    The first time I went fishing in the everglades was when I was 17 yeaRs old, in 2014 as a graduation gift from my dad. We fished with a man named Captain Gary, and tbh it was the most fun I've ever had fishing. I've fished up in Oregon. In the Umpqua, and tbh Chinook and steelhead salmon, tarpon and barracuda are my favorite fish to catch

    Well what can I say, this is the Everglades, good place, superb conservatory condition and the best place for fish. Not even the virgin mangrove forest of Papua New Guinea can match the Everglades. Wonderful video guys. My sons just love it.

    plugs are hard plastic baits with treble hooks. With live bait on a J hook, you will need to set the hook. With a circle hook, you allow the fish to hook itself by just reeling when the fish takes the bait. Bowing to a tarpon when he jumps allows the line to go slack, so when the fish shakes it's head it won't break the line or throw the hook.

  • @hcoffman100
    @hcoffman100 12 років тому

    Hey guys I don't really understand plugs, could somebody explain them to me? Also, are the hooks you guys are using in this video J hooks? One more thing, how do you set the hook into a tarpon with a J hook and then how do you do it with a circle hook, and when you bow to the king do you still maintain pressure on the line and just don't pull quite as hard or do you completely point your rod at it right when it jumps and therefore let slack into your line?

  • @addictivefishing
    @addictivefishing  13 років тому

    @risenflame Bow to the king, when they jump, point your rod at them to give some slack. If you are too tight when they jump, they will either break your line or throw your hook.

    Never caught a Tarpon yet. But sure want to in the next month and a half. I've got DOA Terror Eyz, other DOA lures, and MirrorLure Plugs to. I went to the Thousand Island channel and docks in search for them and all I got was trout and reds there. They gotta be there at this time of year. Anybody know where else? Blair? Got this strong feeling their in the Thousand Island Channels and house docks.

    • @Guitarplayer219
      @Guitarplayer219 10 років тому

      I have a specific spot where I catch 10-20 lbs guys all the time. Use freelined shrimp on a 2/0 or 3/0 hook cast it out and let it sit with the bail open, you can rest it against a chair or just hold it, once they pick it up just start reeling until you feel the fish. That's the easiest way to hook these fish. Also if you rig a live shrimp on a jighead and pull it through the water they'll gobble that. They'll also hit small soft plastics like DOA Terroreyes, or a my preferred artificial is jerk bait of proper size just wait for them to roll and cast in front. Just know that you'll probably land of 2 out of 10 fish if you're lucky. These small ones are even harder to keep hooked than the big guys if you ask me. Always remember to bow to the king!

    So I just realized you guys were only using 40lb braid for 100+ lb tarpon. Where I'll be fishing I'd probably catch a 60lb tarpon on a good day, but I'm a first time tarpon fisherman so is it alright for me to use 50lb braid and a penn battle 6000 paired with an 8 foot offshore angler medium action surf rod? Also, I'll be fishing off of a pier.
