Very cracking sound, tuned high. 👍🏿 Using the heads they came with, I see. ..I never changed mine, either. A very distinct sound..a bit like metal, but very light in weight..
i have a 7x13 slp maple. these slp drums are really well made and appointed. die cast hoops, dual adjusters, couldn't really ask for more. #NotSponsored #SomeonePleaseSponsorMe
I have this, but it’s not as loud as my various maple or metal snares. It has got more of a metal sound.. Worth remembering, if you need volume, or if playing un mic’d.
NIck -Why do you state that you need to re-tighten the tension rods after loosening the 3 to get the Phat sound? Can't you just keep them at that level?
Thanks for replying so quickly! I have a few questions. I'm looking for a good drum set under $2500. I was looking at DW drum sets and other ones. I want something for my Christian Rock band but on an extremely right budget. I'm looking for a good drum set, hard ware, and cymbals. I need guidance to find a new drum kit for my band. But on the other hand, I don't want it to sound all worship because we play other genres such as pop. And nice would be helpful too. My microphone budget is around $500 for a good set. Thanks once again! And I have to admit, Sweetwater is one of my personal favorite music companies because of how nice they treat the customers. 10/10*!
Hello, Cr8zyH! To my ear the SLP Spruce snare has a bit warmer, more developed mid-range, and not quite the highs of the Bubinga. Thanks for the interest! Cody Kraus, Sweetwater Sales Engineer, (800) 222-4700 ext. 1766, cody_kraus@sweetwater.com
Thanks for the question, Scott. Here is a link to the drum: www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/LSP146WSS--tama-slp-fat-spruce-snare-drum-6-inch-by-14-inch So, 6.5" X 14". Great sounding drum, huh? And really an amazing value! Let me know if you have other questions. Derek Senestraro, Senior Sweetwater Sales Engineer, (800) 222-4700 ext. 1243
I own this snare, and this recording is very accurate to the true sound. Sweetwater’s demos are a great resource in the age of online shopping!
Absolutely correct...
I’ve bought a few snares, based on demonstrations here..
Nick does a great job as usual with the song demos... Amazing playing!
11/8 intro! I spent more time with the first 8 seconds of the video than the rest of it. Cool song, cool snare. Nick is such a bad ass.
Got this snare today I love it very well made n sounds good
Very cracking sound, tuned high. 👍🏿

What a great demo track for that drum.
Great review from Nick as usual.
I'm going to check out this drum. PLEASE.... What was that last demo song?
Nick is awesome
Possibly the best looking snare. May get it just for the looks

Hi Nick d Virgilio from sweet water
I hope you do the dry aluminum too- I wanted to hear someone A:B those 2.
Fantastic sounding snare and beautiful playing by Nick D. Which Meinl cymbals are being used in this demo? Gorgeous!
Hey, John! Check out the description for a list of the gear used in this video. Thanks for the interest!
Nicks favorite tuning on snares is high or omg that’s high lol
This is a sounding and looking snare I'm split between this and the hammered steel snare
This
This, definitely, although the Tama SLP 13x7” G maple, beats both..
I have this, but it’s not as loud as my various maple or metal snares.
It has got more of a metal sound..
Worth remembering, if you need volume, or if playing un mic’d.
That's great! I'm looking for a quieter snare that I can put a lot of energy into without being overwhelmed!

Perfect for that.
Lovely sound.
NIck -Why do you state that you need to re-tighten the tension rods after loosening the 3 to get the Phat sound? Can't you just keep them at that level?
If left with dramatically uneven tension over time it could warp the drum shell and in some cases the hoop too.
How would you compare this Spruce snare to TAMA's Bubinga snare?
I was wondering the same thing. I have a g Bubinga and g maple.
😍😍😍
One question, what cymbals and bass drum are you using?
Hey, Zach! Check out the description for a complete list of the gear Nick's using. Thanks for the interest!

Where can I find the song in the beginning of the video
So this snare or the G Bubinga?

Is it 14x6 or 14x5.5?

A great jazz snare, rather than rock.
Very light in weight…
Size?

I have both these two and the SLP Dynamic Bronze.
All 3 great...
Amazingly light in weight..
Easier to carry around.
Love these snares but tama couldn’t have made an uglier badge for the SLP snares.
