  • Making 3D digital replicas of bones, shells, footprints and other fossils is becoming increasingly easy. Digital replicas and 3D prints are now widely used in paleontology. 3D models are incorporated into fossil identification keys, are valuable for science communication and student training, and are excellent for enabling long-distance research collaborations. This talk will describe recent applications of 3D imaging in zoology and paleontology in Aotearoa that I have been involved in, with a view towards showcasing the value of generating 3D digital replicas.
