one tip. typically the torque specs for the spark plug are without anti sieze. using anti sieze throws off the tightening and you will probably end up over-torquing the plugs by around 20%. just means your 15 ft lbs ends up being about 18 with anti sieze. not a huge deal but worth mentioning :) great video though! short and right to the point. I came here because I have to replace the plugs on my mom in law's 2008 yaris. the car is 13 years old and runs perfectly fine, aside from a few rattles from heat shields and stuff. toyota makes bullet proof cars :)
Nil cost methods for those like me whose spark plug socket doesn't have a mechanism to retain the plug. Removal - After undoing, fish the plug out with a small bar or horseshoe magnet attached to a length of string or copper wire. Another way is to use the vacuum cleaner crevice tool. This is long enough to reach the plug, but small enough to both provide excellent suction and not 'swallow' the plug. Replace - You need more accuracy here, so wrap a short 'tube' of newspaper into the socket then force the plug into it. You will have used the correct amount of paper when the plug cannot be shaken out. Fit and torque the plug and remove the socket. Every time I've done this the paper has come out with the socket. If it doesn't, remove the plug and repeat.

if you get the correct plugs for whatever car you're dealing with, they will come pre-gapped. some people will always double check but on a car like the yaris, which isnt' running high compression, it will be fine. if it idles rough, then you might want to check. you need a torque wrench to check the tightness.

it will still be about the same. stick to 15 ft lbs, but don't use anti sieze. that's the way to do it. almost any car falls within the 14 to 17ft lb range. that little difference won't break anything. trust me, everyone overthinks the tightening aspect. on my old mazda, i just used to hand tighten, then put on a normal wrench and do a quarter turn. never measured and never had an issue. spark plugs are so easy to do, everyone should DIY.
