I got your kit and extra solution. It is somewhat easy to do, but on my 8600, it was difficult to get the tube attached From another post, I used his waterpik method to pump the fluid on LOWEST setting. I have a 100* setting on my oven, so just dried it in there for a few hours. I do need a new printhead, but am glad I went thru these steps.
My HP 8600 All-in-One had an error message that said "There is a problem with the printer or ink system." Turning off-on had no effect, but your video fixed the problem! I removed the carriage and ran water through it (did not have any type of syringe or eye dropper; just running water and a small artist's brush). Then I blotted-it-dry with paper towels. Blotting it brought the excess ink through the carriage. Keep blotting until it don't blot no-mo! :-) Dab at the excess water in the unit by twisting the paper towel and dabbing into all the crevices. Put it back together and follow the prompts. In my case, it asked for ALL new ink cartridges. SUCCESS!! thanks for posting this video!
Additionally, this printer was purchased at a thrift store for ten bucks, and I've been using it for several years. I was willing to take the risk of completely ruining it, because it was "dead" anyway! :-) Works Great now!
FYI: I saw another video wherein it cautioned that, when you clean the separate jets, you need to take care not to put too much pressure because each color has a bladder and if you damage it you are screwed.
This was a great video. I bought your cleaning kit from Amazon. Worked like a charm. I think I pushed to hard on the syringe a few times and spit ink everywhere. Not to bad, and printer is working just fine now. Thanks for the video.
Thanks for this tip. They said I had a problem with the printer head saying it was not installed properly or damaged. Tried this method and it starts back working!
Have an HP 8600 that's been sitting around. Had filled the yellow ink at Cxxxxx, and the printer got pissed. Wouldn't work. Sat around for a while (yes, me, too), and I guess the ink dried a bit. Got the printhead cleaning kit, and followed this vid. Bingo. Thank you!
Thank you very much for this video. I was getting the ink system failure Everytime I put a new magenta cartridge in the printer. I cleaned it using your video after ordering the syringe and solution from Ali Express and bang the printer works again. You saved me about 120 $ which the company quoted for a new printhead. Thank you so much !
Okay scratch my previous comment. This is crazy, but listen to this. I cleaned the print head like I mention previously and but in all new ink cartridges. It kept coming up with printer failure and the issue was the ink system. After several more cleanings and the same result, I got an idea. I took out the new ink cartridges, and put in just one of the old ink cartridges. The printer went back to the main menu screen, which it didn't before, and it saw the cartridge. Then I did that for the rest of the old cartridges, and each time it saw the one added. After I got all of the old ones installed, it went to the main menu, and I was able to print a perfect test page. Tried put ALL of the new ink cartridges in at once and it failed. So, I did the same thing with the new ones that I did with the old ones, one at a time. And now the printer is up and running. Craziest thing I have every seen! Why that worked I have no idea, but whatever....
Thank you! Question - I had the print head out and there's an electronic board in back. I didn't see the back of your print head so I don't know if yours was the same. When I'm cleaning each jet, how do I keep the electronic board dry? Another video showed how to remove this board? I'd rather not do that. Can I put plastic over it to protect it?
my hp 8600 printer prints a printer status report very clearly but when a try to print from the glass or feeder the copy has streaked vertical lines, and the document is barely visible. how can I clean?
Thanks. This has worked perfectly for my printer EXCEPT for the yellow. I can't force the solution through the nozzle. It feels completely blocked up. Is there a fix? Or is it time for a new printhead?
What is the purpose of the film over the print head ink reservoirs that you are cleaning out (other than the obvious of retaining the ink)? I’m guessing this was HP´s answer to manufacturing a small reservoir. Does it serve any other purpose being a flexible film?
My HP 8630's front door when opened the printer head will not move to the left so I would be able to change a ink cartridge. Can you please help me out ? thank you.
I have a HP ENVY Photo 7858 and have no way to clean my printhead. My issue is my color ink prints just fine but I can't get my black ink to print. Any Ideas?
I have this same printer. How did u not damage the chip on the back of the print head when u laid it in the container like that? The cleaner I bought mentioned soaking the print head for 8 hrs prior and to use caution the level wasn’t open high or it could damage the circuits if it got inside. In ur video you just laid it straight on its back right where the microchips are. How did u not damage them?
I want to save my 8600 but the magenta just won't clear. I can flow the cleaning solution through all the other colors except magenta - the syringe will just not budge. Any suggestions?
If you have a "Printer Failure" error, the touch screen is dead. I replaced the ink head with a good one, from a working printer; still have "Printer Failure, There is a problem with printer or ink system". I reset by unplugging, 10 times...Tried printing from pc, nothing. Is there a reset button or just the unplug thing?
You never answer anyone's question below: DO YOU NEED TO TAKE OFF THE GREEN ATTACHED CIRCUIT BOARD ON THE BACK? Before you submerge it in all that liquid? I have an HP 8600 Pro
I thought I'd bypass flushing the nozzle and just get a new print head, that is till I realized it cost just as much for a new printer as it does a new head. Sheesh. Looks like I'm buying the cleaner kit.
Sorry...i should have been specific. the Printhead Cleaning Kit link on Amazon says it's not compatible with these series of printers. "NOT COMPATIBLE WITH THE OFFICEJET PRO 8xxx SERIES e.g. 8600 NOT COMPATIBLE WITH PRINTERS THAT ACCEPT CARTRIDGES INTO THE FRONT OF THE PRINTER" Seems like a pretty universal solution so surprised it stats its not for front loading printers. Thank you for your video however. Very informative. Are there any micro components on the print head that can be damaged by handling? I know the ink cartridges are very sensitive.
The reason it is not compatible is the way the print-head is set up on the 8000 models. Your only real solution is buying new print-heads, or cleaning the current ones, which I dont have a video on yet. I have never damaged or had issues dealing with these print-heads so as long as you are being reasonable with your handling they should be fine.

I have bought from several different vendors on Ebay and never had a bit of trouble with their replacement cartridges, depending on your model number you may be having trouble because of HP's dynamic security measures implemented in the last couple of years , do a Google search on that and it will explain what they did and where to find the software on the HP site to bypass it.....
I was given this printer, worked great until HP ink ran out, so I bought another brand and the printer hasn't worked decent since. I can't see spending over $100.00 for HP Ink. The print head on Amazon is $174.00 and the ink set is $135.00, if I'm going to spend over $300. I'm just going to invest in an ECO Tank style, tired of this crap with HP.
This has electronic components. I can't understand how you can completely immerse that in any liquid. Really? Even if it is alcohol. Please explain. You don't show the electronics on the printer head on the other side.
This is a really good printer ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxciSwynMJ7PnUvvx11rewiu-yFBkZTl53 . The reason I gave 4 stars for tech support (which I don't think this would classify as tech support) is because once you turn the printer on, it does require a little bit of start up time which may bother some who are in a hurry to quickly print something. To offset that though the printer prints very quickly. I would definitely purchase this printer again.

Thanks for the help! The glove recommendation could have come at the beginning of the video before my hands turned purple, lol.
Glad I could help! Sorry about that
there's a circuit card on the bottom of the printhead. Won't that get damaged sitting in the old cleaning fluid?
As long as it is dried off and allowed 24 hrs to dry totally, there will be no damage. i have done this many times.
Thanks. This has worked perfectly for my printer EXCEPT for the yellow. I can't force the solution through the nozzle. It feels completely blocked up. Is there a fix? Or is it time for a new printhead?
Thanks! This video helped me stay away from this printer type. My last color printer never had issues, just old.
Jason Jones awesome!

I’m glad it helped!
My HP 8630's front door when opened the printer head will not move to the left so I would be able to change a ink cartridge. Can you please help me out ? thank you.
If it is printing still, unplug it while it is printing a document and the printhead will be free for you to install the ink.
Thanks dear. My printer does't recognize C cartridge, what to do?
What is the best way to dispose of the ink and cleaner fluid that ends up in the container?
Run it down a sink with running warm water, when mixed with water the chemicals are not toxic.
Canon mx922 has two sizes of nozzle. How does your kit handle that? Only one tube size?
The tubing is silicone it stretches to fit.
We're can I buy the cleaner
I have a HP ENVY Photo 7858 and have no way to clean my printhead. My issue is my color ink prints just fine but I can't get my black ink to print. Any Ideas?
You are in luck, HP Envys dont require printhead cleaning. The solution is easy, just purchase new ink.
Try this! Thank you! I have a lot of “sludge” ink come out. However I also have a red chip pop out😳 any suggestions to where it might go?
my hp 8600 is reading a code missing or failed printhead error code: OXC 19a0040 what do you recommend I do to fix it ?
I would honestly just replace the printhead. That code is rarely fixable.
Thank you so much, you're a lifesaver!!
of course!

Yes try warming up the solution and then try applying it once warmed.

Thanks for the video, does anyone know what size the internal diameter of the clear tube is?
Thank you, very helpful information
The link you provided specifically stats it doesn't work with the 8000 series printers. Do you have another recommendation?
Hello, yes if you are referring to the printhead here is the link: amzn.to/2LcrCy2
Sorry...i should have been specific. the Printhead Cleaning Kit link on Amazon says it's not compatible with these series of printers. "NOT COMPATIBLE WITH THE OFFICEJET PRO 8xxx SERIES e.g. 8600

So are you saying that even though the flush system says its not compatible, your method of cleaning shown in the video will work?
Thank you😊

What size syringe and tube are you using?
Its a 10 ml syringe and the smaller the tube in width the better.

You have to be careful with circuit boards on the back of the printhead.
Do not get them wet.

how do you remove the circuit board or do you leave them on while you're cleaning it?
What is the cleaning solution made of? I have some allergies.
