You are an exceptional instructor, I love the way you break it down and show examples on white paper that are easily visible on my Zoom TEXT program. Thank you! For all of you visually impaired artists, Lori is a channel to follow!
Fantastic lesson on the pencils. I am now writing notes to tell myself if pencil sets are wax or oil. Some I already know, some I do not. I will be watching this video over and over until my brain cells remember. Thanks so much.
Thank you for giving me (and many others) those “A-ha!” moments-first with the awareness of undertones in colors and now with the fundamental (practical) difference between wax(ier) pencils and oil(ier) pencils! I feel like I could easily have struggled (unnecessarily) a long time with colored pencils without really being aware of and understanding those concepts (and I know there will be many more to come).
I Love you! you have so much valuable info in every video. I can't express how thankful I am that I found your channel. You are truly loved! Marcia in Modesto
Thanks for the comment about the brown colours. I was looking trough recent videor and found my self thinking about them. Oh, and please correct me if my english isn’t correct, both written ang grammatical. (It is my second language and therefore not as easy as I wish and I welcome any correction so I can be better. TA!)
Thank you for another great video. Your instructions and demonstrations are excellent. I got my Deli pencils a few days ago. I absolutely love them. When I opened them I had the same reaction as you. They are beautiful. Thank you for “turning us on to these” as we used to say in the 70’s. 😊❤️
Hard & Soft Edges ... words for what I didn't know how to express! So obvious when you state it in a brief burst vid; not so obvious when I'm doodling along :g: P.S. Got my magnifying glasses with the little lights on Friday last. Omigosh it's like a whole new world. My one eye thanks you soooo much for sharing about these glasses again, because this time I was ready to hear. I still have to stop frequently due to eye limit, but that horrible eye jump & blur from squinting is Gone! These glasses have renewed my spirit. I'm so grateful for your videos, truly life altering experiences to be had here in your world. Thank you for welcoming & encouraging us.
Great explanation of the difference between wax & oil pencils. If I only have oil pencils, how do I do the soft edges (like by the nose) in my picture?
My colorwheel will be delivered between June 4 and 17th! 😫 I’m trying to set up my pencils, but the 2 color wheels I have are definitely “incomplete”, I don’t know what to do with the browns, might have to use Prismacolor color family order to see if that helps... I tried moving the wax from a Black Widow pencil, it did not spread like you demonstrated, yet, they are sold as wax based pencils. 😒
I have a question about the pencils you linked in the description. Ok I read all of your descriptions so basically the 120 set is the same just thinner? It just seems like a better value. I have already bought the 72 though. Hopefully I can take your course if i can find time. I learned a lot from this quick video, so thanks for all you do.
I did a picture last year, June! All in my Faber Castell pencils! In the Kerby Rosanes book. I can't remember if I ever sent to you! I also had to make a new IG page. They had my other one lost in the clouds somewhere! 😂😂. So every picture I already had loaded, I have to redu! Grrrr! 😊 ❤!
Oh! And which book is that illustration you're using from? I checked the ColorIt link, but there were so many books that I didn't know which one that was from. It doesn't have to be an actual link, even if I just know the actual book title, that would be enough 👍
Wow, that's a beautiful pencil you used on the tiger/girl picture. Is that a Delhi? You may not be able to see it from your angle, but if you watch the clip on... well I use my phone mostly for internet stuff, so maybe look at it on your phone. It's just the most gorgeous metallic look - it almost looks like a metallic gel pen. And this is another very helpful video, especially when it comes to laying down your highlights etc first using oil based pencils. I didn't realise that there was that as much of a difference as there is.
Yes there is. A pencil is put together using oil based binders or wax based ones. All pencils have a combination, but lean one way or another. So there is oil in wax and wax in oil. They preform differently too.
@@ColorMyWorld all pencils have wax. Its the kind of wax and its concentrations that gives the "oily" feeling to it, or waxy. So all of them are wax based ☺️

Great tutorial especially for those new to oil or wax but also just for understanding the why behind how you should blend
Love this challenge I am already amazed at my coloring growth. Look forward to hear how others feel
Thought I knew more than I did! Thank you for clearing things up.
Wow a lot of information but so helpful and informative. Thank you so much

This is a very understandable video! Thanks for going over a few areas to explain. Made a world of difference for me.
Now off to pick a flower! 😁
your videos are always so wonderfully helpful...thank you for all your efforts
Great video!! I really enjoyed, and needed this info.Thank you
Wow! With all the coloring I’ve done and the hours of videos I’ve watched, no one has shown the difference in how the wax and oil lay down. Thank you!
Great demo of the pencil differences!
Thank you. Very helpful.
Thank you so much ..awesome information as I’m just starting out 😊😊🇦🇺
Awesine Lori. I have just recently started mixing Prisma and Poly Chromos so this was so helpful.
Yes yes YES!!!! Been waiting for this video. Thank you so much!

Great video, thank you!
Is there a list of the pencils showing which are wax and which are oil?
Or does anyone have one.

Melinda-The book she showed wasn’t from Colorit, that is why you wouldn’t have found it that way.... it is “Coloriage Wild 4” by Emmanuelle Colin.
@@FernCurtis Oh! Thank you so much for that! It's such a beautiful illustration 😃👍
Fun, thank you!
Nice I have hard time do that lot time

Great.... ❣️ Thank youuuu💓
There's no such thing as "wax" or "oil" based

The oil pencils smear alot,I like
wax pencil.
They get those crumbly bits or dust. Actually wax can get that too. It depends on the pencil.
