Im sure that was East Enders ‘Max Branning’ as the punk in the prudential advert! I actually grinned when i realised i realised it was a prudential advert, It came back to me just before they said it.
I was the same. I was totally expecting him to say Mostyn. I had to presume that the Mostyn name was introduced in later adverts, and I've been remembering it wrong.
Maureen Lipman was a regular in the BT ads. her son Melvin was played by Linal Haft. Castrol GTX was on all the time - using Mahler's Symphony No.7. Heinz Invaders voiceover sounds like another from Valentine Dyall. Good old Big Daddy (aka Shirley Crabtree) seen here with 'Scrubber Daly' and 'Bully Boy' Ian Muir. Barclaycard - Alan Whicker - think he did a few of them. I certainly recall him being on a lot. Used to love banana and chocolate flavour Angel Delight. Captain Birdseye was played by John Hewer (1967-1998). Vienetta voiced by Anton Rodgers. Alliance & Leicester - This pair - Stephen Fry and Hugh Laurie were still doing ads for the company as late as 1992. However, they apparently didn't start till the late 80s! This one was from 1985.
@@RetroSteveUK - i thought i spotted LIME flavour last month... WINNER? got it home and it was not LIME? it was green? but tasted like fruitcake? some new flavour? got it from home bargains. i think they must have lost many recipes - i saw a show showing the chemists who made up the flavours once. i wonder if some of the old flavours were 'toxic' mildly bad for you? as they dropped many old flavours . I think Pot Noodle had some sort of fat they had to drop? Special K was a great cereal too, until they messed with it? huge flakes?
Wow how ads have changed older ads seem better back then and funny
Gemma craven in the birds eye ad. What a beauty❤
Took me right back to my childhood 🤗
I’d completely forgotten about Blue Band margarine!
I forgot about the nat west piggies 🤣 so many memories with these adverts haha, especially the matey bubble bath 🛀 loved that stuff as a kid 👧🏼
Mum always used to get Matey bubblebaths for us from the door-to-door Avon lady. The catalogues used to have a kids' section.
@@RetroSteveUK that was the same with my mum 🤣🙈 she still buys off of the local Avon seller to this day for all her bathroom stuff 🙈😭🛀
They might make a few pence in interest by the time they are 50 nowadays.
Heinz Invaders long gone ,forever in the 80s time bubble.
I'd love to see those return, but I guess basically they're just the same as any other spaghetti shapes.
@@RetroSteveUK true, the label looked cool tho to my teen eyes . 👍
@@stevedickson5853 Yeah, a very cool product. I'd buy 'em now if they were on the shop shelf.
Excellent upload as always Steve

Yeah, I recognised the face but couldn't place him until you pointed him out. 👍
Ah, the classic Maureen Lipman BT ads 🤗
Another crackin set Steve
Better days remembered
Thank you 👍
Good old Basil Brush Boom
Bring back Bird's Custard Pots. Love Bird's Custard reminds me of School Dinners.
I’m sure that Fry & Laurie ad was redone with the Peter character called Mostyn!
I was totally thrown when he didn't say 'Mostyn'. My first experience of the Mandela-Effect.
I was the same. I was totally expecting him to say Mostyn. I had to presume that the Mostyn name was introduced in later adverts, and I've been remembering it wrong.
@@RetroSteveUK I think they did a series of ads with Mostyn and the other fella!
They did.
Another great vid 👍👍👍👍
Great Stuff!
Mr Robson from Grange Hill on the NatWest advert. Great collection
Wow.. that British Caledonian airways ad.. imagine that now, there would be uproar about racism, sexism etc etc…
Definitely. As I remember, I think it was actually banned at the time.
The Barclaycard advert was a bit sexist too….😺😽…

Butterscotch Angel Delight has always been my favourite. Proper lush.
Just seen my car insurance advertised didn't know they'd been going that long
I miss coloured toilet rolls!
They’re well-coloured after I use them!
Aacham, toilet roles of colour.
To compliment the coloured bathroom suite :)
Fun fact, one of those wheels belonging to Sheila was married to Tinky-Winky of Teletubbies fame.
Another great compilation of adverts except that annoying Sheila's Wheels advert.
Mr Robson from Grange Hill would have made a great British Captain Kirk in that Natwest advert.
Banks and Pigs. ... not an image that is used too much since the various economic down-turns, Bankers being Piggy and all.
Brilliant! 🤣
I hadn't made that link yet, surprisingly.
Pigs in blankets instead now
Who remembers artic rolls
Artic role, true sophistication!
Got all them pigs in thumbnail 👌
They all sound like Richard Briers does the voice over on them all
He did do a LOT of voiceovers back in the day.
Him ded bro
Inni
He still a legend tho x
Maurine Lipman🙌🏻
Who remembers wrestling on Saturday afternoon
I've never wrestled, but I did do Kung Fu on a Saturday afternoon for a while.
The green cross code
god i feel old
I can't recall the pot spaghetti product you see at the end of the pot noodle advert
I don't remember those either. They must have been in an experimental phase.
Was that Alan Whicker's actual card details at7:08? 🤔
I suppose hacking was less of a thing back then, but I doubt they'd put his ACTUAL number on the screen, surely?
i miss lime angel delight.
I do not remember lime flavour at all, strangely.

Who remembers Carona bottles?
10p Back when you returned them?
Lol the British Caledonia ad wouldn't be allowed now!
That's a definite! 🤭
You have an ology
An Ology? You get an Ology and you're a scientist!
Whatever happened to Caledonian?
Taken over by British Airways in 1988.
Haha, i still won't buy Castrol Oil.....
🛢 ❌
As a kid, I thought the tins leaked....
Well that advert backfired, didn't it!? 😆
