    Buddy, they FUCKED you plain and simple. To get PSA 5 and 6s like that is pathetic. I mean i have vintage cards with with dinged up corners, and edges that grade 6s and some higher. I don't get how those Griffeys would truly deserve what they gave them. I think sending all those in at once may been bad ideal. They arent going to allow to many 9s and 10s of this card. I do think and would bet you money that those low grades 5s and 6s would grade better if scattered out and resubmitted. Some of them may not but i truly believe many of them would grade much better if submitted again slowly. Good luck in the future.

      The problem is that these new highly printed cards are all mint so they are super picky on these compared to 1952 topps which I collect. I only buy nicely centered 52 topps and you might not find 1 in 50. All of your cards graded have sharp corners and centered so everything is already mint. So they must be more strict.

      Not necessarily I have seen 5-6s look way nicer it's called pop control and they 100% control the grades if the emblem on the back is not perfectly centered it's a 7 automatic and then count off for centering you easily have a 6 possible 5 don't have to be much wrong to get a 5-6. Facts

    If you look at the PSA pop report of the 65,226 1989 UD Griffey's submitted only 4.79% came back a PSA 10. You sent in 51 Griffeys and with those odds you should have had 2.4 Griffey's graded a PSA 10...so technically only 2 should have come back PSA 10 from your submission. That's a bummer man, but the odds were going to be pretty low to being with.

    After collecting cards for 20+ years I've noticed that the penny sleeves can damage the cards too. I've had times I just slide them in and the corner catch the plastic and cause minor damage that can be seen magnified. Now I crease one end to make sure it never catches. Plus there's a lot of things can't be seen without magnification.

    • @fastfootedone
      @fastfootedone 5 років тому +1

      exactly! I cut one corner (Left) off my penny sleeves, so that when the card goes in it won't catch. For eye appeal, the penny sleeves won't damage cards, but for grading and magnification, most cards have touched those sleeves going in and suffered very minor damage, which magnifies in the grading.

    • @tgwhisp200
      @tgwhisp200 3 роки тому

      You know what you should do... You should take all of those sixes and crack them out of the case on camera... Never allowing the camera to go away from the cards... Once they've all been cracked and everything is still on camera with the camera rolling gently place each one of them into card savers... Place the card Savers into the box to send back to PSA... Keep the camera rolling the entire time... Put the submission in with the camera still rolling... Tape the box up keep the Box on camera... Drive to the post office all with the goddamn camera still rolling... Never allowing the box to leave site of the camera... And then drop the Box off at the post office. This might seem like a lot, but it can be done. You should be able to do the entire process less than an hour. With a full battery you should be able to keep the camera rolling the entire time. At this point you now have physical proof. Then when the Box comes back, break them all out of the box on camera as well. And then look and see what grades you get. At that point if there's any major differences, that's grounds for a lawsuit. On so many levels. Sports card investing is a huge business. There's absolutely no difference between grading companies destroying your investment, and pump and dumpers or short-sellers destroying an investment in a company through its stock. Yet we get lawsuits all the time because people brought down the value of a company with unethical means in the stock market... Yet this is essentially the same thing. Matter of fact, I wouldn't even mess with the nines or the 10... But it might be worth it to crack the Apes out of their case and resend them in. Why? Because maybe they come back at 9 or 10 and then you win. Or, maybe they come back at 6 AZ then you have grounds for a lawsuit. Either way, this needs to be brought the people's attention. Just looking at those cards there didn't seem to be any Rhyme or Reason. There's no chance most of those should have been graded a five or a six. Looking right at them. Seeing how sharp they looked and the centering Etc. There's zero chance that should have been graded a 5 or a 6. Not based off of normal criteria. Which leads me to believe that the comment about you being population control might have some Merit. And if PSA is manipulating the grading find things that are not based off of the actual condition of the card, it brings the entire operation into question.

      @@tgwhisp200 Great minds think alike! I’ve been saying everything you said for the last 2 years, and people think I’m crazy! Population control, market control on eBay, creating false sense of worth through overinflated asking and selling prices! PSA is just a fanboy card grader at this point. There’s absolutely no rhyme or reason as to why they’re number one over BGS! For starters, I believe BGS has always graded cards much tougher, and their slabs make PSA’s look like cheap tinker toys. Beckett was who EVERYONE in the hobby looked toward for card pricing back in the day, so from that standpoint, I think they have the most merit in the grading business. PSA has been bought, and paid for by the Elite’s who are looking to protect their assets and investments, period! Nat Turner is an oiled up little weasel who’s in it for the money, not the passion of the hobby! He serves his pimp’s such as those weasel sellouts Jeff Bezos, Mark Zuckerberg, and Jack Dorsey just to name a few. They’re all one in the same, and probably circle jerk on Elon Musk once a week. This is why I’ll always prefer BGS over PSA.

Like they'll never allow certain submissions with a bunch of high dollar cards of the same kind get 10's because they know it will hurt the population, which has an effect on their appeal. But theyll randomly pick a certain order and decide to give one person all 10's. Their basically a fucking casino...

    I stopped collecting years ago but that card was iconic for me, I never got to own it though. Speaking for myself, I would love to own a 6. Not for investment or anything, just to own. I was a 10 year old Mariners fan and Jr. was my hero, I just could never afford the card as a kid.

    Makes me wonder if... when PSA gets a bulk lot.. they grade em SUPER PHUKN HARD as to not kill the honored 9 and 10 spots.... bro... they hosed you !! I would crack open 5 of the lowest grades and re-sub them independently... bet they come back graded higher !!!!

    I know this is an older video but this is disturbing. According to the current PSA population report, if my calculations are correct, PSA gives 10's to about 17% of overall submissions (32,979 10's out of 193,814 total submissions). Your submissions got 1.96% that came back a 10. PSA grades about 6% of the submissions sent in as 6's. You got about 41% that came back a 6. If you inspected these hoping to get 9's or 10's, you should have gotten back about 8 as 10's and only about 3-4 6's. This tells me the big guys and auction houses get the better grades. Little guys like me that only submit 20-30 cards a year will never get the consideration as large submitters. (I guess the bright side is that one 10 is worth about $2K so depending on the service level you covered your fees).

    I have heard that the little round stickers that came in the packs, can damage the cards surface. If too much weight is put on the boxes/cases when being stacked, this can happen. It seems that's what happened with a lot of your Upper Deck Griffey cards. I was pulling for you man :)

      Thanks for the info! I did see some micro scratches on some of them and didn't under stand how they got there. That makes sense. I appreciate the comment and I will not give up on 89 Upper Deck. Yet. :)

    PSA gets really stingy and higher standards when it comes to grading mass-produced cards from the 80's and early to late 90's - including 89 Upper Deck which would be considered "rare" for that era but still...... A PSA 5 for a card produced in 1989 would be like PSA 8-9 for a card produced in 1965...

    just solidified my case against PSA. You submitted 51 and they obviously want you to resubmit 50 of them. Their success is in your re-businesses. LOL...... I'm all BGS from here on out. thanks for the video.

    I think PSA does these crappy grades on purpose. None of these should be any lower than 7-8. When I see stuff like this it makes me never wanna submit. I see some people get 10s with minor damage

    UA-cam is implanted in my brain. I was thinking of doing this with something else and THIS video pops up. I have 6 and going to buy more until the card is really sought after (it also has parallels). I have not said this out loud and I just thought of this project today. Creepy...
    But this is an iconic card and so will the one I'm betting on. This is a highly sought after RC, the start of Upper Deck and the boom of the hobby. Could sell in any grade plus commands more when Gem or Mint.

    BGS with their BLACK LABEL (quad 10's) has put a ton of pressure on PSA to make a PSA 10 for new material extraordinarily difficult...... I thought PSA might buy out BGS in the future but the new material disparity makes things rather hairy......how does PSA not recognize the finer 4 qualities of a new card with the 4 aspect breakdown like BGS does? PSA would say they do evaluate all 4 aspects and that a PSA 10 would equate to a Black LAbel?? REally? PSA OWNS VINTAGE GRADING ...but BGS has surpassed them a bit in NEW STUFF. Future should be interesting.

      Every one of them left there PSA HUSBAND INCLUDING THE OWNER. That’s really a true statement I know because I was F_c_ ing THEM ALL while they were grading those Ken. G.Jr. Trust me it was a blast big house with a lot of rooms lol yes it was PSA’s owners house not mine. So I would like to apologize to everybody that sent cards on that day if they would have graded them on the day shift they would have all been tens because there newly ex wife’s work the day shift and after that night they couldn’t have been in a better mood going to work the next day I mean shit you might have been the only one to get a graded card of a 20 after that night lol funny shit I agree with y’all what do they grade those cards off of and what kind of consistency does each grader have with the other graders surly they test them and see how close they grade compared to each other I mean shit you might have one guy that sees and graded way different so it’s not the card it’s the luck of the draw with witch grader you get and to me that’s not even the purpose it’s to truly grade the cards the same way the same spots to look at on every card then have them write down a brief description on why that card received the grade it did and log it in to there website so the owner can go back and compare the notes on each card and if you have a problem then allow them to send it back and have some people that have been in the card industry or have graded for many years like all the managers and if they agree with the original grader then those card keep that card if not they break the holder and regrade it right or notify the owner on how they want to handle it but we all know PSA owner want like that it’s more money and time and money out of his pockets and you know he is paying child support cause I’m telling you he does I’m with her when she cashed it lol I mean look all card guys want is a fair guideline graded card not the bullshit they do like this submission shit maybe I should start a card grading company I already know plenty of graders after that night gotch ya let’s keep the card world moving ahead

    Personally I prefer SGC or BGS grading to PSA. It don't even have anything to do with the grading scale. If you notice PSA encapsulation the cards are not secure and rock within the encapsulation. I wish they would change that it because it can damage the cards from within (edges)

Rookie like that the last thing you're going to want to do is make him a bunch of tens cuz that would probably flood the market of what the tens our work out there he probably would have had a better chance on 10 sending one in at a time

I’ve decided to only use grading companies that break out the individual grades so at least I can learn what exactly hurt the cards grades.
