Whenever we see a new batter do well in subcontinent we say " let's wait to see how he bats in SENA " . Why this logic doesn't apply for Bradman ? He never played outside Australia and England . We have no idea how he will bat in turning conditions in subcontinent . Yet everyone adds him in their all time best test XI . Do you think it will work the other way around ? Do you think the English and Aussies will agree that a batter who batted only in India and Paksitan and averages 100 as the best batter of all time ? . We all fall prey to their propaganda
Don scored 715 runs against India in 5 tests with an average of 178.. He played in 5 test playing countries of that era and his lowest was 74 average in West Indies.. He is an outlier not only from cricket's perspective but among all sports.. No other player had such a huge standard deviation from the all time 2nd best
I think it's because we traditionally have batting friendly pitches and SENA countries have more bowling friendly pitches... Nobody said let's see Akashdeep or Kuldeep in SENA countries.
@@2605deepak Bradman never played in India . He played against India in Australia . Same case with West Indies . He faced WI in AUS. He never played in any other countries other than ENG and AUS.. His contemporary Wally Hammond on the other hand played in Aus , ENG . SA, WI,NZ and still averages 60

Good podcast. Few things I would like to add, from my personal opinion- 1. In the all time xi- The pace trio should be Shami-Zaheer-Kapil-Dev...Bumrah shouldnt make it yet because he played far too little. I agree with the rest, although I would have Kumble as the captain. 2. India's home test dominance goes back a long way- After 1986, we only lost three test series- 2000 SA, 2004 Aus, 2012 ENG and a test championship in between which was more of a test tri-series. 2000 SA and 2004 Aus we were playing against two of the most extraordinary teams, only 2012 ENG series was bit of a bad performance. A few drawn series like 2006-07 England , should have been easily won. 3. Wasim Jaffer was not particularly born in the wrong era. He actually played domestic way too much that he could not adapt in SENA countries, between 2000-2007/8 test cricket openers and test wicketkeepers was up for grabs, far less competiton....Sehwag Gambhir partnership came in around 2005 and solidified around 2007-08, Jaffer could not capitalise and Gambhir took over. The likes of Badrinath, Manoj tiwary and many others middle order players were simply born in the wrong era. 4. As for Srinath and Kumble (from the previous podcast) they get a lot of recognition from people aged 28 plus now. They get a little bit forgotten after the social media came in around 2007-08 but for a different generation they are as big as Dhoni or a Yuvraj. 5. The point about the part-timers was the best of the podcast. The field limitations came in around 2013 champions trophy, after that part-timers were non-existent in cricket.
You are bang on with your analysis.. Actually we do it totally impromptu without any edits or any preparation but if Look back at your points in the hindsight then each and everyone is pin point accurate.. thanks for all your inputs
The reason I kept Bumrah ahead of Shami is, his ability to adapt to any wicket n any match situation.. in 2018 during first test match he was found wanting against ABD n Faf but just in his 2nd spell he understood what lengths to be bowled on that wicket and in the 2nd innings of that match he almost bowled a match winning spell.. Troubled ABD Faf n Amla consistently in that series.. Shami no doubt is also a complete test match bowler n has proven himself for a bit longer as well..
But if you didn't bowl regular there will be no part timer maxwell Moen Ali everyone bowling where are our batter start bowling from domestic circuit that's the reason we lost ICC
@@sudiptabhunia243 Nice point.. But I think Maxwell and Moen Ali are very good bowlers.. Like Yuvi was also a brilliant bowler but highly underrated.. Some players have that smart game sense and are naturally gifted ones..
@@2605deepak Yes good point....My vote goes to Shami because obviously he has done it longer, he has bowled 1st change, opening, always done well, never seemed to have a bad series.....I believe Zaheer-Ishant-Shami (for two series' only) was our first great fast bowling trio, which slowly went to Bhuvi/Umesh-Ishant-Shami and we started doing well.....Before that it was the era of Sreesanth, Munaf, RP singhs who were only good for a couple of series at the most...
Why in cricket very rarely in news or the commentators are discussing the performance of Umpires. I mean the Good decisions of Umpires needs more attention and it should be discussed.
