answered
Total respect for the Hoff, nice to see him not putting on the act for the crowds, but him being himself, as commented earlier - totally agree, he seems very down to earth and genuine.
One of my favorite shows!! They should bring it back !!!
I watch all seasons on pea cock always loved night rider
love you David! you helped me through the death of my brother.. wow.. I wish.
I am right now watching Knight Rider on Hulu. This show helped make my childhood that much more awesome! I loved it.
It would also be great to hear William Daniels doing KITTs voice again but after all these years I wonder if it is possible!! Still that voice and personality of KITT was in my view amongst the main things that kept the show going :) Love Knight Rider :)
He done a commercial as the voice of KITT in 2012 for GE Trains
Great interview. Perfect setting. That car. That man. That desert. What I like about David when he talks about the series, you can tell he was and is connected to the series, and the roll. Much like when you hear Mark Hamill talk about Luke Skywalker. I get the same kind of feeling from David in interviews like this. Great stuff.
Hey, that was fun! Very cool that he was willing to speak so candidly about the cars, the show and the people he worked with giving props all around.
Great Video, brings back good memories!
David Hasselhoff was standing beside me waiting on a cross walk one day of all places in my hometown of Vancouver, Canada. He was dressed in his usual style but also had a trench-coat. I was surely shocked when I saw him.
The dude is tall and sure stands out in a crowd, hard to miss if you bump into him in real life!
I so love the show, the wonderful cast.
Sir DAVID HASSELHOFF we still miss your Knight Rider series.
I still rewatch it
+Tony Bamanaboni Same, I'm watching it right now.
+WITCH CRAFT Im watching KR 2008
+Tony Bamanaboni I haven't watched that one yet, I'm kind of skeptical about it. How is it?
WITCH CRAFT At first its crap, but the producers retooled it halfway through and somehow it started to grow on me.
I love it to see the old series, and i cant wait to see the new version of it. I hope he will go ferther than the 4th season, because I love the car, and David cant be miss, he is awesome looks very cool!!!
I was a huge fan of that TV show when I was a kid in the 80-s :D
thanks for this clip guys!!!
i wish they will continue knight rider, with david. not a reboot, but a continuation. like tron.
A wonderful actor and extremely wonderful human being david hassel hoff.
Who is David Hassel Hoff? Is he related to Quen Tin Taran Tino?
@@kackstuhl5528 he is related to superman
Knight Rider is about a shadowy flight into a dangerous world of a man who doesn't exist
David is an amazing guy. I miss the days of Knight Rider and seeing KITT and David just put a smile on my face. Thanks for posting this.
Great little interview. David looks really well. Love hearing him talk about Knight Rider and Kitt. It was a very good show. One of my favourites. It also makes sense that they had more than one car on set for doing stunts. If they only had one and it got damaged badly.. It would most likely have caused a delay in shooting/production. It's better to have a few replicas for those scenes :)
One thing I like about David Hasselhoff even when he was on Baywatch he always gave credit to the stunt people, the man is without a doubt one of the nicest people I have yet to meet because yes every time I see a video or a interview with him he is super nice, and most of the actors and actresses try to stay in touch with him, for example look at Pamela Anderson whom has always spoken highly of Hasselhoff even today.
David Hasslehoff: "I don't do anything well...I just *look good* doing it." (I love it!!!)
Great interview, and he's right. ONE MAN CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
If you follow Regular Car Reviews, he tested a KITT replica and had a very difficult time with that steering wheel even on straight roads. So cool to see The Hoff so effortlessly steer with it.
This is 99 kinds of awesome!
Ah nice to see him. Good video !
What a humble and great personality, David Hasselhoff. Awesome team that put a great showo. Loved the Knight rider..!!
David Hasselhoff looks amazing! Whatever he's doing, he doing it right! Great video! That KITT car is the sweetest.
This maybe is same desert, where described the opening of the Knight Rider episodes?
yes it is. I was there ;)
love the show.
Love the Hoff... and KITT of course.. He seems so real and personable...Nice interview.. Live on Knight Rider
aw man 12 seconds in and loving it!! oh and yes children back then every thing was done for real!!
Hasselhoff should been casted to new knight rider and make even movies those would ROCK!
Oh my god! David Hasselhoff is STILL Amazing in KITT!
I didn't know that riding shotgun with David Hasselhoff as he does a J-Turn in KITT was a thing. What an experience. Great video.
The music inside this clip is so Knight Riderish..... Love it ! Good Job !
KITT uses Window Smack Attack @ 0:58
AsianGlow hahahahah
and still not buckled up after.... smh...
😂😂
Cool: One man can make a difference...
Nuff said:)
Great show David we still miss you, big fan.
Great to see him and kitt again, sad thing is I cannot see this making a comeback again now or even making it into a film. I think that time has now been and gone sadly, Even though david has mentioned about bringing it back again a few times.
David Hassolholf still looks cool old.
I know. It still makes me mad how much potential they had for something awesome in the 2008 series if they would have brought him aboard as the leader of FLAG instead, helping his kid take over his role of the one man making a difference. But no, we had to make it Fast and the Furious: The TV Show and fill it full of nonsense.
Its all about the reverse 180
yeah, and it bumped the head of the passenger at 0:58...
(0 _ o)
Thanks soo much for sharing!
Always liked the reverse 180's !! Very cool to see him doing this even now!!
From the mouth of Hasselhoff, "KITT was designed by Michael Scheffe.'' NOT GEORGE BARRIS!
George Barris designed the super pursuit mode and convertible K.I.T.T, Scheffe designed the original car.
The hoff is a legend
happy new year 2016 Hasselhoff, your one of the reasons i had 2of em and I'd buy another
Good to see that the passion is still there.
Is this the desert from the intro ?
RetroSimon imagine if it was though
David Hasselhoff = Stuntman Mike
Awwww
Thank you David Hasselhoff!!!
You are an inspiration to me !!Still my favorite show!! Looking great!!!
God bless!!
Send me message or drop your email so we can talk
Aww! We almost forgot the other important character that being the voice of KITT, actor William Daniels who also played Mr. Feeny on Boy Meets World and many other roles throughout his career.
Anyone was expecting that Kitt say something smart?
Still want to make a KITT replica, and try to make it drive itself :)
Modify a Model S
Excellent video loved the iconic series grew up with it never gets old and the hoff belongs behind that wheel 😁
Amazing they are bringing KITT back!
