This is why sons from the past years you had listen to with grandma and grandpa going to get a 🍦 and they start singing and you start listening and it brings back memories from being a young girl or boy it's so nice to see younger people listen and a big smile comes out and you can see them thinking about back in time you can just feel the love of them ♥️in joy past and never forget the ones who gave you love and support and memories ✌🏼️🙏🏻🕯🇺🇸
I remember watching The Midnight Special, the night Redbone did the intro dance and then this song. I miss the 1970's...the music was great and artists wore all kinds of stuff on stage...from these guys, showcasing some of their heritage, to glam rock with their glitter and vampire capes, and high platform shoes...and there were bell bottoms, and sleek looking slacks...and lots of color. Anymore it just seems like everyone wears ripped jeans and t-shirts....and they need auto-tune to make them sound like real singers.
Well Rock hasn't died yet checkout young bands like "Greta Van Fleet" and "The Warning Band" and "Liliac" and if you like metal "Motion Device" in Redbone there was 2 brothers in it but all these young bands are family bands super talented.
As a teeanager in the seventies I really enjoyed this song. It was to me a anthem to native America, African American and Cajun/creole culture. All three groups identified with the message. Self love for marginalized and abused people was promoted by Redbone in “come and get your love.”
My grandmother was half Cherokee.. I love my Cherokee heritage, my great great grandmother was on The Trail Of Tears.. I loved these guys since the first time I heard them back in the 70s..
I am so sorry your great grandma had to suffer such inhumanity. A few years ago, I was driving cross country and made a side stop at the National Park. I felt sadness, but I also felt an overwhelming feeling of peace and forgiveness, like the victims forgave their tormentors. It was sad but beautiful, and very surprising. It wasn't what I expected. So, my belief after that visit, is that they are at peace with God.
@@jtoland2333 I agree with you.. my grandmother was probably the most kind, generous person I’ve ever known.. you didn’t want to mess with her kids, grandkids, or her dog..😂 but she had a heart of gold, and I’m sure that was passed down from her mother…
This song reminds me of my uncle coming home from Vietnam. I was on the porch of my grandmas house when a taxi dropped him off. He would play this song every day.
I had a huge crush on Lolly Vegas. They preformed at the Native American dance festival here in Idaho on the reservation. Getting a signed album and meeting Lolly was a highlight in my life. 💕
Greetings , my sister - I'm part Cherokee and I freaking love me some REDBONE -:I love that you really get the meaning of this song ; I just subscribed 👍
"We Were All Wounded at Wounded Knee" is Redbone's anthem for two tragic incidents 100yrs. apart that took place there. It is a song that is continually suppressed even to today. Check it out 😎👍🏽
When I was a little girl and it felt so good to see people that looked liked me. I’m so happy to see you loving this song and that you grew up listening. Your grandparents are awesome
Bwahaha, that is just brilliant, I was a member of the Dutch chapter of the Redbone fanclub at the time, I was 10 or 12 and literally everyone around me thought I was insane. So happy I never cared what others thought of my musical tastes. Another great one, India!

I loved this song since I first heard it, at 12/13 years old. Now, at 62, I am listening to the 1970's music again, in an effort to feel close to the biological mother I never knew (she died when I was 23, in 1984). There may be some Mohawk dna in me, I am not sure, but the family lore suggests it. All I know is, I love this song and always have! (It is on the soundtrack to "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 1", I believe, as the character of "Star Lord" was always singing it.) Another song that never fails to cheer me up is "Kodachrome" by Paul Simon (forget the year it was released, but it was 1970-something. Love your reactions, and I get being all emotional listening to songs your grandma loved; I get that way listening to Irish music, as my adoptive Nana was born in Belfast. Thanks for your wonderful videos!!!
I grew up listening to this, too. I used to think it was a Motown artist because this song does have that flavor to it. Was I ever surprised when I learned they were native Americans. Still love this song.
Oh my. This was first on the radio as I was graduating. Great memories. They were awesome Loved The witch queen of New Orleans too. I watched this performance on this show as an 18 yr.old. im in my mid 60s now. And Guardian s of the galaxy has finally got everyone to know this song now. Amazing. Hope the group got a little piece of that money, the ones that may still be with us. Just a great pick Thanks for the upload.
"Come And Get Your Love", by Redbone, was big hit song on local Pop-Rock radio stations during the early-1970s here in the Penn-Ohio Area. It was a very accessible song for people to listen to. It had a 1960s-style arrangement to it, with some contemporary guitar sounds of the 1970s time period.
When I was in High School, I would walk down to the Pied Piper Burger shop, drop a dime in the juke box and play this and Cherokee people by Paul Revere and the Raiders. Good times, happier days.
Thank you for your channel! I love watching your reactions to songs !! And, How ! Me Chippewa !! Minnesota. My grandfather was born on Red Cliff, Lake Superior Band Of Chippewa , Native American Indian Reservation Wisconsin.
Yes. I grew up with this song as well. But, later in life when I saw on video Redbone was an American Native band my mouth also flew open. And...I get the vibe.
Without meaning to sound political, that's why I personally feel bad about the conquistador statues being torn down. For many, Spaniard explorers were our forefathers and indigenous Native American were our foremothers. Yes bad beginnings, but we wouldn't be here without one or the other and I'm proud of both

Robin lol wow the ignorance to the history of America is strong in u lol u must not know that Mexico was originally part of the us which makes them native as well
I'm glad you liked them, they are a beautiful band that finally got the light shined upon them. Thanks go Guardians of the Galaxy for bringing them into light. RiP cousin Lolly. Glad you loved the video! Your reaction though, once you realized who you were listening to is absolutely golden lol.
I really enjoy seeing you recognize and realize connections of your own experiences to these older art forms and see how significant they are in our collective culture.
One of my favorite bands. Check out "Witch Queen of New Orleans". Rest in peace Lolly💖 Want to add that I was always in love with Lolly. I think he is one of the handsomest men I have ever seen. 😍
I love this song...I knew they were Native American but I don't remember them having any other hits. This song was huge. I was about 12 when it came out and I still love it. On Long Island there's an Indian reservation when my daughter was little we'd go in the summer. She loved the dancing. They are the Shinnecock Indians. It was cool.😊
Thank you for all your kind words. I started out with the Righteous Brothers and everyone thought they were black until they saw them. Redbone was one of my most fun bands. Thanks again!
Been in love with this song for 50 years. Radio DJ's never announced which band did the song...so I had no idea group was Native American....Just found out thanks to UA-cam...now I LOVE THIS SONG MORE!!!!
That's when I was prowling the streets of Hollywood. Saw part of one of their shows, was impressed. Good music, great showmanship, and some fancy-dancing. (If I'm right, that was a blessing and cleansing.) most folks were so danged serious about the music at the time. Funny factoid, there was also an artist working at the time named Leon Redbone. Nor relation at all.
I love you're reaction!!! I felt the same way, when I realized too. Growning up, I remember hearing my family members playing this song!! But when I heard it, on the intro to Guardians, it created a renew interest for me!! Loved it as a kid, but love it even more as an adult!!
India, great reaction! So happy you got to walk down memory lane with this song. I grew up on it, too but, when it came out in 73! I was 10 ys old. Thank God I had 2 older brothers that turned me on to all that great music from the 60's and 70's. It was my favorite song forever. It always made me feel happy and that was a luxury in my home, feeling happy didn't come often. Whenever I hear it I get happy and dance! Now, when I hear it, it will always remind me of this video and how happy you were hearing and recognizing it from time with your grandparents. Take care and blessings to you. Namaste.
I loved these guys when I was a kid and being white from Arizona trust I got some looks but music is just love no matter who sings it or who loves it💕still sing this one at Karaoke and it makes everyone happy 😃 much love to you girl🥰
In a way I grew up on this song as well. The first radio station I regularly listened to was an oldies station, 94.7 WLS, in elementary school, around 2002-2004. Those songs have been a constant staple in my music library ever since!
Same here. I grew up with this song and really didn't know who sung it. It was part of my life for a few years, even. Wildly talented who finally got their due. Sad loss, but the song and talent lives on. -Jeff Goes Random
On one it's sad that way too many people haven't heard a lot of really great 70's songs. But at the same time I love that some are taking tine to listen, and leard about them. Some back when. JMHO.
Co-a-linga Vas-kez [grin] Lolly broke a string on my guitar once two decades ago... RIP -- Check out The Spinners "It's a Shame" from 1970. You'll love it too!
Don't you just LOVE it when you find your artists singing those songs you grew up on??!! I just LOVE watch your reactions to the songs i myself also grew up watching on The Midnight Special. And it really was special cuz it was very hard to SEE your music back then. Ha...LOVE it! 🌱 And on The Midnight Special....the was NO LIP-SYNCING.
You missed a couple of music shows. ABC had In Concert which aired Friday nights, and CBS had Don Kirshner's Rock Concert which aired Saturday nights. I think the advent of MTV made these shows irrelevant.
I guess that Dick Clark just got tired of doing "American Bandstand", and the show finally ended. As for "The Midnight Special", it was getting more costly to attract Rock and Soul music acts, along with standup comedians that appeared on the show. When the TV ratings went down in the early-1980s, NBC decided to cancel "The Midnight Specia". They felt that they did not need it anymore, because "Saturday Night Live" was such a big success for the network. "Soul Train" continued on for many years in syndication, until Don Cornelius' production company could not continue on with the show due to rising production costs and low ratings (that, and the rise of Rap music in the African-American community).
Im native american and was in college in rural oklahoma when Redbone sang this song. Me and my friends would go out on country roads, drink beer and sing to this song, loud . There were white, black, Mexican friends and native people all having fun!! 💯🤗👍 I'm 70 years old now and i love this song. 👌👍👍 Still. Thanks for giving it a 10 ! Love your channel 😘
India..Great Reaction to this..In 1995 this was covered by the band 'The Real McCoy'..it was a #1 hit also..If you've wanted this version a little bit more upbeat than i recommend you checking out what The Real McCoy did with their version. It's the version i grew up on,but this older version,(or the original Redbone song),is still quite good.
Melissa Ward here. Lolly and the whole band were ahead of the times. Loved them and the midnight special. Such wonderful talent. And the end was spectacular

Robin lol wow the ignorance to the history of America is strong in u lol u must not know that Mexico was originally part of the us which makes them native as well
A’HO ❤️ jordan
Everytime I hear this song I feel to dance smexy. He'll what da matter with my moves! Lol
So fun watching you find a song you've heard for years but had no idea who the group was.
Redbone was afavorite when they hit it big when I was in school. One of my favorite songs from the mid 70's.
Lolly was gorgeous.
nah natives are lol
Lolly was gorgeous ……. I have also always loved him too…. Such a voice ❤
love the costumes and culture of natives, here in Canada called "First Nations" Awesome reaction!
I like that "First Nations" ❤
Regalia, is the proper term
@@hellogorgeous6004 Because we don't wear "costumes"
hi love
Hi Lesley, costumes are for people be something they are not. We call it regalia or an outfit. Have a great day 😊.
I feel so lucky that the radio station we listened to ad a kid had a wide variety of music .and I love your reaction's
I grew up listening to it on local stations as well. They played a lot of great stuff.
Native American and Mexican American band
Been in love with this song for 50 years. Radio DJ's never announced which band did the song...so
I had no idea group was Native American....Just found out thanks to UA-cam...now I LOVE THIS SONG MORE!!!!
I'd give anything to be "prowling" in LA during the 70s
Damm you made me cry watching watch them and your reactions . I could tell you loved them . Feels good to know.....bless you music heals.
We are a PROUD people we ARE NATIVE AMERICAN, PLEASE KEEP US REAL, I appreciate your support because WE still struggle with RACISM. But thank you !!
I grew up with this too...loved this song!!!!
I loved seeing the joy on your face as you listened to this song.
I am so proud that I love this song and it’s by Native Americans! Thrive brothers thrive!!!
I love you're reaction!!! I felt the same way, when I realized too. Growning up, I remember hearing my family members playing this song!! But when I heard it, on the intro to Guardians, it created a renew interest for me!! Loved it as a kid, but love it even more as an adult!!
My fav song for years I am happy ppl are taking notice now from way back, also tyfor the encouaging words
Original american indians. That song was in guardian of the Galaxy
Love this! Keep sharing your insight and joy! Thank God for you!
You can't hear this song and not want to sing the "heyyy eyyy" response.
Or do the happy dance
The correct word is "hail" not ""hey."
Line Dance on You Tube for this song...perfect to dance down the aisle or song on the dance floor at a wedding.
Ya I totally loved on this jam like from I was small . And now I saw the face on the jam .it puts it altogether. Now I really love this jam
Blackfoot song "Train, Train" or "Highway Song" Native American band
Loveeee that amazing song!
@@cynthiabustamante2884 I wore the record out "Blackfoot Strikes" what a great LP bought it when I was 16.
The Train song has always been my favorite.
You are so genuine! Music brings together all races, creeds, and generations! It evokes beautiful memories!
I love this song. Like you it's brought back good memories.
In a way I grew up on this song as well. The first radio station I regularly listened to was an oldies station, 94.7 WLS, in elementary school, around 2002-2004. Those songs have been a constant staple in my music library ever since!
I love this song I always wanted to hear more of their music. If you can find more post them.
@Dan Thomas thanks
There are lots of their music here in UA-cam. Just search for Redbone band. You will get to hear some of,the best music in the industry
Same here. I grew up with this song and really didn't know who sung it. It was part of my life for a few years, even. Wildly talented who finally got their due. Sad loss, but the song and talent lives on.

On one it's sad that way too many people haven't heard a lot of really great 70's songs. But at the same time I love that some are taking tine to listen, and leard about them. Some back when. JMHO.
Lmboooooo!! Girl, I knew you would know this song!!!!
Love your enthusiasm and surprise. This song had a special place in your family’s memory and it was cool you shared it
Co-a-linga Vas-kez [grin] Lolly broke a string on my guitar once two decades ago...
🌱 And on The Midnight Special....the was NO LIP-SYNCING.
what ever happened to the music shows...american bandstand, midnight special, soul train
You missed a couple of music shows. ABC had In Concert which aired Friday nights, and CBS had Don Kirshner's Rock Concert which aired Saturday nights. I think the advent of MTV made these shows irrelevant.
MTV put them out of business, and then stopped playing music.
@@LaptopLarry330 - I think Soul Train continued until the late 80s. That's where Jennifer Lopez caught her break.
Eric Kirk MTV was great when it started. It’s so sad what happened to it.
I watched it twice just to see your excitement when you recognized the song😊 you should react to Wovoka by them next.
3:29. Priceless, the moment she realized, THIS....was THAT SONG.
Yep...listened to this back in the day. Loved the Midnight Special!
Love that look on your face when you realized you knew this one, 😂
I love this...I never knewwho sang it either...I grew up on it too!! It was on the radio a lot!
Loving what you're doing. Makes me smile everytime.
Melissa Ward here. Lolly and the whole band were ahead of the times. Loved them and the midnight special. Such wonderful talent. And the end was spectacular
