These are covid numbers which means they don't trully represent the usual average. That is why Mexico and Canada are so high because Americans only traveled there during covid due to proximity.

Brazil doesn’t get a lot of foreign tourists because of lack of infrastructure, expensive flights and lack of English knowledge. Also, some countries need to get a visa to visit
Yup, and also (similar to Australia) it's kinda isolated and far away from major tourist origin spots... I.e. if an American wants to go to a tropical beach paradise, why go all the way down to Brazil, when the Caribbean is so much closer?

Cape verde is a small bunch of islands but a massive tourist destination, especially for Europeans. Im in the UK and cape verde, Sal island has been my favourite beach holiday so far. The TUI group has multiple hotels on various islands so is a big destination for multiple European countries especially northern Europe.

Countries doesn't have too much tourism because of conflicts, locations, borders. Mali and Eritrea didn’t have much tourism because Eritrea is very unstable and everything with forced labour and corrupted government. Mali doesnt have much tourism because of the fact that all the country is located in the saharan desert.
Also Mali has had multiple coups, terrorism threat etc. recently. The Junta (+ Wagner Mercernaries who are also active there) aren't exactly nice to their people. The history is also way more obscure for most people than Drew thinks, it's not like Egypt.

assuming Gabon gets more visitors cause it’s a french speaking country surrounded by larger french speaking countries, might have more cultural affinities due to french colonialism and ease of communication.

honestly these numbers don't make much sense to me, also the way tourists are count varies from country to country. some like France count how many enter the country even though they are just crossing it and not stopping... some other count them based on the nights spent in the country etc

@@Maps_and_birds I know but there's Jerusalem, Betlehem and Nazareth for religious pilgrimages and Tel Aviv for beach parties. That's 3 of the most important locations for abrahamic religions and one of the biggest party locations on earth
