In Sailor Moon episode 103, Rei has cancelled a study meeting and the other Sailor Soldiers discover her rushing into a cafe for what looks like a date. Naturally, they decide to investigate.
I love how the waitress is all "I have no idea what just happened but I'm so happy for her!"
I bet she thought it was a love proposition, like marriage or something

They are either the worst or the best at Hide and Seek.
I do think they're kinda good for a while since Rei has been turning around alot that made the waitress to lose her balance.

Yes, it's true... I like Sailor Moon Crystal, but humor is missing... even the drawnings are too "serious": no drop on the head, no eyes getting bigger, nor body getting smaller and so on...
also it misses the DAMN GOOD MUSIC WHICH IS NOW BLUNT IN THE NEW VERSION D:

0:30 pure comedy gold. The artist was a genius for drawing the eyes this way, the pose, the best is Ami who can't decide whether to spy too or to be a good friend and let Rei have her privacy. It's safe to say she eventually chose to spy too hahahahaha
I think Ami didn't really chose to spy on Rei, but she joined them while thinking "if Rei sees me here, she'll know the other girls are here too, prying on her, so I'd best hide too so Rei won't find out about us".
I like how Ami is kneeling on the floor with a clothe wiping the hot coffee from Rei's head/back all concerned. Great example of her sweet character.
You COULD make the argument that she was just being naïve here too. XD Like yeah, it WAS sweet that Ami was the only one of the group that tried to help Rei while Usagi and the rest just stared, but she was STILL lumped with the others when Rei eventually saw them and snapped anyway, regardless her extra sense of compassion. Plus, who knows, Rei probably did spot them all BECAUSE Ami cleaned her.
Just an observation on my part. Ami almost endless kindness does make her one of my favorite SM characters though.

It's like the planets orbiting the sun, the waitress is the sun. With Mars orbiting in hugging distance but all the planets are orbiting so aligned to each other. But the arrangement of the planets are much more interesting, you've got medium size Mars, then the teeny tiny moon, then large Venus, than super duper huge Jupiter and then small Mercury.
How funny! And it's amazing how Jupiter and Mercury are able to climb the chair and table so seamlessly. 😂🤣😆

DM: *Rolls Waitress Dexterity. 12* "...Suspicious that you may have been followed, you ramp up your invasion of the Waitress' personal space, peering around her hips in an almost cartoonish move, finding more nothing, and causing the waitress no small amount of distress as she struggles to remain in place AND hold the tray with a scalding hot coffee above your head, the china rattling ominously as she begs 'Miss?' "

DM: *Sigh... Roll Waitress Dex. 4.* "Your paranoid search is becoming something of a scene as you search around the waitresses legs like a radar dish. Even as the spinning is making her dizzy, you fail to fully comprehend that something or someone is touching your legs as you slink about in a circle. Finally, it's too much for the waitress and a boiling cup of the nectar of the gods plunges towards you- roll for evasion."
Rei: "Would I even notice the coffee falling after a perception roll of two?
DM: "Good point... The coffee lands on your head perfectly face down. It's contents soak into your hair and burn your scalp for one point of damage.
Rei: _"HOOOOOT!!!! HOT HOT HOT!!!_ I shout."
DM: The entire cafe stares at the spectacle, as if they weren't already giving you weird looks. Your friends, likewise concerned with your burns, try to cool you down. Oh, and you finally notice them now that they aren't hiding two feet away.
For a UA-cam comment, this is surprisingly well written.
This comment re-awoke my long-forgotten urge for getting started with tabletop roleplaying. Thank a many a thank.

Sailor Moon from the 90s was a masterpiece! I love its humour. Naoko Takeuchi said that the 90s version was changed a lot from the original manga and was directed mainly by men... but I think the changes they made had sense and they improved to the series. A lot of humour was added while the manga is not so funny, exactly like the Crystal...

When it comes to pace and enemy design the 90s version is superior, too. In crystal you barely learn about the enemies themselves or the realtionships of the Sailors within each other. Luckily they improved the art more in the 90s style with the third season.
Yeah I also agree with that, the 90's version of sailor moon was really great, and the funny expressions and reactions from the characters was really good too, unlike the crystal version, usagi never makes any funny expressions at all in the series, except that scene in the first episode when she tried to do that sailor v kick and accidentally kicked the door because she was mad at her brother for teasing her when she failed that test.

@@grace19005 Main Story in Sailor Moon is not that good. The greatest aspect of Sailor Moon is Fillers and it has the best damn Fillers in Anime ever. It's fillers are better than main story in most of anime.
Oh God. And the looks on Usagi and Minako's faces makes me wonder if they aren't being jealous, they have that same slant, beaded eyed style they show on anime characters for comic effect. I love Rei, she is so awesome, and a perfect, badass foil for all of the Senshi. XD

@@Nocturne22 yes exactly, and the artistic presentation of all, characters, back ground, music, voicing, etc. Crystal is like, they rushed everything as if they are in a hurry to submit the project on time. But the result is chaos.
