That was an amazing video. Look at what goodness happens when you get up, go and give love to your garden. Best to you and the farming family dear friend.
Oh Shay, I needed to hear this. It's only July and my garden is wearing me out. Gonna keep grinding and caring for it and loving it as it more than returns the favor. We can do hard things! Amen!
Just watched this with my kiddos and they loved it. Their favorite part was your beautiful doggo. Six-year-old Julia also loves your twinkle lights! Inspiring as we begin our garden journey together this summer!
I really do think of you every time I walk into my kitchen and see my cabbage/kraut print hanging on my wall. Your garden is more than beautiful. Thank you again for sharing your little plot of heaven with us.❤️
Wow! That cabbage is bigger than your head! lol! Gardening is definitely my happy place, even though it is work. So very rewarding to get anything from it that I've grown. And as you said, there is no food in the store that tastes anything like it!
Your dedication to nurturing a thriving vegetable garden at dawn is truly inspiring, reflecting your passion for sustainable living and wholesome harvests. Your commitment to cultivating beauty and abundance enriches the community. And I am Floating Village Life
We labor whether there is a bumper crop filling our baskets, and when there is no harvest at all. Sadly it's been the latter for me this year, so thank you for the encouragement to do hard things when they are indeed hard. Thanks, Shaye!
I love gardening. Each morning I skim through it before work at 4. Then in the afternoon. Morning picking is great for sure. My one dog picks beans but has a hard time putting them in a basket. Too funny. Yes , she eats them. Potato dign coming soon. Cukes, cayenne and the normal stuff
Your not only one of THE best homesteaders out here🫶🏼but Mann you know how to put out a beautiful story for your viewers!! You know how to captivate us even when the work isn’t so fun lol! Wonderful wonderful channel thanks soo much!!🙌🏼
Beautiful as always! This reminds me of a few verses in Proverbs: A wise woman builds her house… The tent of the upright shall flourish…Work brings profit… Wealth is the crown of the wise… I encourage you to meditate on Psalm 65 as you walk through all that goodness ☺️! Thank you for sharing your valuable life with us.
I have a small garden this year. It's been dry and yet there are bugs galore, bites galore too. I don't know if they are mosquitoes, chiggers, or both but I have them all over my legs and ankles. I just had to complain about it.
Can we talk about how you harvest garlic? It was so interesting to me that you already had the tops cut off. This is my first year growing garlic and it produced really well. I ended up pulling up the entire plants and they're currently 'curing' on a drying rack my husband build me. I'd be curious to hear your process.
Ha! This is what happens when you set your young boys on the task of cutting the garlic scapes off and they end cutting the entire top off the garlic. No, this is not how I usually harvest my garlic. We will see how it does in the root cellar.
How are your cabbages so gorgeous? Mine are so eaten up from slugs and cabbage moths. I’m going to try again for a fall crop but this is my third year of cabbage failure.
Take heart! Indeed, we have had seasons like this. Not every cabbage from my garden has been UA-cam worthy. But we still eat them and enjoy them for what they are. This year has been better for us as far as pests. I think the weather has played a role.
@@theelliotthomestead we’re in the middle of the worst drought here in southwest PA since ‘88. Hasn’t helped. But thank you for the encouraging words. Just the boost I’ve needed.
Was wondering the same thing. How about squirrels, rabbits, deer, and rodents? I have fencing but still they get it and wipe out green beans, sugar snap peas, cabbages, broccoli.... What do you use on cabbages to protect them?
Honestly I think we live in a good place for pest control. We don’t get a lot. Squash beetles and aphids may be our worst ones. As far as birds and such, they get what they get. We are on a sharing system 😀
Some are bush tomato plants and we didn't stake those this year. But it will be our first year not doing so. We will see how it turns out. It seems not matter what we do we end up with a tomato hedge by the end of the season.
Thank you! Those are self seeded ones from the previous year so I can’t quite remember. The birds often spread the seeds everywhere so I don’t actually plant sunflowers much anymore. I just decide which ones to allow to grow and where.
Wow!!! What massive cauliflower/cabbage. Y'all have a plentiful garden. Does my heart good to see this blessing you have. 🌿🌺🌿🌺🌿
Well, thank you! It does our hearts good too.
That cabbage is as big as a pumpkin! I'm in awe.
Isn’t that amazing. I’m always in awe of what the garden can do.
❤

dear friend.
Thank you! Yes, some hard work and showing some love to the things that matter can produce such goodness.
I agree wholeheartedly! Lovely video, as always.
Well said.
I love the beauty you share on your channel. That cauliflower was so gigantic. Only fertile soil and lots of love can produce that.
Thank you so much!

Yes indeed. I need the reminder too.
I don’t think the garden wears us out. It might be the hot weather. Hang in there with your garden. ❤

I love that others are inspired by what we put out there. And Bertie Wooster, our dog, has been a great garden companion.
Those are some trophy veggies!
Ha! I’m pretty proud of them! Can you tell?

Incredible harvests. I can only dream of cauliflower like that!! Thanks for sharing. It's inspirational as always
Thank you. Not to gloat but I’m am proud of that cauliflower 😄
SO encouraging
Gardening is good for the soul. Squirrels like the garden too and have been eating our tomatoes but only half eaten.
They are saving the other half for you. That’s thoughtful.
What a beautiful garden. Blessings to be sure!
Beautiful video ❤❤

Hey Shaye and Stu, so so beautiful 🎉.
I'm a bit behind you. Potates are flowering and grape tomatoes ripening , I am so excited 🎉

I laughed when I read your dog picks the beans. Mine tries to help weed every once in a while.
Beautiful & ❤️ warming!
That huge cauliflower would make some great roasted and caramelized cauliflower 'steaks'! ...a favorite at our house.
Sounds delicious!

I enjoy your videos when you show making a cup of coffee/expresso. Great garden!
Thank you. Yes, the espresso is one of life’s luxuries. Necessary, maybe not. But so lovely.
Every bit of this was so refreshing! Thank you!

My what goodness!

Thank you! I’m kinda fond of it myself.

I know! It’s really good too. We made some with lamb chops and fresh onions last night.

How do you keep slugs /birds and pests away from your plants? 😢 they look so healthy

Hi!!! How do you deal with wasps? God bless you all!!❤❤❤
If they get bad we set out traps and Stu might have to spray a nest once in a while.
Do you know the variety name of the branching sunflower in this video? I'd love to grow it. Everything looks magical!

What garlic and carrot variety do you grow and where do you get your seeds for them?
In other videos and podcasts I've seen she uses johnnys seeds for most everything and the carrot variety is bolero
