  • I traveled west coast Norway off the beaten path in April this year. And it was a huge surprise...
This trip was already pre-planned for our job, and we had no idea what to expect, but wow, some of these places were such hidden magic! In this video we explore Voss and the surrounding area, which is about one and a half hour from Bergen. This video is the first of four videos I have made from this area, so if you would like to see more you can find them here:

Part 3 (We go further out to the sea and visit Skjerjehamn and Byrknes): • We are starting a new ...

West coast Norway, or more specifically "Vestland" which is where we were travelling, is largely visited, but people often go to places like Bergen and Trolltunga. They do not explore places that are a bit off the beaten tourist path in Norway.
But why not avoid the crowds and head for somewhere different and more hidden? Especially now that we need to avoid crowds more than before? If you are travelling in Norway, I hope you will have some use of it :-). Enjoy!
Places visited in this video are all about two hours drive from Bergen:
    - Voss. Bordalsgjelet.
    - Straume. Skipshelleren.
Some of you might remember the video I made about the preparations for our school tour? If not you can see the lead up video to this one here: • self employed and stre...

Took me ages to get real time to watch this but I enjoyed it so much. That cave is epic and what a dream it would be for me to sing in a place like that. Look forward to more videos like this sometimes I hope :)

Maria, this is an excellent video, and I just can't wait to see part 2. You captured the spectacular scenery so well, especially in the opening sequence and at the ravine. Thank you so much for taking us on your fabulous journey, and capturing so much on video. I've just spent the past 17 minutes saying wow wow wow ! I might just have to watch this one a second time.

Vilken herlig video! 🤩 Jeg liker hus som är bygget av tre (wooden houses), så fint. Hoppas ni fått tillfälle att hvile efter er 'arbetsrunda'. Visst är det väl fantastisk när det är helt stille! No noice pollution - lovely! Hoppas ni har det fint!

Oh my goodness this is just a spectacular video. And I am pretty sure that I have a cousin, Kjell, who lives in Voss. I must get in touch with him and next trip I will go and visit him and his wife. I cannot wait to see Part II! The drone shots are fantastic. And that wonderful narrow road trip was just beautiful. Reminds me of Jamaica where I grew up. (Yes, half Jamaican half Norwegian! LOL!)

@@Mariaandtheforest I am so fortunate to have the best of both worlds from my parents. Two of the most beautiful countries in the world - Norway and Jamaica! I got to go to school in Trofors for 1 semester when I was 14 - I wish it had been longer. And now I have been studying Norwegian on Duolingo (thanks to a heads up from the "Life in Norway" blog) since Covid began (other than 5-6 months when I had no internet at my cabin). My Norwegian is much better now!

Lovely video! That narrow canyon was so beautiful! I live in a very different place from Norway- a desert. I am from Tucson, Arizona, USA. I do live in the countryside now, though, about an hour from the city. It is monsoon season here, the time of year when we get our rain. It often is above 100 degrees F. here in the desert, and we almost never get snow. Instead, our summers are too long and hot. I came across this channel when doing plant research for a piece of writing I’m working on; I’m also studying Norwegian as a second language, but there’s not many resources here where I live. In this part of America, the second most common language is Spanish. I am looking forward very much to the next video!
